have to change my review on meineke on dennery rd 92154. had both my cars oil changed this past wk and only drove one of the cars. when i drove my 2nd car i immediately noticed that the oil and motor lite were both on so i immediately came home and parked it. turns out there was no oil in my car!! the guy at meineke put in the wrong size filter. i called the manager noah who did give me the # for a tow. had the car towed and oil replaced. thank goodness i didnt have any more issues (yet) but lesson learned always check your oil after any oil change!! the manager didnt even appologize. shameful. be aware folks

    $100 for an oil change...

I want to be an independent person to 2nd a review I read here by Rick D. The first thing the staff here told me: "we're not connected to Meineke so your Meineke coupons won't work here and our rates are different because we're a franchise." Then they processed to quote me outrageous prices 3X other Meineke's and auto shops. Avoid

Giving a different Meineke another try!

Let's say this review is not complete yet! I scored a three on this because I felt I had good service and courtesy from this auto team at Meineke. I came in for an oil change, tire rotation, and full 75K inspection. There were problems with the car but I am unsure that estimates for work on a couple of apparent leaks in sections of my engine were fair. I am still doing my research on that but from what I saw in estimates via the internet, it didn't look good for the shop. My car is running well, so the basic service they did appears in good order. I am feeling I'm going to have to find a new go-to place for auto work - I'll keep looking for one that pulls me in like a magnet once again. Recommend: LOW -- MED

If you want to get robbed of your money then by all means go to this place. I went in and just asked for the price of a simple basic oil change for a Nissan Versa. Just across the parking lot Walmart advertises their basic oil changes for $25 and $35 for any vehicle. The person in the office of this location told me that the price was going to be $140 for a simple oil change. He told me he could give me an exact quote if I waited a few minutes for him to put information in the computer. Honestly, who needs to enter information into a computer to quote a simple oil change? Those are pretty standard processes today. This is just an example of price gouging.

My car overheated after Meineke "serviced" it
    Brian A.

EDITED - Last Saturday I got my car serviced with a routine oil change and brakes done. $300 to service. Ok cool. Then the following days after my car was serviced, my engine overheated. Why? The reservoir cap for my coolant wasn't screwed back on. Being that they do indeed check all fluids during an oil change (I called and asked to confirm) - this garage was they were the last people to touch my car. They must've been in such a rush to get my car on the lift to fix my brakes, that they must've forgotten to secure all my fluid caps/covers. So on the way home from work last week, my car lost all coolant and caused my engine to overheat and seize. I had to tow it home and now have to replace my motor. And might have to rent a car while it's being repaired. $1500 down the drain. Advice - STOP RUSHING just to turn another vehicle over, and get another one in the bay. I'm sure these guys are not gonna take any blame. And hope I just sweep this under the rug. But make sure the "mechanic" tightens everything down. And even if this is an isolated incident, this makes me very very weary to comeback.

A bunch of clowns shuffling around dragging their feet moving as fast as sloths. Came for a simple belt change. 1230," To get the part will take 15-25 minutes. Autozone is in the same shopping center! What if I go get it . "No warranty then. " It's now 210. Dude comes out all smiles "Hey we noticed a tear in the belt right as we put it on. What a clown, I can see you working on my truck less than 50 feet away and I saw DUMB under my truck with no safety glasses on, shit falling in your eyes and DUMBER standing on a tire over the engine pulling on the belt and snapped it. " It's going to be anther 50 minute to an hour." Great now I need to text a neighbor to get my daughter from school because I don't have a vehicle. Coming here to support a fellow Marine (owner)was a 1 time mistake. Not to mention seeing them revving the engine on a customs Honda (right bay) who left his car here and these morons laughing about it. A prime example of, Are you a mechanic? No but I've worked on cars my whole life." 10/28/2021 pls rebuttal if this is untrue. Time now 250 no end in sight.

Attn: I am being attacked by meineke employees for sharing my opinion and experience with this shop. very unprofessional. sandra g messaged me and wrote a review trying to defend meineke but instead proves how unprofessional and immature they are. again i do not recommend. horrible customer service.

