I was completely appalled by the filth! The walls, floors, and baseboards were dirty. There was dirt and grime build-up on the bed wheels and around the wall plugs. There was first aid tape stuck to the bed and an empty medical package left from the previous patient. When the nurse came in to apply the numbing gel to his chin, he did not even clean the wound first. An hour later, the doctor finally came in to apply the stitch. She immediately got the thread ready to stitch up his chin when I asked her if the gel cleansed the wound as well. She left the room and came back with some type of liguid to irritate the chin before she stitched it up. She did not even cover the top of his shirt, so while she was stitching up his chin, the thread was exposed to germs. Definitely not concerned with sanitation, germs, or infection. We were finally released at 2:45 a.m. I am completely disgusted by this place

This has become a money machine, with low income and underinsured people denied care until they satisfy a bill collector. If CHI wants to be for-profit, it should stop taking tax-exemption for serving community benefit. This is anything but a mission driven health system, and while calls to Catholic Health Initiatives in Colorado can be helpful in getting the CEO and senior staff's attention, the culture just does not change. Far, far cry from the compassionate care of a faith-based system. The area and people deserve much, much better. And I say this not as an uninsured patient, but rather an extremely well insured patient. The way they treat the people in the clinic and ER who are un or underinsured or owe bills for past care is truly humiliating and disgusting to witness. Some doctors, some nurses are wonderful, but the stench is from the top down. Just third world health care.
