I went to MedVet on Sunday I took my 17 month old cookapoo. I had just taken him to Walled lake vets for dhpp shot, wellness checkup and heart worm test. The Vet said that he looked great no problems. The next day I found vomit in the floor. Later on he developed diarrhea. Nothing I did stopped it so I took him there to get medicine for the diarrhea. I explained everything to the person on the phone. She acted like she didn't hear me and asked for a thousand dollar deposit. I was worried they wouldn't give the medicine so I agreed. I called them and they said they were going to keep him over night which really upset me. I asked them why and they said they were going to do a complete blood workup and xrays. I told them it was not necessary he was just reacting to the shot. I told them I was a senior and couldn't afford it. But they didn't listen. All the test came back negative of course and then they charged me an additional $158.99 over and above the thousand dollar deposit. I am posting this to save other seniors from getting ripped off and getting their bills padded with unnecessary tests. I am going to post this every where I possible can. You can not just get away with robbing people at their most vulnerable !!! Barbara Melton read more

Great care with our cat. The staff is compassionate and our cat sensed it. He remained calm through the entire exam. The ER costs are very reasonable as well. The only downside was the wait, but I guess that is to be expected in an ER. read more

I just took my little guy here yesterday because he was having seizures. I absolutely 100% would recommend this place!!! They gave him an MRI right away! Ah ma zing. Yes- the cost was definitely up there, which is to be expected with a diagnostic testing such as this. They called me with every update before,during and after the procedure. They definitely gave me a piece of mind knowing my baby was safe. Now he's home and so far seizure free. I'm still waiting on the results, but I am relieved that my dog is back home with me. Everyone in this place was compassionate and wasted no time on trying to give me answers. The vet that I usually go to wanted to take more tests which meant more money. But if you know your loved one is having neurological issues, don't waste any time and money but go straight here!!! No pet should suffer anymore than they should by getting nonsense testing. We were sent by our regular vet there with our dog Tess in late March 2017, facing either a diagnosis of terminal brain cancer or (possibly treatable) encephalitis. My husband and I were emotional wrecks at the thought of losing our dog, who clearly had advanced symptoms. Both Dr. Wolfe and later Dr. Moore were very compassionate towards all of three of us and very gentle in explaining our situation following the MRI, and then the follow-up after we started treatment. Within a week we could see our old Tess returning to us, and today she is every bit the energetic, playful, and intelligent dog she was five years ago. We are so grateful to have been referred to AN/MRI and those wonderful doctors, and I would never hesitate to send anyone there. read more

They also have an after hours ER. I was very impressed. We were roomed right away. I did wait a bit to see someone after that but it wasn't awful. Prices we not crazy (as I expected they would be for an emergency) I would definitely recommend and will be back if we can't get in with our vet again. read more

If you love your dog, Do not ever take your beloved animal to this place. I was sent here by my Vet because we thought my dog Winchester had a type of seizure. On my first visit the Vet we saw was kind and caring. He examined my dog and made some recommendations. We weren't sure what was going on but an MRI or steroids were suggested. We followed up with our regular vet. As things progressed my dog was having problems walking and x-rays seems to show that there was a problem with his cruciate ligament. My dog was getting worst. We traveled to Toronto because we heard of a women who specializes in making braces to help dogs walk. We found out after seeing this therapist that this wasn't going to help my dog. he was getting weaker and much worst. We went back to the Animal Neurology and MRI Center after seeing the therapist in Toronto. This time we saw Dr. Wolf who is the owner. He had a very poor bedside manor, as he was evaluating my dog walking, apparently my dog wasn't walking fast enough for Dr. Wolf, and Dr. Wolf literally pushed my dog so hard he fell to the floor on his side. This was a dog who could barely even stand let alone walk. I was horrified. I swear I wanted to rip this man's eyes out, but being in shock I contained myself. We found out later that evening from our regular Vet, that Winchester had hemangiosarcoma, He died one week later. We did take Winchester to Michigan State University to see if there was anything at all that could be done. I was to distraught to do anything at the time, but a few weeks later I contacted the Animal Neurology & MRI Center to complain. At that time I did not know that Dr. Wolf was the owner. When I complained I spoke to a very rude woman who accused me of making this story up and that Dr. Wolf was a compassionate and animal loving man. When what can I expect when the man I am complaining about is the owner. I don't want anyone else to experience such cold and unprofessional behavior from a so called compassionate man. I told my regular Vet about what had happened and he told me that he has heard other stories about this man and his cold nature. Do yourself a favor and Go to Oakland Veterinary Referral Services, or Michigan State University, where they care about the life of your beloved animal. read more

Sadly, pets suffer from many neurological diseases or injuries just like people. Not only is this place open 24/7 for all emergencies but they also specialize in neurology and have one of the few pet MRI's available in the area. The staff are absolutely the best in all aspects. They never talk down to you but instead explain what happened and what to expect for the outcome in easy to understand lingo. The office itself is beautiful and comforting. No white walls and stainless steel everywhere like a normal vet. There is also a separate extended waiting room for those families that choose to hang out during their pet's surgery or diagnoses. Another advantage of them being open 24/7 is that when your pet is released, you can call anytime with questions or concerns. I had a very good experience here and recommend it to anyone with a dog or cat. As always, emergency care is very expensive so I also recommend pet health insurance... it is a BIG life saver (quite literally). Check out their website for more info! read more

