Great location. In and out in under an hour…read more Staff polite and friendly. Had the unfortunate but pleasure of seeing them twice in one day:(. One for my daughter earlier that morning to rule out anything serious and later that night (8pm)for me; a sinus infection that had gotten outta control. Thought it was tooth pain at first. It was so painful it could have warranted a ER visit. Thankfully the hours were great and the staff was still very much friendly. I think about how much time we saved and the care that was given compared than our primary or ER. Skills and attention to detail may need improvement. Daughter was prescribed an OTC Claritin for kids and Flonase for viral post nasal issues. I was prescribed just antibiotics. Stayed up all night in agony broke down and tried a OTC Flonase .It worked and The agony subsided. It dawned on me then why didn't they prescribe one for me as well? Perhaps it slipped their minds during the closing hour. A incredible thing happened during filling of scripts. We normally get filled at CVS, however their entire network went down and stayed down for half the day. Luckily my daughter was not effected during her visit but I was. The script simple could not be filled by them. Luckily the price chopper was next door and closes at 9pm ; staff knew this and had the script sent to price chopper instead of cvs avoiding any delays. Great service on both their parts .This is why I will be coming back.

I was a patient at first care for nearly 4 years and let me tell you it was four years too long…read more This is by far the WORST doctors office in the capital region. I was almost denied my medications by a nurse because THEY hadn't filled it in over four days, actually blackmailed to "calm down or I won't get my meds filled" treated like a crack head because I was on benzos and judged everytime a certain doctor saw me. Meds were rarely on time until the state law changed where I needed to be seen every month instead. The ONLY good thing about this retched place is Roxanne, she listened and understood every problem I had helped me immensely and actually cared. The day my grandfather died I had to cancel my monthly appointment and they STILL charged me 50$ for cancelling before 24 hours. Sorry I didn't tell him to die ahead of time Roberta! Do not go here save yourself the headache and heartache of this place. I'm happily at a new doctor. You will not be getting the 50$ I was charged nor will you ever get a good review from me. This place is disgusting. I made a report with the health department over the blackmail of my pills and I won't stop until everyone knows what kind of bull**** place this is! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

I've been a patient at First Care for several years. I've had varied levels of good and bad…read moreexperiences during my time as a patient. I think one of the most frustrating situations was when I tried to talked to the receptionist and tried to explain a situation that was new to me (and quite obviously new to her) and she hung up on me not only once, but TWICE, and would not answer the phone after that, when I needed help from their nursing dept. badly. Since then, I had one of the best experiences as a patient I think I've ever had. Her name is Roxanne, and (I think) she is a nurse practitioner there. ( Just aside, Dr. Fuhrman is a great guy, and has been kind enough to work with me and my disorder for which it's difficult to find a provider who will support my medication needs, but he still seems to have some doubts about my condition that I've been diagnosed with for 33 years.) Now back to Roxanne. Today I had to do a walk-in appointment. Yeah, I had to wait for a while b/c people do have appointments and as it should be, the people with scheduled appointments should come first. But Roxanne came in and listened to my situation, and was amazing at helping me figure out a plan that would help me and my employer meet my medical needs (without making me look like a hypochondriac, or like someone physically incapable of keeping my job of 18 years)! This woman is amazing. She is willing to do whatever it takes to support the people on her (most probably) immense caseload. She makes me feel comfortable and has established a therapeutic rapport that allows me to communicate my needs effectively, rather than just coming in with an illness I've tried to "ignore" in the past. If you go to First Care, look up Roxanne. Just don't do it too often, b/c she will become so popular that some other place far away will hire her that will pay her much more - a place where travel time and mileage $ would put a hurt on my budget (and maybe yours).

At 3.45pm, I was taken back by a nurse and asked the standard barrage of questions, then asked to wait for the doctor. NINTEY MINUTES LATER - a doctor shows up and look in my ear 'yup', she says in between chewing her gum, 'looks like a sinus infection. here's your antibiotics'. Seriously. Absolutely frustrated at the doctor or nurse practitioner or whatever she was. Apathetic attitude, slow communication and overall unprofessional approach to her patients. I do NOT recommend the PCP Urgent Care clinic. I had an awful experience there.