Beyond frustrated, I reached out to my community in March looking for a mechanic for my 2010 Honda Pilot. Thank you for everyone's input. I went against better judgement and went with the veteran owned business. This has been an nightmare! I'm writing this post to tell Eastlake community to beware of Meineke at 740 Dennery Road San Diego, CA 912154. I went with this location because I'm actives duty and because they stated they are veteran owned and offer free towing. Yes it's free towing up to 5 miles after that it's $10 dollars a mile. So I've attached the work I got done to my car. I was told my car was good to go! I texted one of the people to let them know I was on my way to the shop. When I arrived my car was in the bay. That initially raised concerns. I asked what was going on. I was told because it's a new battery it was being charged. Never heard this a day of my life but again I don't know much about cars. They drove my car out the bay and I paid. (Maybe I'm stupid for paying) I asked the question IS THAT A NEW BATTERY TWICE. I was told yes! Exactly a week later I went to drive my vehicle again. Guess what my car won't start at all! No power to it. So I contact the free towing company again. This time oh the free towing takes 16 hours to come. So yeah my day is ruin bc the estimated 2 hours they gave me turned into 2 hours. See attached what was the problem I received from the shop. I had to let them know IM NOT PAYING FOR THE DIAGNOSIS FOR THE VEHICLE BECAUSE I PAID TOO MUCH MONEY FOR MY CAR! I agreed to have them program a spare key I had for my car. So yeah I didn't pay for a diagnosis but I paid 80 bucks for my key to be programmed. So remembered I said I'm military. Well my job requires me to travel. Last week I was in Hawaii. This vehicle was for my son. An early graduation gift. So he's been driving it for a week. No issues. Thursday he contacted me at 0340 in the morning panicking. Oh yes because he's a brand new licensed driver. He says mom my battery light came on and my car just died! I'm like OMG! What where are you are you safe. He said i was heading to school. Luckily not many vehicles were on the road. He handled it well. But WTF(fudge) exactly a week later the car is dead AGAIN! So I had to pay $195 to get the car towed from off the side of the road to my house. I told him once I fly back to SD I will get it back to the shop. So Monday this week that's what I did. Once again paid the $20 for the extra 2 miles. So now once again oh we can't find anything. I'm heated! I'm frustrated! I went to this business because The military affiliation and now look! I feel like I'm being taken advantage of because I'm a female and I don't know vehicles at all. People I've spoken to told me I spent too much for a battery. To me it seemed right. Since this process I've reached out to some people and I'm going to the BBB as well as bureau of automotive repair. As stated before just because we reside in Eastlake doesn't mean take advantage of your community.

This was the customers car that the mechanic went in without wearing any face coverings while driving around with their car.

I figured I could handle that since I was tight on cash, and the repair wouldn't go over $500. After a quick test drive around the block--where I did hear some clicking, but it didn't sound too bad--I decided to buy it. On my 20-mile drive home, that clicking sound started raising doubts. It didn't seem like just a CV axle issue anymore, though I couldn't quite figure out what it was. The engine and transmission were running great, so I thought it had to be something simple, right? I took it to a highly-rated local shop, and they diagnosed the problem as the front differential or transmission (it's an AWD vehicle). Unfortunately, they said they don't work on transmissions. Well, FML. Next, I took it to a well-recommended transmission shop. After a few days, they confirmed the same issue and gave me a rough estimate of $1,900 to $2,500 for a used replacement. No rebuilt or new parts were available. FMLx2. I then brought it to my go-to guy, who's great at swapping parts and doing some diagnostics. He said he could handle the repair for $1,200, including sourcing a used part. But after two weeks of searching, he had no luck. FMLx3. At this point, I did my own research and decided if I could stay under $2,500, the repair would be worth it based on the car's value. I posted a project on Yelp to solicit bids from local shops. That's when Memo from AAMCO reached out. I was hesitant at first, but AAMCO has been around forever, and Memo seemed legit. I figured they'd either be the most expensive or the most reasonable since they specialize in transmissions. I checked reviews on Google and Yelp, and they looked good, so I decided to give Memo a shot. I dropped by to talk to him, and he was great--super communicative and really listened to my situation. I left the car with him, and the next day, I got a call. Of course, the repair exceeded my $2,500 budget. Same diagnosis: front differential/transmission replacement with a used unit. The estimate was $2,800, but they'd thoroughly inspect the replacement to ensure it was good. So close, but still over budget. I told him I'd call back. I was ready to schedule the car for auction and cut my losses, but something in my gut told me the car was worth saving. I called Memo back and asked if he could do it for $2,700. After some discussion, he agreed to work with me. Two days later, the car was ready. Memo had a surprise for me--the replacement transmission came with a new mount, and they managed to bring the total cost just under $2,600, nearly at my budget. THAT is honesty and integrity. I've been driving the car, and it feels exactly how a 20-year-old car in great shape should. No more clicking noises, and it's running beautifully. Since AAMCO handles other types of repairs, Memo and his team have officially become my go-to shop. I highly recommend seeing Memo at AAMCO if you need reliable, trustworthy service.

