I was waiting outside early for the bus to Atlanta. The Megabus showed up in a black American Coach bus, but since this station is a hub for multiple bus lines, no one thought to ask the AMERICAN COACH bus if it was the Megabus. In addition, the bus driver had no sign, and there was no email sent out to update us to look out for a carrier change. So I, including multiple other passengers, missed the bus. What is worse is that I calmly called customer service and explained the situation. She spoke with me and after 3 minutes, refused to give a refund or ticket voucher, and hung up on me in the middle of my sentence. I have never in my life had such rude customer service from any company. I will not be travelling with a company that cannot make amends for mishaps and treat customers with common courtesy. read more

The bus I booked a week in advance arrived one hour after the scheduled time. I had to be in Orlando at a specific time to catch a flight. I had to catch a taxi home and drive 1.5 hrs. to make my flight. The whole thing, with airport parking, cost me $135!!! When I finally returned home from my trip, I called Megabus for a refund and they said no. They said that the scheduled bus was late and that it was my fault for not hanging out for an hour, which would have made me miss my flight. Terrible, unreliable service they provide. I would have been happy to pay twice the fee for RELIABLE service. WILL NEVER CHOOSE MEGABUS AGAIN!!!! read more

Not only does the crappy website not work when someone is trying to book a reservation, y'all have a nerve to try to charge people a to book over the phone with you crappy agents who don't listen, like to talk over people, and can't understand simple friggin English and requests. This is scam to get your money. My first booking was canceled, they only refund the $2 booking fee but not the $10 ticket fee. I booked it again for a different day, got a message in the morning saying it will be 60-90 minutes behind the schedule - end up giving it up. This is by no mean a "service", more like a scam to get your money. read more

I read tons of scary reviews before my Megabus trip and I was a little nervous, but I want to say that my experience was very pleasant. I think most of the bad reviews that you'll read are from people who had some sort of unusual issue and because things didn't work out they way they wanted it to, they are blaming Megabus. These are cheap bus tickets and they are non-refundable. If they don't accommodate you because you don't know how to read and follow the rules it's not their problem. My bus was only a little late to depart -- no big deal. The drivers were nice and while the bus was not luxurious, it was fairly clean and the seats were comfortable. Here are some tips/things to consider: 1. Worried about luggage or space? Buy two tickets! If you buy far enough in advance the prices are so cheap. You can have a row to yourself and extra baggage allowance for less than the airlines charge to check a bag. Otherwise, weigh your bag and wear deodorant! 2. Print your confirmation so if you lose your phone or the battery dies you won't have an issue. They will not let you on without your confirmation number. 3. Arrive early. You can track your bus online to see where it is but just don't be late. 4. Consider tipping the driver(s). Sure... it's not required or even expected, but these men and women have your life in their hands so maybe it would be a nice thing to do. 5. Save yourself some drama and expect delays. These are buses driving on highways and they can experience traffic delays. Give yourself several hours before any flight plans -- just in case. 6. It's a bus. The ride is bumpy. It's not like flying in an airplane or riding in a car. 7. Don't expect Wifi access and because of the bumpy ride, using your laptop might be a bit challenging. Best to download some music, movies or podcasts or take a nap. 8. The bathroom is like a porta-potty. Don't expect people to be any more considerate in this bathroom than they are anywhere else (again, the bumpy ride doesn't help this situation). I did not use it but waited until the rest stops which were just fine. 9. The space under your seat can fit a pretty stuffed backpack. The drivers didn't seem to have an issue with a little extra stuff. I had a blanket and pillow with me as well and it was fine. 10. THE SINGLE, MOST IMPORTANT PIECE OF ADVICE IS TO DRESS VERY WARMLY. I was told by a friend that it would be cold and wore sweats and brought a blanket and I was still freezing. People were shivering and begging, but the drivers cannot adjust the temperature. Wear long-johns, sweater, coat, scarf, wool hat, gloves. Seriously. You'll thank me later. I did an overnight from Gainesville to New Orleans. Specific to this route, the bus will stop at a Love's Travel Stop first, then Tally (you cannot get off the bus here), then another Love's Travel Stop, then Mobile (you cannot get off the bus here), then New Orleans. Plan accordingly. The rest stops are nice. They sell lots of stuff including blankets (in case you didn't listen to my single, most important piece of advice). There's an Arby's at one and McDonald's at the other. You should have plenty of time to get some food and do your business, but don't dilly-dally. There are stories of people getting left behind but our drivers waited for a couple people. But it's annoying to those of us who hurry back to have to wait on you. Don't be a douche. Also, if you're traveling alone, you either need to take your valuables with you when you get off a the rest stop or establish a trusting relationship with a stranger to watch your things. People can be jerks and might steal your stuff while you're gone. Be smart. My biggest complaint is that they had to turn the lights on and make a very loud announcement at every stop (every couple hours). I understand why they need to do this but on an overnight trip, it doesn't make it easy to get much sleep. And please, oh please, don't be "that guy" or "that lady" who for some reason feels the need to speak on their cellphone so loudly that everyone on the bus can hear you. Trust me when I say that you can speak softly into your phone and the person on the other end will still here you. I don't care if it's in the middle of the day or middle of the night, we are not interested in hearing your conversation. Have some freaking consideration for the people around you! There's always one... right? Luckily, our crazy lady got off the bus in Tally. Just remember... it's a bus and it's cheap, so temper your expectations. It'll get you there, but stuff happens. Purchased my ticket to Atlanta on-line. Was told I would be emailed my ticket, and the same info would be sent to my phone. Neither action took place. I was given an order code but the extremely rude driver said "that's not how we do business" when I tried to show it to him, and slammed the door in my face and took off. When I tried to get a refund on the phone, they said I needed my ticket number. Hello! They didn't send it. The robots on their phones don't know or care to know how to help with a non-revenue producing call. I want my refund! Not only am I out $35.00,but I missed a really important event in Atlanta. This was really a terrible experience. I thought that I couldn't of had any lower expectations because I had taken the Megabus many times before and over half the time it's late. This time was by far the worst though. The bus was four hours late and I called customer service several times trying to find out when the bus would come. Every time they would tell me they couldn't get in contact with the bus driver and they didn't know when it would show up. So I got to hang out at a bus station outside for four hours. I'm fine with the bus being late cause that's within my expectations, but the complete lack of communication of how late is unacceptable. read more

The worst Customer service that I saw till today. They didn't have any tracking details of the bus and if the bus was delayed for 3 hours MEGABUS suggested us to wait at the bus stop for the whole time. read more

Our trip from Atlanta went very smoothly -- on time and friendly. The loading us on could hAvd been more efficient -- it's cold! It was a great way to travel with small children though we've only tried it once. read more
