Their cake and filling choices were mind-boggling (I swear I drooled when they mentioned chocolate mousse cake and chocolate buttercream frosting... but I digress) - I ended up going with vanilla cake and white buttercream to please Ken, but I rebelled slightly, adding a thin layer of strawberry preserves above the inner layer of frosting. Their half sheet cake comes with two layers not the more popular one layer, and feeds 40-50 (we had 40 family members at the party, and there was at least 1/3rd of the cake left). Their 'normal' decoration on top is gorgeous. Gorgeous. Fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries and blueberries - some of it sparkle sugared) and dark chocolate accents. $50. I have no idea if that's expensive or not, but I'd buy another cake from Petit 4 in a heartbeat! OK, on to the flavor, which is most important after all (a gorgeous cake only gets you so far). Tender, airy, spongy cake with a definite vanilla flavor. The frosting... absolute perfection. No grit. No crunchy outside. No teeth squeekingly sweet, fake frosting here! Light, smooth, creamy.
