Meijer is the Alice's Restaurant of retail, as you can get anything you want. My shopping list is proof, as I bought eye drops and Zyrtec (ah, springtime in Michigan!), a new top for dinner with the fam and a bottle of Glen Morangie to take back to the Smokin'Hubster. I even visited later to put gas in the Beetle's tank. Sadly the store has converted many registers to self-service. I won't use them unless forced, as I like to keep people on the payroll. Only two registers were attended and the lines were a bit long. I didn't wait long before Cheryl - a super helpful and friendly sales associate - opened another line and brought a few of us over. This is the cleanest Meijer I have seen in a long time and the lines were not wrapped around the store. I can't tell you about the customer service because I haven't used any but I see everyone stocking and hyper focused and their tasks so that's a good thing. Seems that they have a very large liquor beer section that has a lot of sales - Don't judge me that's my area that's what I'm reviewing. Also if you're coming for food hot food in the morning they don't start serving hot until 11:00 a.m. how do I know this It's because it's 10:45 so I'm casually walking around the store buying time and reviewing. Lol! Side note since everything has gone to self check out and goes a little bit faster but unfortunately I only see one register open that has a physical person. Organization and stocked shelves are plentiful at this Meijer now. This is our "go-to" Meijer now. Initially, it was only because it was closer, but even though it's busy, the aisles are fairly wide and the shelves are fairly stocked at all hours of the day. The flow of the store works too. We can make our list based off of the order of how the items appear, easily! This Meijer is also around some pretty great food options too, so it's nice to grab a bite to eat before so you're not impulse buying food that looks good even though you don't need it. read more

the deli counter is the slowest service in the western hemisphere. i literally walked to the other end of the store while the guy cuts one deli item for one customer ahead of me. This location is on S. Rochester Rd. in the busy city, neighborhood and area of Rochester Hills. It is my go to store when I need a bunch of "Fresh Flowers" in the Spring to place in the vase at the cemetery nearby instead of another Meijer near my home. Always fresh, colorful yet inexpensive prices in the Floral department. Today on Thursday the 17th I needed a few items I forgot this week elsewhere to make for a last minute quick dinner. I purchased 10 items and used the U-Scan self serve check out. There was a bit of a 10 minute wait since it was afternoon time. The check out employee was busy assisting 12 check out machines quickly and efficiently knowing her cashier assistance job. Guess a busy time of the day here. The sale of the week was 10 for $10.00 and I noticed the store was stocked and shelves neatly organized for the $1.00 merchandise. The bakery area is beautiful and always eye appealing when looking for cookies, pies, donuts, breads and smells fresh and well stocked. I did enjoy viewing the center isles of sale items to help a shopper grab and go. Note: If the designated shelf is low or empty of inventory when shopping, try the main center which have more to see and buy such as the "Meijer brand potato chips" delicious. (photo attached) The produce department always neat, clean and bug free with employees working to keep items organized. No issues here either. I did not shop in the meat or frozen departments so I can not comment. Although I do not chat with any employee since I shopped and left in 20 minutes or less I saw quite a few well dressed employees working hard at their jobs in different departments to keep the store stocked before the weekend coming. I noticed when waiting in line up front to check out they are having a 40% off clothing sale in all departments for all family members. I returned a quart of strawberries this past week because when I opened the quart there was a moldy berry in the center of the quart. The lady at the Customer Service counter told me that next time I want to return the fruit it will not be accepted. She said people will be told to throw away the bad berry and wash the rest and eat it. No way am I going to give my Grandchild moldy fruit. Is this true? On May 21 I was the 2nd person in line and spent 1 hour getting checked out. Neither the person In front of me nor I had even half full baskets. We were told that there had been a power outage. This was NOT true. Meijer's own system was messed up and charges couldn't be processed until entered multiple times. Two days later I received a message stating that customers were charged twice and we need to contact our bank. I was one who incurred that erroneous charge. Meijer should have closed the store(s), not continued to inconvenience us, and taken their losses for their problems. Now I have had to call my bank to correct Meijer's mess, The charges remain pending and Meijer's incompetence remains I corrected. Who takes the loss? Who is inconvenienced? The customer, NOT incompetent Meijer. Shame on them. What is our compensation...nothing. read more

