I live different months in MN & PA states & here, using the Y pool swim to ease joints/back issues…read more This is no doubt the best Y w/its clean, modern locker/shower facilities, kid's pool with slides. But, there's only one 4 lanes lap pool so I have no idea why they had to "rest/close" the pool from 1-4pm weekdays. In both MN & PA, lap pool is opened all day 5:15am-8pm weekdays. If lap pool was used for swim team or life guard training, they'd open the kid's pool for lap swim. In Philly, there is one pool with no kids' pool. So certain hours, 2-3 lanes of pool are reserved for kids lesson/ fam swim, leaving 2 lanes for lap swim. But the pool is in use fr 5:15 till closing at 8 weekdays or 6/ 4pm weekends, except for Friday 2.5 hrs of pool cleaning. They tried to maximize the pool's usage to benefit members. Why such a waste of resources here in Avon, IN? I saw that the staff were just hanging out, doing nothing near the pool while members were not allowed 1-4pm to use the pool nor the sauna. It would be the best time for some ppl to swim/sauna in these 3 wasted hours. I hope that the management of Hendricks Y will reconsider their pool hours and not waste such a wonderful resource for its community. I will upgrade this to a 5 star if this is changed for the better (or even 6; ).

They…read morehave all the workout equipment, the tanning beds, locker rooms etc. They do have a parking lot and it's free parking for guest. My visit was on Monday July 10, 2023. As you get to the planet fitness. You just see a bunch of restaurants and stores around since it's right next to the outlet mall. As you enter, You are greeted by staff members and you check in with your card or app to enter the gym. The desk is on the left. You have all the weights on your right, cardio is in the middle, abs and stretching area in the back. You have your Locker rooms in the middle of the gym on the left. It's really easy to navigate through the gym since it's a little planet fitness and just a complete cycle. You shouldn't get lost. The locker rooms are very small. Only handful of lockers in the area. The staff members was good. As soon I walked into the building. They both greeted me and said "Welcome to planet fitness" It kinda shocked me because I am not used to that with other gyms I have been to. I really felt welcome but at the end when I was leaving. They changed the staff members and didn't say bye or have a nice day. I even took my ear piece out to be respectful, just in case they did say something but looked like they was talking to other people so I just walked on out. (They was checking in, Just hanging out) I guess it depends on the staff on how you are greeted in the gym. The gym was clean. Clean as any gym can be. The bathrooms was very nice and clean. You can tell that they are really taking care of the gym with cleaning up and making sure it's not dirty. Very good job! I felt really safe at this gym. It's in a very nice area with a outlet mall right next door. When I was inside the gym. Everyone was just working out and doing what they need to do. It's a safe environment. I do recommend this planet fitness. I just wished that all staff members would be on the same page by greeting everyone and not just some staff members but what can you do. That's mostly all businesses out there. Overall 4.8/5

I decided to save my 100th review for one of my favorite places ever…read more I guess you could say that a Groupon deal changed my life. Really. A few years ago, my friend and I needed a new place to get our regular Zumba fix, she found a Groupon for Studio Z, we gave it a shot and the rest is history. I won't go into too much detail on all the classes and instructors as the scheduling and instructors can change. I would recommend checking their Facebook for daily updates on the schedule. Let me start by saying this, this place is definitely worth visiting. Everyone here is incredibly nice and wants you to have a blast and meet your fitness goals as well. Tons of different class times and various instructors. They ALL rock and bring their own unique style to their classes. I have never not had fun in a class. You will find that some classes can be a bit more high energy/impact than others, so I recommend trying a few instructors to find what works best for you and your style. They currently offer one price to take any of the classes they offer that day, that means you could try multiple classes for the price you would normally pay for one elsewhere! They also offer unlimited type of passes. Check their website for current pricing and times of classes. Should you try this place out, don't be intimidated if others seem to know the songs really well, they just might as this place has many regulars, come try it out and as long as you are moving, you are doing Zumba right! Also, if you see me there (I try to go a few times a week), feel free to say hi to me, I love meeting new Zumba lovers! They also offer some alternatives to regular Zumba including Turbo Kick, Circuit Challenge and Zumba in the Circuit (Zumba + Circuit, one of my favorites!). Special shout out to Mary, one of the owners of Studio Z for being one of the most motivating, inspiring, crazy fun people ever. She is so welcoming to everyone and her classes are awesome. She is also a personal trainer and those services are offered here at as well. She has inspired many people (including myself) to go to the training to teach Zumba ourselves. She is even currently offering an option to allow these instructors to try out teaching with a free class option on Friday nights, amazing! I could go on and on about my love for Studio Z but really you should just get your butt here and get dancing!

