First, I can say that Dr. Scott Mclaughlin did give me what I needed - the mm license for my…read morechronic pain. That's all that went right. He was an hour late in seeing me. Then, Dr Mclaughlin was the biggest jerk of a doctor I've ever met, and that is saying something considering how many doctors I've seen for my chronic back pain in the last 10 years. He interrupted me every time I tried to ask questions and went on a 15-minute rant about the evils of narcotics. I already knew narcotics were a problem or I wouldnt' have been there. Unfortunately for the smug doctor, he showed he know very little about the extended-release drugs he was discussing by mistating facts I knew from having taken the drugs, and facts anyone could find out on Google in 5 minutes. Not much of an expert. There are plenty of mm docs around -- find a different one.

The wait wasn't too bad considering it was for an mmj referral - only about an hour - and the waiting room was nice and the receptionist friendly. However, when I met with Dr. McLaughlin, he said he wanted to take a total-wellness approach. Fine, sounds good. Except, "total wellness" in this case meant him focusing on how I'm a tad overweight, and misquoting studies to passive-aggressively suggest that all my problems would be solved if I just exercised more. If my weight had anything to do at all with my endometriosis - the reason for the mmj referral - then I could see that (maybe). But my endometriosis is the same if I'm underweight than if I'm overweight. So it felt more like an opportunity for him to espouse his own agenda than anything else. However, I did walk out with the referral I needed, so it definitely could have been worse. I guess my point is, for $150, you could probably do better, but you could also do a lot worse.

Happy Holos patient for 9 years until today. The website has an error in the booking page (the same…read moreerror happened last year) and instead of just calling to help me, I received a text message trying to walk me through their website onboarding. When I asked to just get a call and do it by phone, the person LAUREN insisted on texting because 'office hours are M-Th' ... ... ... So she was happy to help by impersonal text but not by being a real human on the phone with a real human. And I'm crazy for finding this absurd? So instead I called their main competitor Clarity and got an answer right away, got an appt made by phone with no trouble, and their service is a full $75 less than Holos. Oh and they didn't threaten to take my money if I had to cancel. All around a huge improvement from my experiences at Holos and I wish I'd shopped around years ago. Dr. Cohen seems like a good guy and this shouldn't reflect on him personally but he should reevaluate his front office and how they interact with patients. I'm going elsewhere this year.

Everyone at Holos Health is super nice/knowledgeable, and the office is gorgeous! Although considered "alternative," it easily rivals just about any conventional health clinic. For example, Holos Health is home of the state-of-the-art InBody 770, which is the highest-end body composition analyzer in existence (aside from underwater weighing or DEXA). What's more, it is in a private room, so you can remove all clothing to get the most accurate reading. There are a couple of negative Google reviews from patients who have PTSD. As someone who also has experienced PTSD, I feel the staff is extremely empathic and accommodating. Altogether, Holos Health sets the bar very high in terms of being both comprehensive *and* friendly.

But I did make it there. The gentleman at the front was very pleasant and put me at ease immediately. He was chatty and laughing. Seems like a good guy. He should work for a better place. I filled out my forms and the doctor came out and took me back to her office. She didn't introduce herself or shake my hand or act good natured in a any manner. I sat down in her office and she asked my what my qualifying medical condition was. Not being extremely versed in medical marijuana law, I just began to tell her what my medical conditions were, figuring she would know which ones qualify. This is for a renewal, so obviously one of them qualifies, but I was unsure which one. I got all of maybe three words out before she snapped, "No, No, No." I tried to continue my sentence, but she cut me off again to chastise me for... not giving the right answer, I guess. And let it be known that what I first mentioned, just barely, for her cutting me off is that I have severe anxiety connected to my Bipolar Disorder. And when I said that and she started snapping at me, my eyes welled up. You know, because I have severe anxiety connected to my Bipolar Disorder. And she said the most unhelpful words in the history of words, "Don't cry." There wasn't quite an exclamation point on that but it was definitely not friendly and comforting. And never in all of time and space has anyone heard the words, "Don't cry," and perked up and said, "Okay, Thanks. I won't. Good advice." When I decided to live my life and be part of society, I knew my anxiety would give me trouble, so I gave myself permission to leave places and situations that upset me. And that's what I did. Okay, I didn't leave so much as run away. If she's snarking, "Don't cry" at me when my eyes welled up, who knew how she would react if I actually did cry and I was about to, so I ran away. I suggest you do the same. Run away. Don't go anywhere near this place. This is the type of doctor that is the reason so many people won't go see them.