Wow! Friday afternoon before the long Holiday weekend and there are two cashiers on lanes with 10 people waiting in each, another 15 waiting in the self check outs! Not a manager to be seen! Lee Crawford the store director should be fired or reprimanded! Rick Keyes- i think you need to do a surprise visit and see what your company continues to do so poorly! Additionally, the store is so dirty, shelves are not stocked and you can tell the employees are not happy! Something needs to change! read more

went here on dec 21 in the afternoon. the lines for the cashiered registers were easily a minimum half hour wait, the lines for self-checkout also stretched far and wide. once we got to our cashier, he told us he had been working since 4am, and it was now just past noon. We spoke to a manager about the insanely long lines and she said she had no staff and there was a recent mass-quitting (or employee exodus of some kind). seems to me that if there is a large group of people quitting at the same time, that those people need to be reached out to and meijer should work with them to keep their employees. Sure beats not having any staff to work during holidays! Also, they were out of stock of a lot of grocery items, many many empty shelves. no dairy milk, no soy sauce. They have most of the Zevia flavors I like, and they have the low-calorie hamburger buns I like too. They're hard to get at other places. The staff is really friendly. I'm sure this a situation where I live out of town now so I never get to come here, but I LOVE this store! When we were in Detroit for a Lions game we stopped in Rochester Hills before we headed home, and we stocked up on some liquors and Faygo that we can't get at home. If for absolutely no other reason, I love that you can buy liquor in this store! You can't do that in NY. To me, this is a nicer store like a Target, but a full grocery store, too. I also found lots of U of M, Michigan State and Detroit Lions merchandise while I was there, too, that again I'm sure is no big deal if you live there. I have been coming to this Meijer once a week, every week for 17 years. I don't go anywhere else unless I have to, or unless I just need one or two quick things. If you don't like the inconvenience of a huge grocery store, then you just won't like Meijer. I actually don't care for the new Meijer on Adams at M 59 because it is too small and they don't have as good a selection/variety/everything we like. Here's why I love Meijer: This store is always clean and bright and the isles are wide. The selection is second to none, including all kinds of organics and alternative foods, like gluten-free. The produce is excellent! Always the freshest or as fresh as any other grocery store in town. Bar none, Meijer has the best prices. If I go anywhere else, including Kroger, I always end up paying about 20% more. Plus MPerks is great! I regularly get $8-10 off my total basket. I know this Meijer has its faults. During busy times, they cannot keep the shelves stocked, they run out of carts, and the lines can get long or they don't have enough checkouts open. You just have to know when NOT to go. Like smack dab in the middle of Saturday or Sunday. Shelves are sparse as they restock Sunday and Monday evenings. As a new addition, I cannot say enough positive things about curbside pick up. it has changed my life and it only cost seven dollars. Literally just seven dollars. No markup on each item liked shipt. The service is always feels like it's the hardest thing for ppl to do their job that they get paid for. This cashier is always an issue with me. Why I get her is bc their lanes are only two lanes open and I have to much items to go to self check out. SYEDA IS HER NAME. always her attitude is blah for me. This is the last straw of me shopping there due to her. The issue was I was purchasing over $300 in food and some items for my kids. Dino slippers that were on sale for $8. The tag must of fell off , I was buying two sets for my boys. She said without the tag I cannot ring them up. She called a guy over to see what she should do. I told her the lady in the shoe area helped me with the items. She will know. The guy explained without the tag we can't ring them up. Mind u the shoe area is about 20-30' for him and he wouldn't go get the tag or item number bc it was to much work for him. Don't know why he was there except after being told I can't purchase items he began to stand there to talk to cashier about the movie he was going to see or whatever. I then said to him and her you guys won't sell me items but talk about movies. Mind u , 4 ppl behind me pissed bc they want to go. I said I won't buy the slippers bc ppl r waiting. But leaving the store I got more pissed off bc it was so hard for them to solve the problem but talking about their outside life while I'm cashing out. They obviously were inconvenienced by me as a customer. This is the second time I had issues with this cashier . I let the first time go. I think Meijers need to teach their workers that they are there to work. So if a customer has no tag they should solve the issue and not tell me tough luck. She's rude. The guy with her was stupid to continue a convo while I'm there but lazy to go get the number. Your workers need to do better . He was more worried about how he just came from lunch and talking to her while she had a line. This rating is based off multiple times being disappointed!!!! I've been to this Meijer's a few times, and overall, I think I like it better then the one off Adam's Road. Granted, it's a pain in the butt to get in and out of due to it being off Rochester Road, but it's still a nice store. Place is always busy when I come here, regardless of the time of day. The place is large, well stocked and has plenty of stuff to choose from. Yes, it's the regular Meijer's stock, but I just love the layout. The two times I've been here they've had lots of checkouts open. The seafood department is great. They have the best (and cheapest) crab legs in town! I sometimes go to this store, mostly because I happen to be in the area. I often dread going. Earlier, I wanted to get a seasonal item. They Apps and website often claim something is in stock when it isn't. For Meijer, it gives you no answer as to WHERE it is in the store - so you almost always have to ask, if it isn't obvious. Today, I asked three different people - usually I can't find anyone. This time, I actually did. The first claimed she thought it was somewhere on the opposite end of the store. I trek to that end, still can't seem to find it where she said she thought it was. Ask the few other employees, get a shrug. ok, so I sort of look one last time. I happen to see the first lady - she actually starts looking with me. (Thank you to her, because most employees (if you can find someone at all), just shrug and say "can't help ya") - we still can't find it. "Probably don't have any left." "Yeah, I was thinking that. Ok." I thank her for trying, start to leave, she flags me down a minute later. ONE in stock. Thank her for her help. I go to the checkout (I know this is typical of these stores, but it makes no sense to have 20-25 lanes that are always "dead," only keep three people working these lanes (two to check out, and one for problems with self checkout). After that, I wait in line (the self check out lanes always seem to break down, so I usually try for actual people) - finally get to payment, guy starts yelling at me and is very rude - "NO BARCODE! I DON'T SCAN!" and angrily slams it on the other side. Tried showing him in the app the item and price, he just screamed at me more. (I understand, you're stressed, but don't take it out on the customers). Price was more than what was stated on some items, but ok, I don't want to hold up the line - I pay. Guy looks like he's gonna explode in rage. Wish him a good night anyway. I decided I would actually try to complain... waited twenty minutes at customer service, and the line didn't move. (Two people working there). Gave up. This is fairly typical of the store - checkout clerks are rude a majority of the time. Item inventories are almost never updated properly (not the only store that has it, but it's frustrating that something is always "in stock," and then you spend ages looking just to find out the website wasn't accurate AGAIN), and employees are almost always difficult to find. It's almost always a 25 - 30 minute wait for a checkout lane with a person (but the self checkouts always seem to need assistance, too). I cut way back on shopping here already; but I think this will be my last time at this store. read more

