Their operators are quite rude and condescending. If you accidentally set off your alarm by opening…read morea door, they will call you in the first 30 seconds. Of course you cannot hear your phone because the alarm is going off. If you haven't answered in 30 seconds, they have already dispatched the police. Once it shows that the user disarms the alarm within the first two minutes, they don't call back to see if all is well and to cancel the police. I had this situation happen. I accidentally set off the alarm and I immediately called and explain that I set the alarm off accidentally and give them the code. They assured me that they had canceled any dispatch. They didn't bother to call the police to cancel it and the police showed up at my house saying that the alarm company had dispatched them. When there are false alarms that involve police dispatch you can be fined. I called and confronted one of the dispatchers and she said that it wasn't their responsibility to cancel a dispatch even if the homeowner turns off the alarm right away. I am going to immediate cancel my monitoring and find a service that has the intelligence to reach out if an alarm is canceled by the homeowner within a matter of two to three minutes to see if all is well before dispatching the police.

After over a year of frustration with how our setup ended up working due to the changes I made (not due to anything on their end), I recently decided to see if they could come back out and re-do some of it which would require dropping new cables down a wall. The work was very easy to schedule with their AV division. The crew who came out were very friendly and professional and took time to listen to what I was requesting to make our AV system work exactly like we want it to. Most importantly, they didn't try to up-sell me on anything. They did exactly what I was asking of them, and everything works perfectly now in the way that we wanted. I only wish I had called them out a long time ago. I would highly recommend them to help with any AV needs. They're not the cheapest option, but with most things in life you get what you pay for. They also pre-wired our security and home networking systems, and that's all been working perfectly.

I recently moved in to a new (to me) home and wanted to find a company to help me with my…read moretechnology goals. I had previously taken a DIY approach to my A/V and security systems, but wanted to make my new place fully integrated from a technology standpoint. I started researching companies and got quotes from several before making my final decision. I found Kelltech Systems by searching the internet, looking for a Control4 dealer in the Dallas areas. They were Platinum rated by Control4 and had good reviews online, so I gave them a call. Kyle is the lead sales person there and he came out to my home to meet with me in person to talk through what I wanted to accomplish. We discussed options for putting music throughout the home (my home happened to be pre-wired for speakers, but none were installed), surveillance cameras so we could see the perimeter of the house, an alarm system with remote control from an app (alarm.com), and some light home automation including lighting control for some key lights, automated shades for my master bedroom, and thermostat integration. Kyle answered all of my questions on these topics and educated me on some ideas I wasn't aware of (like having the alarm sensors trigger lights to come on when I come home). He sent me a detailed, written proposal a few days later, and made the changes I needed to the proposal so that I could move forward. The install crew that came out was prepared for the work, knew exactly what was to be done, and carried out the work quickly and professionally. They trained me on the system so that I felt comfortable using the features and they left my home very clean, despite having cut in new speakers into the ceiling (a messy job). All that to say, if you're looking for a competent, professional, and friendly company for your A/V and security systems, Kelltech is a great resource. I will say they weren't the cheapest bid I received, but I felt like they understood what I was wanting to accomplish and weren't trying to low-ball me with their proposal. Good work Kelltech!

I was in the market for my 3rd or 4th security system switch up, and decided to go with Aegis, as…read moreI've seen many of my neighbors and several friends have used them. I had a pretty large and difficult Elk system, which was previously Honeywell, that I needed completely removed and replaced with a specific system I had done my research on. From the start Aegis was very helpful and open to whatever type and brand of system I wanted to install. The job was a long one.. they had to start with figuring out what wires were for what zones, because nothing was labeled. I live in a 100 year old home, and that is always an added joy to deal with when it comes to crawling beneath, or getting thru plaster walls and ceilings, but the Aegis guys never complained. They came back day after day, week after week until the new system was up and running! They had to remove the old panel, label each wire for all of my 75(ish) zones, move the location of the new panel, test signal strengths(since my plaster walls can be an issue at times), and add repeaters where necessary. They even came back after all was said and done to make sure every zone was labeled to my liking, and to make sure they had not missed anything! Although the job was probably more effort than the cost, they still did the whole thing with never even telling me something couldn't be done, or I'd be charged extra. I def. Would recommend Aegis Systems to anybody In the Dallas area looking for a great Security company! Update: Have been waiting for weeks to have the security panel moved over 1-2ft for an extension project currently underway on my home. Come to find they didn't show today because they decided to hold appt hostage, for $1100 that was due. This additional balance was for several service calls, that I wanted to make sure were warranted since they were calls to finish, or fix things that weren't completed with the system install. Didn't think it was fair to charge me for several "service calls" when it was trips to get the system up and running smoothly. Thought the 18k I had spent already warranted a complete system with no low battery alarms for several glass breaks setting the alarm off continually at 2am... waiting for the owner to call me to see how we remedy this issue.

I initially contracted with Defcon One security when I first purchased my home. At the time of…read moreinstallation, John said he was working on getting fire/smoke detection, so I chose to stay with the company on the promise of that and the fact that the previous owner had the security company installed. Fast-forward to today and I don't think the company offers smoke or carbon monoxide detection (or if it's available, I was never given notice to add it to my system or upgrade, etc.). My second issue is the contract itself. Signing a standard 3 year contract is fair and standard. Automatically renewing a contract annually without express permission or written notice is not--and upon terminating my service, I was told I was still under contract. The lack of transparency and notice on this issue was galling, to say the least, and I'm leaving Defcon One as a very unhappy customer. Thirdly, you can notice the hours here on Yelp. If your system malfunctions (which happened, creating a full-on intrusion noise that any code entered into the panel wouldn't shut off) and you have that issue, it's not guaranteed that service comes out and, if so, not necessarily in a quick manner. Lastly, my system malfunctioned again this week as a result of a faulty breaker (which was not apparent). Trying to get someone to come out and take a look (again, as the system was making all sorts of disruptive noise) was difficult as no one was answering the phones and it went straight to voicemail. The only reason this isn't a one-star review is that when visits were made, John was courteous and professional. For the same amount of money, you can have service with a nationally-recognized company complete with 24/7 call center service, fire/smoke/carbon monoxide detection, and a contract that goes month-to-month after the initial 3 year contract. All in all, I would not recommend Defcon One Security.
