In and out in less than 5 minutes. Our apartment was flooded and the water reached our modem and mediacom replaced the modem free of charge and even gave us an extra Ethernet cable just in case. I've been using Mediacom for 13 years now and have had nothing but bad experiences. I would switch if we had any other option but the only other provider in our area is DSL only, no Broadband. Although at this point it is looking like a better option. When the internet works it isn't that bad, but the frequency of it going down is high. Having a week without problems is a miracle. I am paying for 100Mb Download speeds and can't even stream a 720p video without getting buffering most of the time after 4pm. It took me 3 minutes just to get this page to load properly. it is a problem to this day and they have no clue what causes it. As for the TV, we use to get a choppy signal after 8pm and intermittent signal lose for minutes at a time 4 or 5 times an hour. After 12am it would just go out completely until 4 am most nights. It took 2 weeks to get a technician out to have a look and see what the problem was. When he got here he tested the signal strength to the house and it was really low, somewhere around -70 dBm and decided that he would just cut the cable lines in my basement that they setup to my bedroom, the kitchen, and the basement TV. Leaving only the cable modem and living room tv hooked up. However he didn't disconnect any of them, he just straight up cut the lines and left them which made it all pointless. If you don't remove the extra lines (the splitters) then they still split the signal, it doesn't matter if you cut them they still get used. I had to do it myself, although It obviously didn't fix the problem and it took another week to get someone else in to look at it and he was baffled at why it was happening. It was obvious the issue was on their end somewhere and not my house since the signal strength to the house itself was bad but they didn't understand that. Two months later we got hit by a Tornado and it destroyed most of their infrastructure in the area (along with 1/4th of the town sadly). But after they replaced everything the signal quality and strength are now perfectly fine. Guess I should have called a Tornado instead of Mediacom, it did a better job at finding the problem then they ever have. We still have the usual outages once or twice a week (like right now, its been out for 6 hours), but that is because of their halfassed way of doing things which will never change. Long story short, if you have ANY other option for these services I would suggest you use them. Mediacom is overpriced, underwhelming, a massive headache to deal with, and they probably spend more money on making them appear like they are a good company then they do on actually being a good company. read more

I told the man, the service tech can call first but the phone is out of service. "Well that's going to be a problem. I have been a customer for about 10 years and love them. Keep doing great work!. The CSR's are always helpful and polite. Granted there are sometimes just one or two of them and they will give each customer the time and attention needed. Even over the phone. They cant help that people are impatient But they will give you the knowledge needed and help desired. read more

** Warning - long review ** Sales rep came to my house selling Mediacom packages. I was not interested at all but since the internet was faster for the gamers in the house we decided to move to Mediacom. Plus the sales rep said my bill would be about 20$ cheaper. I had several questions including customer service questions and how good are they to my house isnt wired since we have all wireless. The sales rep assured me that HE was the customer service rep and anything I need, I could call him and he would handle anything and even threw in that in November he would add the sports package for 3 months for free, and as far as the wiring goes, the contractor would wire the house, not a problem and free installation. Tuesday comes for installation and the 3rd party contractor cuts all my wires for the previous provider at the box and hooks up Mediacom, walks into the house and decides that hes not wiring my house unless we pay about 600$ and the wires would run thru my kitchen and throughtout the house? After a call to the sales rep who said FREE installation, he states that yes it would be the fee that the 3rd party contractor gave us. He was told to cancel the order, we would keep our previous provider. The 3rd party contractor tells us that he would leave the wires and we could do it ourselves, and then he leaves. Fast forward to 6pm, returning from work, no TV or internet. I call the sales rep and ask whats the deal, he said I needed to call my previous provider to come hook up our cable again. Um NO, your contractor is the one who hooked up Mediacom and left it here after we cancelled the order. I call Mediacom to see what we need to do and the rep tells me, they cant do anything since I dont have an account with Mediacom and then tells me that they dont even have a hook up date for me until July 11 so he doesnt even know why Im calling. Of course the Sales rep doesnt want to answer his phone anymore, so I ask to speak to a supervisor....10 min wait. She tells me again that there is no connect date or account number for me and she cant do anything for me that I need to call my previous provider to come hook our cable/internet back up. I assured her that i had an account number and a hookup date that I verified with her via the form I signed with the sales rep. By this point I was livid. I called the contractor who came and unhooked my cable who wouldnt answer the phone. The supervisor whom I was on the other phone tried several attempts to call the Sales rep, contractor and the contractor supervisor to no avail. She promised me that by July 11, they would send a tech out and hook up my cable. About an hour later, I get a text from the sales rep who said a supervisor would be at my house the next day July 4th to hook my cable back up. This did happen but I would not recommend Mediacom period. They are full of mess and gives nothing but the run around. The sales rep was all about answering any questions and answering his phone until there was a problem. Never again. Definitely no stars. read more