Horrible manager Theron and a bad example of customer service he is displaying in-front of the other employees, I walked in a few minutes before closing and the manager Theron said to me you have a few min with a grin on his face I should've know he was up to no good, I drove 20 min away to make it before closing to get some stuff for my kids in the morning and I get to the checkout line and he tells me, the system automatically shuts down at 12am et and he has no control over it. Well why in the Heck as I was walking to the front to pay he calls out over the intercom "it's 12:02 if there are any shoppers remaining head to the front register as we are now closed". 15 seconds later I walk up to the front registers and he tells me everything is shut down, I've been living in Rochester since 1999 and have once in a blue moon walk into this meijer or any meijer or Kroger or Walmart before closing and have never been told that I was unable to Cashout after closing, he purposely closed the registers knowing I was shopping and I told him pls call a manager to ring me up this stuff is for my kids, and he smiled and grinned and said I cannot all the register are shut down, than wthhhh when I walked in and you greeting me didnt you say Sir if you don't make into the front by 12am you cannot Cashout, such a classless and a Jerk move. Fire this Prikkk asap, he needs to work on the line or in a labor job where he has no interaction with customers. This is supposed to be my neighborhood Meijer. With that said, I don't really like going there because it seems like the whole neighborhood goes there at once. The shelf stay empty and it is next to impossible to get everything you want. Having done instacart (working)off and on since the pandemic, If I get a customer that wants me to shop at that store I don't pick up that job. The staff is iffy too. Sometimes you get some outstanding people but just the other day when I went in .... and had to stand in a ridiculously long line... They had the stuff check out wide open but they only had one cashier and 1 manager working a cash register.... These people just don't want to pay for decent help it's not laziness on the employees it's lack of money that Meijer's does not want to give. Anyway, When I got rung up the cashier didn't want to seem to back my Groceries. The woman before me backed her own but I'm not paying for groceries and then bagging them myself so I waited on him to bag my groceries and he was incredibly slow in doing so you could tell he had no desire to do so and was mad I didn't take the hint like the woman before did. I went to customer service and woman was nice and apologized so that's why a 2 star Not just a one star. I still go in there if I'm in that area and I need to grab something from the store but I prefer the Washington Township location much more even though it is a ways from there. read more

