I've been…read morestudying the Enneagram through the Diamond Approach for 15 years and Rob added another depth of knowledge and understanding to what I already knew. He has great versatility in his ability to understand the nuances of each type, how each type interacts with their core fixation and how each type might be mistaken for another. He taught each of the enneatypes with respect to the 3 foundations of mindfulness - body, heart and mind - and how each of those mindfulness practices could be a source of support for us as we learn to loosen up our attachment to the egoic aspects of our enneatype. His teaching style is relaxed and relational and he never seemed rushed with any of our questions or observations but rather would take the time to explore them. I recommend keeping an eye out for the next time he offers the course.

It is founded and led by highly trained and compassionate people who, in my experience, encourage an individualized approach and welcome honest feedback. One trainer I especially appreciate is Stan Eisenstein. I have taken a number of courses from him and for over 2 years have attended a daily weekday Telesangha that I find extremely helpful. The latest course with him and co-leader Ruth Zanoni, who was also excellent, was a 17 week course on living with chronic pain and chronic illness using a Western Buddhist psychology framework and an experiential methodology with easily accessible homework. It is so helpful that I encourage all who live with chronic pain and/or illness to consider the course "Inviting Chronic Pain and Illness to Tea". My perspective comes from a 40 year career as a licensed master-level clinical social worker in private practice who has worked psychodynamically in her own practice and her own personal psychotherapy.

It is small, friendly, very well-equipped, with a real sense of community, thanks to the spirit, expertise, knowledge, and philosophy of co-owners Megan McCoy and Ken Yazge I've trained with Megan for several years, having followed her from the WSC to Fitness Generation. She has got to be one of the best trainers around. She's uniquely skilled--she's incredibly knowledgeable and professional; she up-to-date on the latest approaches and in working with clients to get stronger, and more fit and healthy. (She and Ken build their practice around a holistic approach to functional aging--the living of vital, active lives.) Megan always focuses on the client's needs. She prepares individualized routines, and she's both motivating and supportive while giving regular tips on position, stance, form, etc.... Megan's knowledge is amazingly broad. She can answer seemingly any question about physiology, musculature, exercise strategy--you name it. She is also fun to work with. She's upbeat, creative, and energizing, and endlessly fun to talk to. She gets my highest recommendation.

It was the first time I had met a hypnotherapist, so I did not know what to expect. I told her about my ongoing struggles of my life and then she told me about the whole process of hypnotherapy. I told her that my main problems were anxiety and depression. So, she put me into a deep sleep to help me explore the roots of my problems. For the past year, I have been going to her and she helped me greatly. It is thanks to her that my mind and health has gotten much better than before. I highly recommend her to anyone who needs help. Jessica is very nice and she will always do her best to help you overcome obstacles.

From the moment we connected via email, I had a good feeling about her. She responded promptly, and she even communicated with me via text message, which I found very personable and accessible. Her office is easy to locate and is located on a serene property surrounded by trees and nature. I found it calming before I even walked inside. Inside is a beautifully decorated office space, I would call it quite simple and zen. She gave me a little tour on my first visit. One of the many things I enjoy about my sessions with Jessica is that she takes the time to ask me questions about how I have been doing over the last couple of weeks. She is a wonderful listener and is always concerned about how I am feeling and what is going on in my life. She always remembers what we spoke about and remembers my loved ones' names, which I find very thoughtful and nice. After we catch up on life, she asks me what my main concern(s) are currently. I tell her what they are and then she proceeds to guide me through a meditative hypnosis wherein we focus on the topic or person of my choice. From the first session, I felt a weight lifted off my chest. Three sessions after that, I feel more empowered, confident, and peaceful. Meditation is something I have been learning and practicing for a few years. At times during meditation, one can feel vulnerable and fearful. I feel protected and safe when Jessica guides me through a meditation/hypnosis, and that is extremely important for it to be effective. Hypnosis was something I have never done before, but always wanted to try. I have learned in my personal studies that much of our inner healing takes place when we are silent and still. I find that silence to be very healing - even though it's hard sometimes to be still and silent for longer than 5 minutes for someone as restless as me. She guides me through a meditation that I helped create (my happy place is a beautiful beach). She has also guided me through other various hypnotic states. I have learned how to better meditate and visualize whatever results I want. I have also learned how to focus more on gratitude and less on fear-based thought patterns and behaviors. It's hard to describe how helpful meditation and hypnosis are - but I believe they're the best kind of therapy that exist. Jessica is one of the most kind hearted and also professional people I have ever worked with. She has given me tools that I can take with me and use any time in my life. She has a VERY calming presence and voice, and she fluctuates her tone during the hypnosis, which I find to be very pleasant and relaxing. It's safe to say that I recommend Jessica Lin to anyone who is ready to heal whatever is preventing them from living the life of their dreams. Thank you Jessica.

We visited on a rainy day, and many guests left their umbrellas and coats in the entry room where there were hangers available. Volunteers greeted us at the front and pointed us toward a stand of pamphlets. We were able to see the entire museum in about 30 minutes. At one point, the staff brought out a cart of organs for hands on interaction. Based on some of the flyers, they also host additional demonstrations once a month. There was a modest anatomical collection with a focus on the nervous system and bones. I found the displays of brains after injuries and strokes especially interesting. There were also several examples of bone infections and exhibits highlighting medical developments over time. I appreciated the historical context behind each advancement, particularly how it connected to warfare. One of the most striking sections for me was the wall of organs affected by different diseases and infections. It felt especially rare compared to what I have seen in other museums. I was also fascinated by the less common presentations of parasites, which are not typically featured elsewhere. There was also a room dedicated to surgical advancements, and I found myself quiet while looking at the stories of soldiers who sustained injuries and underwent reconstruction. There was no gift shop and it seemed like a quick stop for most visitors. There was an upcoming veterinary focused day that looked interesting and would be worth checking out if I were still in the area. Overall, the museum is not as elaborate as others, but I still enjoyed the visit while staying nearby.

Opened in 1862 during the Civil War, the museum preserves over 25 million objects about medicine, public health, and anatomy. Nowhere else can you see skull fragments of Abraham Lincoln, President Garfield's vertebrae, and President Grant's tumor slides. The museum is open Wednesday-Sunday from 10am-5:30pm with free admission and parking in Silver Spring, Maryland. Walk inside and find all the exhibits on the main floor in a brutalist building. One exhibit talks about public health and the others focus on history of military medicine and anatomy. Here, you'll find lots of bones and organs preserved in medical jars. If you have a weak stomach, be warned. Eat BEFORE visiting. The museum is well kept with clean restrooms and lots of space to enjoy the museum. I highly recommend it for adults and older kids with an interest in the medical field.
