I met Jake many years ago after becoming friends with his mom. He was not the shredded, confident…read moreman that you see today. We became Facebook friends back then and I followed his posts. I began to see a huge change in him, pics of him at the gym, what he eats, his motivation. I decided to reach out to him last summer as 1. I was inspired by his posts and 2. I saw that he was offering personal training and diet plans. My weight and sedentary lifestyle were wreaking havoc not only on my body but on my mind and my self esteem. I reached out to him via Facebook, he immediately got back to me with his phone number. I called him and he asked me questions about my lifestyle and diet, he was very kind, non judgmental and said he'd put together a meal plan for me. We made an appointment to start training, or as I call it now, ass kicking. I arrived at his work space and he started small with stretching and weights. I spent a lot of time like a flounder, laying on the floor, he put fans on me at my request (it was August, extremely hot and I was extremely out of shape) we laughed.. a lot. We still do. I did quit for a month or so.. not because of him but because I was having some personal troubles. He reached out to me during that period just to check in, just to see if I was doing ok. I finally decided to go back in November? and I learned, to his credit, that it's not about getting skinny, it's not about looking like I did 20, even 10 years ago, (I turned 50! In October)
it's about taking care of yourself, mentally and physically. He pushes me past the limit that I think I'm capable of and I'm always amazed that I can, in fact, do what he thinks I can. I hurt my elbow last week and I could barely lift 5 lbs.. he kept telling me that the more I stretch and work my elbow the better it will feel. I told him that he was trying to kill me (I say that after every set) but lo and behold, my elbow started feeling better. This was last week and I have absolutely no pain in it now. Jake isn't just a personal trainer or meal plan guy, he's a kind, compassionate, funny guy. Very motivational. We talk about all kinds of stuff and laugh, again, a lot. He doesn't sugarcoat things (which personally, I respect) he'll send a text saying how proud he is of me if it's deserved. I strongly suggest that if you're looking to lose weight, feel better about yourself or just feel healthy again, please reach out to him. Not only will you gain a trainer and meal plan guy, you'll gain a friend who's truly invested in your well being.
