They have outside seating and inside seating we chose inside as it was still cool outside. My husband had the olives as an appetizer. The only thing was, they were not pitted. Otherwise, they were delicious. I had the spaghetti Bolognese and he had the ribeye steak. The pasta dish was delicious way too much for one person to eat. My husband's ribeye was cooked to perfection. My husband have the local beer and I have a soda. When we first came in, they gave us a couple of rolls. The place was so crowded at the time. The decor was beautiful wooden walls with gigantic chandeliers, a beautiful stained glass mural and a giant fish tank and they had a big fire pit in the middle. If we've ever come back to Belgium, we would definitely come here.

A friend and I had lunch, afternoon coffee, and dessert here - and everything was pretty standard fare but high quality and tasty, which is all I ask for. I had the Flemish Stew and it was super savory, filling, and meaty (which is what I wanted after a long day of exploring!) It came with a little side salad (that was nothing to write home about) and Belgian fries, that were similar to the "steak fries" we are used to in the US, but a little thinner. The fries came with mayo for dipping which is an extremely Belgian thing (that I also love and have adopted myself at home). The coffee we had after lunch was Italian espresso and was creamy and delicious. It came with a little mini cookie treat for dipping! We wanted another sweet treat for dessert so we shared the Strawberry Belgian Waffle and it was superb. An extra fluffy waffle base with a scoop of ice cream on top, covered in strawberry slices and whipped cream. So good. Wonderful location, great views, and some standard fare for food (except the sweet stuff!) I'd recommend stopping here for a quick lunch or just for a fantastic waffle and coffee if you don't have time for a full meal.

The service was excellent. You can tell they have a higher level of professionalism. They served some bread with one of the best butters I have tried. I guiltily finished off the complementary bread and asked for more. They have an extensive list of wines, beers, and spirits. The server recommended Jungle Joy by the Brussels Beer Project. It was great! Of course I got the Tomahawk to share. Then I also split a lunch set menu, which came with salad and mussels. The salad was very refreshing and tasty. The mussels was such a large portion and tasted very fresh. It came with fries, which I loved! The kitchen cut our steak for us and served us salad on separate plates. That was very helpful! This lunch for two cost 81 euros without tip and tax. You wouldn't find this gem of a restaurant with this level of service and quality of food in Los Angeles.

The best bonus is the omelette station or eggs made to order. Those were so good and customizable. They also had some waffle irons. Amazing location, room, breakfast, and M Club…read more We started our recent tour of Christmas Markets in Brussels and were pleasantly surprised at how wonderful and convenient this hotel was. Our room was large by European standards, quite comfortable, and well equipped. And the service at the front desk, the restaurant, and the M Club was quite good. As Titanium guests, the very tasty breakfast was complimentary and the M Club a lovely refuge w/coffee, beverages, and snacks available 24/7 and in the evening alcohol and light bites including fresh waffles (note that the hotel resolved the issue of a previous reviewer and you now need the correct key card access). Old Town is a delightful pedestrian friendly village within Brussels with many wonderful sights, restaurants, shops that we loved to explore...not to mention the Grand Place and Christmas markets. And the Brussels North train station was a short walk away from which we took a very pleasant train ride to Bruges (I heartily recommend both the train and the town). There were always taxis right outside the hotel - one day we visited the Atomium/World's Fair area and on departure we took one to the TGV at Brussels Midi (since we had luggage). All in all we were quite thrilled with our stay at the Marriott Grand Place.

A second person at our table had asked for their steak Medium-Well and when it arrived it too was rare, very rare! Our waiter took both away without an apology and arrived back a short time later with two new plates. The chicken was now cooked through but the second steak was still rare. We hesitated before sending it back a second time but my friend was only interested in the steak on the menu. When we asked to send it back the waiter began to comment to us in a huff that this steak was what is called "medium-well" but he would begrudgingly take it back. For the record, both steaks were bright red all the way through so his response was unwarranted. The third steak was well done but it was obvious they had cut it in half to make sure and then flipped it upside down on the plate to cover this. Nothing was taken off the bill and no apology for the inconvenience was offered. Very poor standard.

We were seated immediately, but it took a good 15 min (and my asking) before anyone came over to take our order. The beer and waters came quickly, and the food followed right after. The steak was a little overcooked but edible. My son ordered chicken wings, which I thought tasted fine, but he didn't like. After the meal, don't wait around for a check. The place does its best to look and feel like a 'wild west' saloon, but take the time to look in more detail and it feels a little cheap and tacky. Nonetheless, the spirit of the far west is there and the menu backs this up with all the expected items, wings ribs, burgers, nachos and tacos. Unfortunately look and feel combined with an appetizing menu simple do not make up for the poor quality of the food. I like honesty and I'll commend the place for adding a small asterisk beside each and every ingredient that comes from the freezers. The downside of this is when more than half the dishes contain defrosted ingredients, including the first half of the burger list. We opted to share some nachos and stuffed jalapeno peppers before tucking into two burgers. Incidentally I opted for a burger where there was no asterisk next to the meat, whereas my partner went for one with the asterisk. No to worry though, both were equally poor. The meat was dry, tasteless and with even less add-ons inside than at any of the main fast-food chains. Needless to say it was a real disappointment. Not to mention the fries accompanying the burger which were shockingly bad (especially when your neighbor is a decent fritkot!). As for the starters, I thought the jalapeno were not too bad (despite their frozen origin), and the nachos tasted ok provided you stayed clear of the dips (they may not have come from a freezer, but the tin they came from was equally bad). I normally refrain from writing a review if I expect to put the lowest grade but seeing more than two stars when looking up this one gave me the impetus to take action.
