First of all, their prices are way over the top than other groceries. Do we need to pay more for a store that offers cleaner floors or a super friendly greeter who - ( is nice enough and always has a smile ) - but when asked if he can help a customer out at the self checkout lane because the machine won't scan a barcode on an item - he basically says he can't help you nor can he radio someone who can. Not sure what his duties are as a customer service greeter. It's a nice store but has a lot of weak links. I am more concerned as a customer to get in a store and checkout my items than be slowed down at the front door. Other than that the store is awesome. read more

What's not to love? The food selection is great. I managed to find all the ingredients in my Korean and healthy food dishes. I even picked up some candies from England that were to die for. The deli are always ready to make you stuff and the produce is nice and fresh. I don't drink, but two whole aisles of alcohol would seem to cover most needs. I was on a pre-storm/Christmas shopping mission this morning. Crestfallen, I didn't find any ricotta cheese. The associate stocking the butter said he'd check. Didn't find any. He did say they received a lot of stock but hadn't had the chance to stock it yet. He went to the back room and checked with his boss. Next thing you know, she came out with some and handed me my container. I then headed over to the baking supplies area in search of cinnamon dots. I asked the associate who was stocking the area. He got down on his hands and knees then reached deep in the back of the shelf. He found some. Way to go Meijer! read more

I don't have anything against Meijer but I feel management at this store needs to go back to school or be retrained on how to handle staffing, improving store coverage, and understanding and responding to peak times before I rate them any higher. The store is in a good location and they carry any item you would want to find in a general department store or a grocery. With that said good luck finding someone to help you in any department at honestly any given time. In my experience shopping at this location there are usually more outside vendors stocking their shelves than an actual Meijer employees. It seems to me that they never have enough cashiers at any time of day but it is much more noticeable between 5-8 when you are waiting 30-60 minutes to checkout. I understand them wanting to go to a self check out model like a number of other national chains, but that in and of itself is not a solution to their issues. Why are more than half of the self checkouts closed at any given time? Why do you only assign one cashier or clerk to their self checkouts at any given time. Why does a cashier or clerk have to bend over and blow in the coupon slot to make it work? When you spend more time in the checkout line than you do shopping in the store you have a major problem. When management sees this day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year you another much larger problem when they leave it unaddressed. I am as critical as I am when it comes to the Angola Meijer store because I have shopped at a dozen other Meijer's in 4-5 cities and never experienced the same consistent issues and failures as this location. I would not recommend this store to anyone. If you must shop here I would highly advise against ever stepping foot inside between 5-8 any day of the week. Time is money and for the little bit you save on their sale items, you can easily lose waiting in line paying them for the privelage of wasting your time. read more

I will never be going back to this store. I was ruing to the store with my boyfriend just to grab a few things. When we first got there before we looked at anything we started to get followed by one of their employees. HE followed us all the way to the back restroom and waited. As a women I don't feel safe having a man follow me to the restroom and wait for me to be done. Then after this he followed us as we grabbed our four items and early on we noticed him following. He followed us for 45 minutes and at the end of it all accused us of stealing at stopped us when trying to leave the store. Mind you we only got four items including coffee, sushi, a $15 ring and a $6 pack of Pokémon cards. After we finally get to leave the store my boyfriend goes back in to confront him. The employee changed his story many times and there was no reason to follow us as soon as we entered the not even touching any products. I would not go here if you are alone and a woman I will never be going back here. read more

Slow checking out I'm a Meijer fan but this one is so slow checking out. Even with the self check out. Need more workers during visit after noon hours at least so ice cream doesn't melt while your in the checkout. Not the friendly employees like Terre Haute has either. So that makes it negative. Pretty much what you would expect.. Groceries are average-priced, but produce is by far better here than the (only) other grocery store in town. Their customer service is also a bit better than the other store. While they do have a clothing section, I don't typically find anything worthwhile there. This Meijer saved my wedding day!! Our caterer fell through just hours before our wedding and my husband and his friends were able to get our entire dinner for 150 people from the deli! The food was delicious and we got a lot of compliments from our guests! I cannot thank the staff from the deli enough for rallying like they did for us and getting everything we needed in such a short amount of time! You all are AMAZING!! read more

I'm not sure if it's possible to move any slower than the women working here do, especially the check out lanes. The workers in the deli are extremely slow as well even when there are several people waiting. The other day they had one deli worker and about eight people waiting and the girl moved at a snail's pace. God forbid she breaks a sweat! I'll be shopping at Walmart from now on. read more