Worst Internet company. I have Mediacom, Cox Communications, and WOW throughout the area for my home and businesses internet. The area determines who we can use. Not only is Mediacom have the most outages they are also the most expensive with the slowest speed! Our internet has been down at our house from June 16th and then "soonest" they can get a technician was out Wednesday June 22 and it's now June 24th with no show. This is due to a faulty modem they just installed two weeks ago and we had to wait on them for days to show up then! Now one of my businesses has had their internet down for 2 hours this morning and they said they have roughly 1,000 accounts in our area offline and it will take roughly 3 hours which means all day. Worst company! Also tech support can't speed English! read more

Everything about Mediacom is terrible. I had problems all the time with my cable box, internet, and the signal to my house. When you call you have to sit on hold for at least 15 minutes just to talk to someone with poor knowledge of your issue. read more

I thought AT&T was bad until I got mediacom. I've only had it for just over 1 month and I have had so many nights where internet isn't working and/or TV. Customer service is awful as they don't follow through with returning calls. Anyway, thank God it's "no contract" so I can cancel-the only perk. Tonight im missing my favorite show. Call center is manned by total idiots. When you call, and I call a lot, they have you go through the same drill each time then they schedule a tech to come to your house. I spend way too much time on the phone trying to get my internet, tv and phone to work properly. Would never recommend Mediacom to anyone. read more

Just had cable and internet service installed 4 days ago (Wednesday). Internet is working fine; however, I'm having a lot of problems with the cable TV...some of the channels that I should have, which are included in the Local Plus or Family TV packages, are missing and I get a couple of different error messages - either no signal, or it says I don't have a subscription to that channel (which I definitely do). Some of the channels that I can get have a terrible signal -- pixelated lines constantly jumping across the screen. And their customer service is awful...called them Friday night to report the problems, went through all the troubleshooting efforts they put you through (which I had already done myself on Thursday night) and they tell me everything looks fine to them but they would have someone else from customer service call me within 24 hours. Well, they never called. So I called again this morning (Sunday) and told them I want a tech to come out to fix it, and they tell me the next available tech won't be available until Thursday morning between 8am and noon. I told them I work during the week and I already had to take vacation time to get off work to have the install done and I can't take off work on Thursday...Mediacom advertises that they have nights and weekend appointments so I asked about an evening appointment. They told me they don't do evening appointments but they could come out Saturday...so now I have to wait another week to try to get the problems fixed and spend my Saturday waiting on them. Wishing now I hadn't switched from DirecTV to Mediacom. read more

Worst Internet I have ever experienced. I bought what I was told was premium service offering 20 to 30 Mbps downspeeds, but only get close to 10. I was adamant that I did not want a slow internet connection, yet here I am paying top dollar for what is equal to their basic service. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! This is probably the worst company I've ever dealt with. simply because of there billing mistakes( time and time again charging too much) I kept repeatedly having to go to there local Milton office to correct the problem. I finally decided to turn in my converter boxes and when my contract expired in 4 days to disconnect my service. They said they would, then prorate my bill . ( SINCE MY CONTRACT EXPIRED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BILLING CYCLE) Well . . . they sent me a bill for 124.00 and said this is for ending your contract early. Needless to say, they were mad with me about disconnecting the service. I told them later that I would pay the prorated bill, 50 or 60 dollars but no more. They hooked up cable to my two TVs and apparently did not have a ground properly and now I have two TVs that no longer work and they say it's not their fault, none of my surge protectors were popped everything else is hooked to the surge protectors is OK The only things burnt up is everything there cable touches. After only a month of brand new Internet-only service with MediaCON, the only provider in my new location after a move, out of the clear blue, (no change whatsoever to our wires, weather, etc.) we lost our internet service. I cooperated with both the automated reboot and then repeated it with a live technician, to no good outcome. The necessary repair visit could not be scheduled for almost a week later! and involved several re-schedules and a series of bizarre auto-confirmation calls, the last of which advised me that if I failed to answer yet ANOTHER call from the technician on the repair day itself, I would be REscheduled!! Any number of things might prevent me from answering the phone at that minute and I have confirmed my appointment no less than three previous times, both with a live representative and two auto-calls, so this final confirmation is pure crap, seemingly designed to trip you up and cost you your LONG awaited repair. Prior to subscribing with MediaCON, I was a perfectly happy Cox customer for nearly a decade. How quickly I missed their territory. Choose another provider if it is possible for you. read more