My golden retriever was having a series of grand mal seizures so we rushed him to this facility. The staff was cold and uncaring despite the fact that we were all in tears when they told us the worst possible scenario for our dog. He stayed at this facility for 3 nights which totaled over $3500. When I when to pick him up on day 2 they stated that if I couldn't get there before 4pm that they would automatically charge me for another night even if he didn't actually stay so the receptionist recommended that he stay the night as we would be charged for it anyways. The following day I arrived early at 8 and didn't even see my pet for over an hour. They charged my card for the full bill and I signed the bill. The lady came back in stating that they forgot to charge me for the medication that they wanted to send me home with and asked for my card again. I obliged and the medication totaled $50. I finally was allowed to leave and take my pet home. When I got home my dog was very weak and still exhausted which was expected. I didn't take him for any walks or to the dog park as he was very weak and unstable. He spent the entire time at my house. I noticed that after two weeks he was itching repeatedly and when I took a closer look he was infested with fleas. I want to state that we have never had a flea outbreak at my house and my pets get regular flea treatments. When I called this facility and told them of the issues my household was going through the doctor seem concerned and said his manager would call me the next day. The manager called me in the late afternoon and apologized for the issues we were having but that my pets could not have possibly gotten fleas from her facility. I explained that my dog was too weak to go anywhere and that this was the last place he visited before the flea infestation. She apologized again and said there was no possible way that he got them from her hospital. I demanded free flea treatments to correct the error that her dirty facility caused all 4 of my pets (1dog 3 indoor cats), she refused but offered me a free tour of this facility to show me how "clean" they are. I immediately refused stating that there was no possible way I would voluntarily enter this disgracefully disgusting facility. The way this situation was handled by management and staff alike was extremely disappointing and dissatisfying. I wouldn't take any of my animals back to this facility or refer anyone to come here for any reason. I called my regular vet and told them of the circumstances and they are now spreading the word to clients to avoid this facility. Take your pet elsewhere. read more

I judge an animal care clinic often by the experience I have with the front desk. The front desk staff here severely lack the compassion that should be extended whenever you are bringing your beloved pet in for care. I am giving this opinion not just based on one visit, but on multiple visits. This clinic has a cold and uncaring environment and I would not recommend taking your pet here for care. In addition, their costs for ER and neurology services are quite high. read more

We were referred to Animal Neurology and MRI Center after our dog had some suspicious 'episodes' that looked like seizures. Our oncologist referred us, and we were able to see a neurologist (Dr. Moore) that same day. He did a thorough, careful exam, and had clearly looked over our dog's medical history before speaking with us. He watched a phone video I'd made of one of our dog's episodes, and determined it probably wasn't a seizure, but that our pup has back pain. He got her off the awful medicine that was making her so drunk, gave us thorough care instructions, and followed up with us two weeks later. I couldn't be more happy with Dr. Moore's thoroughness, thoughtfulness, and attention to detail. The facility followed up with us to check on our pup, which I always find really nice for vets to do. With some vets, I feel like they're looking for things to support an initial suspicion, so things that aren't seizures, or cancer, are diagnosed as such regardless- this can incur a lot of unneeded expense. I'm so glad I listened to the technician who suggested I just get a consult and see what they said, maybe the MRI wouldn't be needed and it wasn't! Tears of relief. (I apparently wrote this a couple years ago and forgot to post, but Dr. Moore is still there and I suspect still great, so.. posting now!) read more

I cannot say enough good things about the staff (wonderful) and Dr. Adam Moeser!! My patterdale terrier, Brady had a terrible episode that seemed like a seizure or we didn't know if he fractured his back but it was a pretty awful experience for my husband and I. For anyone that thinks they are surgery "happy", I'm here to say they ARE NOT. Dr. Moeser examined Brady and we agreed to keep a close eye on him for right now, but we would work together. He gave me his email if I needed anything. Not once did he pressure us in to a MRI or surgery. I give this facility, staff and doctor's a TEN STAR rating!!! read more

While they came highly recommended, I did not have a great experience. I booked an appointment for my dog and went over in great detail her issues (partial cruciate tear) and arthritis. The person on the phone was polite but booked me with the neurologist which I did not know until I arrived at the appointment. The neurologist was very kind but busy and left a few times during our nearly 1.5 hour visit. I could tell he was perplexed why I was seeing him and not the ortho specialist. They did not charge me for the visit and made an appointment for my dog with the ortho specialist but since they were booked up the visit would not be for 6 weeks. During this time I found another rehab for my dog. I called to cancel my appointment and the person on the phone, again was very polite, told me that I did not have an appointment booked for that day or any other day. In the end, they booked my original appointment for me that was a complete waste of time (both mine and the neurologist) and then as I sat in front of them as they booked another appointment for me that never existed. I'm not sure what happened but I am unimpressed with the way the front desk handles business operations. I am glad to say I found another rehab that is amazing in every possible way! read more