Very dumpy looking and disorganized Meijers! I was in the area after going to a theater nearby and figured I'd get my shopping done. First I was trying to park on the grocery side and parked on the right side which is the side of my normal Meijers. Well that was wrong!! Complete opposite side!! But the entire store just seemed out of whack with me having a hard time finding certain vegetables. It needs a serious remodel!! On the positive side the cashier was great and it was a really busy day there and she was very friendly and efficient. read more

This store is an ongoing experience in agony. It is consistently mismanaged and the overall store experience is simply awful. Overall I feel like I spend a premium amount of money to shop here vs. Other stores in the area. What I get in exchange for my money is good food, but overall the checkout experience is a kick in the crotch. Every time I'm about to spend $200 in groceries I often wait 20 or 30 minutes for the automated checkout line system to work for someone else. When I finally get the chance to check out It's just too damned slow. Every item scan delays another scan by 7 or seconds or so. I often sit and wait for the scanner to keep up with me. I can't manually key in Barcodes after an item gets wet in my basket. I detest waiting for a team member to come over and "help" by forcing me to wait for something I could have easily done myself. Overall the checkout actively encourages theft not because people aren't scanning items, but because the experience of doing it yourself and waiting for the garbage system to function is awful. I'm not a grandma using a computer for the first time. MOVE! When I press a button I shouldn't have to wait 5 seconds for the screen to respond. Overall I just simply skip paying for items that I know will cause problems. My time is valuable and if you make it difficult to give you money I'm certainly not going to help you. Hire some staff already. The concept for automated checkout clearly does not work for large orders. I do that understand why I get a better checkout experience at Aldi. The excuse I here is to "Keep Prices low" . I'm sure your shrink is eating you alive and you are spending money on a system that just doesn't work. read more

Got coupons before Christmas of $5.00 off purchase. It says on the coupon you can use up to 10 per order. Bought $171 worth of stuff and it only accepted one coupon. After 10 minutes of waiting for the manager, they would not honor the coupon restrictions. Went to service desk and had to take care of it. Yhelady did take care of it and was super helpful. I've had issues with their curbside pickup multiple times. Orders are not ready when they're supposed to be. Items missing, and I was told they were too busy to help me at the moment and hung up. Then they had me waiting for 30 minutes before they could figure it out. The wait times for the pickup is terrible. I get everywhere is understaffed, but other grocery store chains are are to get it done more efficiently- which is why I will be doing my pickups with them from now on. I do no recommend picking up at this store. read more

Great place to get all my shopping done in one place. Groceries, hardware, home goods, pharmacy. I like the idea of one stop shopping and the time I save by not going to multiple locations to pick up a few things at each place. Waited in line for about 45 min on 1-2-23. 3 checkouts open and both lines for "self checkouts" were crazy, one had about 18 ppl in it and the other had at least 25. I saw several staff wandering around store and when asked why more checkouts weren't open they said they were stocking the shelves. Open some registers and push the customers through then stock the shelves. Ridiculous! No customer service! read more

I will start this review off by saying that I like animals. If a store chooses to sell animals, they should keep the habitats clean and the animals fed. I go to this location pretty often and the fish tanks are filthy and full of dead fish. Several times the fish have had ick as well. The Meijer on Adams is better with their animal care and cleanliness. I won't support places that don't care for the animals they sell. Will not go to this Meijer location again. read more
