At this point, a customer, a gentle lady in her 40ies, joined the conversation, saying she Really wanted this place, which is best in town. After taking stock of prices and the menu, she was off, and I ordered my own bento and sat down. The Romanian woman returns, shares that she doesn't have much experience with sushi and wonders what to have. She soon decides she'll have the medium sushi the other woman just had, and sits down, too. The shopkeeper asks for help asking her if she wants the octopust or not, which she does. We chat for a bit, the TV in the background showing the latest Japanese news in Japanese at a pleasant background volume, and we soon get each of our meals. Mine is delightfully varied, the sushi tasting fresh and going a little creatively beyond the "Swedish" standard sushi assortment, and it's really rather filling. My now lady friend finishes hers too, and notes she is still a little hungry, and the little shop keeper comes out with a little tray of five more pieces of sushi, on the house. Joy, gratitude and delight ensues. Meanwhile, a third woman is asking the shop keeper about the contents of california rolls, and first gets the ingredients -- rice, crabfish, cucumber, a little mayonnaise, and then a sample piece. Apparently, they were originally in another smaller spot but moved to this bigger spot. The interior design is Thai culture meets tiki culture. We ordered a bunch a dishes ranging from curries, fried rice, pad thai, and vegetarian ramen for my aunt. Didn't order any sushi/hand rolls , but they did sell a variety of Hitachino beers. Thai dish flavors are definitely more tame from the flavors I'm used to here in the US, while my aunt's ramen soup was lukewarm and would have been better if served hot. And for some reason, there's no green curry or Thai ice tea on their menu. Though it's one of the few Asian spots in town, so if you're desperate for Asian food, this will do. Service was friendly though, and they can speak English, They have a huge single restroom, which is helpful for parents with young children, as they have a changing table.

Even if you dine in it is pretty much self-serve. There are no waitresses. If you are dining in, you go to the counter, place your order and buy your drinks then sit down. The Sushi Chef (owner I presume) brings your food to whereever you sit. Be warned that they do not speak one lick of English. They have a couple copies of their menu that are in (kinda) English. And they have a picture on the wall across from the cashier of the various fish offered as Sushi. I got my order in by pointing at "Sushi" on the menu, then pointing at the fish pictures and holding up fingers. (Point at the tuna, hold 4 fingers for 4 pieces, point at Snapper, hold up 2 fingers, point at Salmon, hold up 2 fingers) I also pointed at dumplings on the menu (12 dumplings, were a mix of meat dumplings and veggie dumplings) Amazingly the order came out fast and correct. First came the sushi, 4 pieces of Tuna, 2 of Snapper and 2 Salmon. About the time I polished them off, out came my dumplings. Everything was very good. The bonus part....8 pieces of sushi, a platter of 12 dumplings and a Coke Zero was $24.93. Great value for the quality of food. Good food, nice people that don't speak English and Zero ambiance.
