Good stock and knowledgeable people. I've been here twice - once to buy a tikkun and once to get my tefillin serviced. Not the most friendly place in the world. Being my friend isn't halachically required, but v'ahavta l'rei'acha kamocha means I'm not made to feel like an outsider just because I'm not visibly Orthodox. Mekor is most definitely my favorite store in Brooklyn for Judaica items and Jewish toys and books. They happen to carry a very special daily prayer book specifically for women entitled "My Prayer", it was compiled by Rabbi Haber. It conveniently includes all of the daily prayers that pertain to women -- so it does not include the prayers for Tefillin and it's uniquely square-shaped and easy to carry in your pocketbook! I have called the store numerous times to have this special Siddur sent to Friends all over the country and in Puerto Rico. I've always received stellar service and one time when I complained, the sales person called me up to apologize! It doesn't get more emmesdik than that! Fantastic group of holy people work here, each one a scholar in Torah. I'll always support this special store that I often visit in the summer, on my way to enjoy the day in Brighton Beach. As we all know the holidays are here and as if that wasn't stressful enough, you have to search for a good Judaica store to provide you with all the right books, decorations, etc. I was greeted at the door by a friendly lady, she was so helpful to all my needs. My favorite Judaica store in South Brooklyn. They have some very specific items that no other Judaica store has. Several items are overpriced but it's not their fault it's the rabbi's fault; it's disappointing that they use religion to make 10x more money then what should be charged. I love the store and I love the staff. read more

There are many stores to purchase books for the Judaica studies but I have been going here forever. During my grade school years I needed this store for books with English/Hebrew translations. The staff can provide helpful recommendations for jewish gifts, jewish music, books, children puzzles and learning toys. They have all sorts of items that are perfect for the Jewish religious holidays and festivals. read more

Mekor Judaica messed up terribly. Our Shul ordered 100 volumes of the Artscroll Viduy several weeks before Yom Kippur. They deposited our payment immediately, which is fine -- but the books never arrived. They were still in Brooklyn with Mekor Judaica on Erev Yom Kippur. I would recommend to never buy anything from Mekor Judaica again. Really -- just the worst incompetence imaginable. Utterly incompetent. read more