Well, I blame the fine salesman of the Cutco Knives we purchased which had DeAnna getting patched up twice in the first week of owning them. Prime Care isn't like seeing your doctor. I don't think we've seen the same person twice. But they are very convenient. More availability than my primary doctor, less expensive than an emergency room, and they have cable in the waiting room to pass the time while you're bleeding. They even have an x-ray on site so you don't have to get sent elsewhere. They do have their limitations, often staffed by nurse practitioners instead of doctors. You're not going to have Dr. House diagnosing your mysterious illness here, but you will get patched up with the common injuries and illnesses. They recognize their limitations too, and are very upfront about it and will direct your follow up with your regular doctor. The staff is always pleasant and comforting. I am pretty convinced they find me hilarious, even if they struggle not to laugh at my often inappropriately timed humor.

I know what makes good medical and support staff. It seems that people are really motivated to write negative reviews when they've had a bad experience (pain meds, anyone?), but less motivated when it's good, maybe because we're feeling better and we forget it. Although I've had a couple imperfect experiences, for the most part, I've been really happy with Albany Med. I have congenital health issues that have to be managed carefully, and for decades, I lived in NYC, where my doctors coordinated everything. (I have to admit, I was probably spoiled by them.) But at this point, after several years up here, I'm content to shift everything to Albany Med. I've been lucky enough to have caring, intelligent primaries and their teams, and the specialists I've seen have been kind and competent. One staff member in Pulmonology wasn't great, but that was probably more about personality and politics (come on, in this age, who doesn't believe that vaccines are worth the "risk"?!). But I've never seen them again, so I was satisfied with that result. (There must be a note in my chart somewhere never to assign me to *that* person. Ever.) I've seen specialists in pulmonology, immunology, gastroenterology, OBGYN, and of course, primary care. Each of the doctors listened to my concerns, carefully considered my extensive records, and helped me make good choices for my care. No healthcare organization is perfect. By accepting this and allowing them to try their best to support me and my spouse through all my health mess, we've had good results with Albany Med. When you're in pain or really sick, it's difficult to be patient and understanding, but if you can allow yourself to remember that the doctors, RNs, PAs, and NPs are trying to be on your side, it helps. Since COVID, all medical establishments have struggled to get enough staff. We've all struggled. So my advice is to decide you want to be on the same team as the meds, not their adversaries. I DO NOT mean don't contradict them or just accept everything blindly. You have to advocate for yourself and be honest about the problems you're having. And seriously, remember that they ARE trying to help. Work with them to make it happen. (Also, if you want to complain about the physical facilities, maybe you should vote for the kind of funding needed to build, maintain, and staff those facilities.)

They really need to rethink those makeshift "rooms" in the hallways of their emergency room. Having…read moreto lay outside a bathroom for nearly 24 hours was gross. How horrible when you're sick you have to smell someone's poop. LITERALLY! It was disgusting. Just no! Some of the nurses were so unprofessional, bitching and swearing about patients out in the open hallway for us to hear, ignoring cries from people that were hurting. I actually got up to check on someone because they were yelling they couldn't breathe and nobody responded despite being in ear shot. I am not a medical professional and could only offer to find someone for him. The nurse that finally came in was so rude to him that he actually said something to her "please stop being mean to me." Every time she went into his room I could hear her saying things I feel were inappropriate for someone supposedly caring. I was actually stunned at the goings on in this ER and am surprised they haven't been shut down. People deserve better. I understand being short handed and the job is stressful but there's no reason to be rude to the people that you're getting paid to help and care for. Lose the attitudes! Nobody wants to be there! The area where I was stuck was absolutely disgustingly dirty. Blood and puke chunks on the floor for hours. I mentioned the community smelly bathroom. Gross. The patient liaison in the lobby was the nicest and super helpful. There was also a male nurse who seemed to be one of the only ones to care and really strived to be helpful so I'm thankful to those two! The doctors are super scarce and they will get to you when they feel like it. Horrible.