They have taken extraordinary care of both our cats. Actually they saved the life of one of our cats twice. We use both the neurological division and the er division. The staff also is amazingly compassionate and they always keep their calm with stressed parents. They all deserve 10 stars. read more

We cannot say enough good things about this center. We came to them in a time of crisis with our 5 year old beagle. We were at a crossroad and had to face either putting him to sleep, or doing a surgery. During our initial appointment with Dr. Moeser, our neurologist, he was very matter of fact. In hind sight, we can understand why he couldn't be warm and fuzzy with us because he had no idea at that point how good or bad the prognosis would be. We elected to have surgery after the MRI results and we are so glad we did. Dr. Moeser and the staff saved our dog's life and gave us so much more quality time. The staff is highly professional and takes great pride in the work they do. We had several "scares" after the surgery which in the end were nothing, but Dr. Moeser was always available to see us and put our minds at ease. read more

My doberman Jackson was thought to have wobblers syndrome from my normal vet, we took him the Neurology center and given the news that yes it is true. We were given many options to help him along including surgery, medication, etc. We took him back a couple times for check ups and medication. They were very friendly and understanding to what we were going through. The prices we very reasonable for the services that they offer. read more

I cannot say enough nice things about these people. While we ended up having our dog put to sleep as her spinal cord was severely damaged, the staff was very kind and did all they could for our dog. We brought her in late Sunday night and were hopeful that she was suffering from shock and some movement would return in the morning. But it did not. The doctor explained the prognosis was poor and let us stay with her and say goodbye. They actually refunded a fair amount of money as the doctor did not do the additional testing quoted. read more

We took our dog here because he was having trouble walking. The neurologist examined him and told us several times that the best thing we could do for him was put him to sleep. Other than his walking issue, he was perfectly healthy! The neurologist felt once a dog is down, that's it, that there is no quality of life anymore. I totally disagree. There are many well-adjusted, happy dogs in carts! I believe it totally depends on the dog if they seem depressed or not whether they should be PTS once they become paralyzed. read more

Misdiagnosed my dog then performed a huge surgery that was not needed putting my pet threw pain to tell me my dog had a stomach flu then to top it off charged me full price which was over 2000 dollars then avoided me for 6 days to only tell me they would do it the same do not believe the technology hype there quacks that only care about money not the animals themselves save your money go to the humane society not even worth the one star read more

Our little Yorkie (Wee) came down with some kind of brain problem several years ago. She was only 2 years old. Her head was sideways and she was drooling. We took her to the MSU Vet Clinic and they recommended Dr. Wolf at Animal Neurology Center. He did x-rays on her head and never really figured out what was wrong... BUT he prescribed some medicine which she still takes today and it cured her. Wee is now almost 14 years old. Thank you so much, Dr. Wolf!!!!! read more

Place wants you to pay $2000+ to diagnose something that you can't diagnose. They saw my girl frantic about her cats condition and they were pressuring her using words like "don't you want what's best for your cat" - took the cat to a normal vet the very next morning only to find out that 1. It's either an infection or 2. It's a brain tumor - at the normal vet they pointed out clearly to try the antibiotics and if in 3-4 days you see no sign of improvement, it's more than likely a brain tumor that's incurable so an MRI would make NO SENSE...took the antibiotics and guess what...cats doing better already in less than 24 hours! Place wants to scare you into spending ridiculous amounts of money for NOTHING! Her normal vet also let her know that what they wanted to "diagnose" isn't even something you can with an MRI...needless to say they tried to rip her off of $2,000. They also told her you can only diagnose an ear infection with MRI. Completely untrue. Very awful experience. read more

We've received nothing but excellent care for both our dogs at Animal Neurology & MRI Center. In 2010, our then 9 year old GSD mix, Java, was in terrible pain and limping, but we were unsure if a long standing back problem or her bad knees were to blame. We originally visited MSU, but the vets there referred us to Dr. Wolf for her neurologic assessment and treatment. After a complete MRI showed a herniated disk, Dr. Wolf performed her back surgery (hemilaminectomy) and the rest of the team took such good care of her during her week long in-patient recovery, sending us pictures almost daily and reports on how she was progressing. Java also went back to Animal Neurology much later in 2010 for six weeks of physical therapy, including the underwater treadmill, for her bum knee. Jeri was wonderful to work with - such a professional with an upbeat personality - and we had great results from it! Last but not least, our 13 year old Chow mix, Zoe, suddenly started walking like she was drunk and falling over just two weeks ago. We didn't think to take her anywhere but straight to Dr. Wolf. She was diagnosed with idiopathic vestibular disease - a fairly common problem that is almost completely resolved already. We again received very professional and compassionate care for Zoe from Dr. Wolf and his staff. This is not a vet practice for run of the mill conditions, but when your pet has a neurolgic problem or needs PT, I would wholeheartedly recommend them. read more