Shame on these guys…read more They'll take you over the coals with Upcharges and work you don't need unless you do what I did, and that is to walk out and bring my business to an honest shop. I had no idea this was the same people as I had got a [crazy, inaccurate] quote from in 2018. I was quoted over the phone that a complete diagnosis would be $109. They had the make and model, knew it was a truck so should be no surprises when I walk in. RIGHT? wrong. "We like to get paid for our time"; dude at the counter. Then don't misquote customers in the first place. His excuse was, "well, we have to check the back of the truck too". Lame. Posted: are the two quotes for a diagnosis, one from John's and the next from a shop that I won't share here, where my truck is currently being serviced. Further, let's go back a bit in history. In April of 2018 I visited John's location on Riverdale in Grantville. My truck had registered a check engine, which turned up regarding emissions. What did "Johns" say and quote me? " Well, Toyota Tundras have four catalytic converters so you are looking at $3,270. out the door, you need to replace these, then you'll pass smog, clear emissions ". Problem: they got it way wrong: the 2000 Toyota Tundras have TWO catalytic converters mister grifters. After that B.S. I left. [2007s - present have four converters, so ketchup Bubs!] Next, I left and went to "Cardiego" on Adams Avenue. The owner checked the emissions signal and said, " all you need is your drive cycle reset. One hour later and $90. dollars later the work was done, truck passed smog and no more emissions issue. It was my mistake that I had no idea that this same outfit had a second garage in La Mesa, had no idea I was walking into the same line of talk and walk. I expect that the owner Mr. Joan will comment here something like this, " I am sorry you seemed to have this experience, because we don't have a record of you in our system " hmmmm... My response [following my laughter] is this: on 4/27 your computer generated the quote that I have posted here. It generated the information you had on my vehicle back in 2018 because you have my old plate number of 6E71244. So Jon, don't try to tell me you never had me in the "system" because if you had not noticed, I now have personalized plates, I haven't had the 6E7... plates for a while now. To be clear: my Tundra is the best year that was produced, it has been cared for only with master techs, and runs perfectly. Word to the wise: My recommendation is to go elsewhere to take care of your auto. **My truck needed the lower front ball joint replacement in the front only. The shop I went to even took out the $57. diag charge since I had the work done with them. It is silent and smooth as usual. There was no noise in the back and a quote on a diagnosis means you quoted me on a diagnosis of the entire vehicle. Bogus, no: I never "authorized" more diagnosis work. Just a foolish response below.

He explained to me CONCISELY what the feasible issue may be, and how they were going to approach a diagnosis. Jason was extremely knowledgeable, and followed up promptly to discuss the fix. Pedro was also exceptional. He found the issue (rodent-chewed wires) and repaired it perfectly. When I picked up my car, he was as excited as I was to have helped me. Before Miramar Auto, I took my truck to the Honda dealer, and they charged twice as much for a diagnosis, only to tell me that I would need a new compressor (incorrect diagnosis) and that it would cost twice as much as I ended up paying out the door at Miramar auto. It took me a while to save up but I had them come by today to help me with my brakes. I made a last minute appointment, which they were more than willing to accommodate. Met me at my house, and got to work! The repair took a little under an hour, and my brakes sound great because they are no longer screeching!!! Not only did the mechanic help identify the problem and fix my brakes, he also gave my car a quick look and was able to give me a heads up about an issue with my tire that could've been dangerous had I not known! I am soooo thankful for this business and so thankful for the mechanic who serviced my car. The attention to detail, and extraordinary customer service is something rare to find in this industry. I am grateful to have been able to work with them, and I am now a converted loyal customer.