They really make an effort to get to know you here, and the studio has a wide array of ages that take classes. No gymtimidation! I personally take the Pound classes, which are offered 6 days a week. It is a drumming style workout with a great mix of music. You can either pay $8 for 1 class, or do a 10 class pass for $55. I think $5.50 a class is VERY reasonable for a specialized workout like this one. They also offer lots of other classes including spinning, TRX, Zumba and more. They also have memberships as well if you want to do multiple types of classes during the month.

It was a gym, weights, floor pressess, squat racks, dumbbells up to 150 lbs fat bars, chains and some really good machines. It was neither a powerlifting gym or body building. It was designed for all kinds of training for all ages and very welcoming. Yes there are some broken and used equipment, but that describes me! After 40 years of powerlifting this was a refreshing change to the fitness gyms of today. I felt at home. This from a contributor to powerlifting USA hardcore gyms. Thanks for a great workout.

It's definitely not as well kept as some of the other gyms in the area, but it has it's own charm. The gym has a good amount of free weights, machines and cardio equipment. Unfortunately, most of it is really old, and they're short on bars sometimes. Still, I have never had a problem with the equipment, and despite it's age, it does it's job. There is a separate room with some really heavy weights for the hardcore. The clientele skews towards the more hardcore rather than bored housewives. This tends to intimidate some people, but everyone has always been very considerate towards me. It's a good value, only 15 dollars a month if you sign up for an entire year. It's 30 dollars if you sign up on a month by month basis and 75 for 3 months at a time. They also have specials occaionally. You also get unlimited access to tanning and free movie rentals. Yeah, they have free movie rentals for some reason. Judging from the selection, I think they raided a Blockbuster that was going out of business. In other words, it's mostly B-movies with a few new releases and some classics peppered in. My only complaint is the extremely limited child care services. It's basically a small, unsupervised playpen with some toys in it. I don't have kids so this in itself isn't an issue but there's been a few times when some welfare queen will bring her 12 kids to the gym and they end up running amok, playing on equipment and the like. There's no place for that at a gym. Despite this complaint, I've been coming to this place for about a year and I really enjoy it. Don't let's it's run down appearance fool you. Oh yeah, they've also started keeping some old weight lifting magazines from the 80's and 90's around which is pretty amusing.

You know, only one of the most BASIC movements in all of weight training? Yeah not here. Theres a cable pulldown machine from 1973 off to the side, but no cable row to be seen. How about we cover the basics before we move on to niche single use machines. While we're on the topic of useless niche equipment, how about not having a BASIC close grip attachment. I'm not talking about some niche rubberized fancy grip close grip attachment, I'm talking about a piece of steel... with two handles... approximately 3-6 inches apart.... Again let's cover the basics before we move on to equipment that looks cool. I'm all for niche equipment. I love a plate loaded hack squat, which yall also don't have. But you'll never hear me complain about that because I KNOW that's a niche personal preference. However, if yall had a hack squat machine but no squat rack, that's still not acceptable even though I personally might like that. Having niche single use equipment doesn't make it acceptable to completely ignore the basics.

A few things I appreciate about this specific gym: 1. Personal greetings from the trainers and receiving occasional texts checking in. Accountability is key and it really helps me when I feel like I have someone who helps hold me accountable to my goals. 2. The gym is small but never really feels crowded because of how fast each round goes by. The 3 minutes in each round with a small break in between helps the workouts feel super manageable. 3. The workouts change every day and I know that even though it's 30 minutes, I'm getting a GREAT workout. I've been feeling sore (in a good way) as my body adjusts to this. And because it's only 30 minutes it's very easy to work into your schedule. 4. You can go as many times as you want during their open hours which is stellar. 5. Kickboxing is a great workout overall and I can't emphasis enough the stress relief it'll provide! The workout will hit a little bit of everything with arms, legs, and core. There are no class times so you'll be able to come in whenever it's open. The hours vary but typically will be open early in the morning and later in the evening. I will say what gives this gym 5 stars is the 2 primary trainers there, Sadie and Savannah. Although they are younger l, it's clear they have a strong interest in the field and wanting to help you achieve your fitness goals. They quickly offer easier alternatives for injuries and more challenging progressions if you want to repeat the cycle a 2nd time. They also are very good with feedback on proper boxing techniques as well.
