Amazing bookstore in the busy central area of Lund…read more We stopped here on our tour of Sweden and had about 2 hours in Lund and I got to walk around a bit and when I saw this bookstore, I couldn't resist and went in. Most of the books are in Swedish, but there is a good English section and enjoyed browsing their titles. Lovely bookstore that kept me busy and warm as we toured around Sweden!

Don't fret if nothing in the arrays of magazine offers in Pressbyrån tempts you. Here's the place you should go. I must admit that I'm also a book person more than magazine person. Reason is simple, magazines are throwaways, books are keepers, and this is why I love to frequent this shop, even just checking their new English book stocks on the far corner of the shop. Service is pleasant and friendly but obviously the stocks aren't much since this is just a tiny shop, especially the English section, but they do have quite a lot of selection of Swedish-translated books. Okay, that was an exaggeration - but my sentiment was probably similar. Clas Ohlson is a convenient hardware store that doesn't make you feel lost like I do every time I go to Silvan. It's not the place where you would led astray to get more small things that you probably don't need like Ikea. It's something in between. You can get the kind of screwdrivers or electric saw you want and buy and at the same time you can get a cake mould or buy oh-so-pink toaster and kitchen utensils. That kind of place. Suitcases or other travel necessity, batteries, even the now-extinct pack of CD-RWR, light bulbs, screwdrivers - like I have said, a set of hammers perhaps to go with your electric toothbrush? ...and the prices are super affordable. It's still a sad sad day to know that Clas Ohlson shops are probably in every corner of Norway and Sweden but that will never happen in Denmark. At least I know there's one across the Øresund not far from where I live

From the outside I thought it might be a quaint little store, but the inside surprised me! I could have easily bought myself poor in here!

I am a huge fan of this shop…read more The concept is similar to Clas Ohlson anywhere, but this shop in Triangeln is slightly smaller than the one in Emporia, obviously because the lack of space. You could find pretty much anything at this shop, from baking form to bicycle lights - from ice cream machine to electric saw. Fantastic, isn't it? One stop shop for pretty much everything. The service was friendly as always. There was actually a shop attendant on the entrance greeting everyone with "heisann.... do you need anything?" Fantastic. For someone like me who got lost in home improvement tools jungle, I could always use a help!

It's coop, it's extra!…read more It's bigger on the inside! No, I kid you not - it's true. I was skeptical when I first went to this supermarket since it looks so shabby and without hardly any windows on the outside, but once you get in, you realise that it's one of those big supermarkets that are pretty much sell everything that you need. Vegetables, organic vegetables (ekologiska, obviously), fish, tons of fish, cheese, butter, meat, gluten free and lactose free products (since we're talking about Sweden) and other household stuff. They have also aisles for imported products - I saw a lot of obscure products in Slavic languages, Reeses peanut butter chocolates and Guiness chips and some fancy microwave popcorn. They have also pretty decent aisle full of Asian stuff, including bambooshoots in cans - that pretty much exist only in Asian shops in Copenhagen. They have good brand of coconut milk (not just the weird Santa Maria or whatever it is called now), rice noodles, egg noodles and pakchoy on the vegetable rack. Ah Sweden, you're the best when it comes to supermarket. Danish ones can't really beat it, not even big warehouse-like one like Bilka. The location is pretty convenient as well, just across Värnhem, sort of smaller bus station where you do your switches if you are not lucky enough to ride buses without change from/to home/work. This has quickly become my supermarket-to-go during my stay in Malmö.

Next to the latter is a whole refrigerated case of Astrid och aporna products as well as a variety of vegan cheeses and spreads. Really impressive selection all around. I am also surprised by how much stuff they have for pets. Of course with all Swedish supermarkets, the alcohol department is lacking. The price is in line with ICA, maybe some things are a little more expensive, but Coop seems to have more variety.

Since…read moreTrelleborg has a nice walking street just in front of this shop, we used to come here for our daily groceries. It's an ICA. That means it's a chain, but a fairly good one. Fresh products, nice selection of fruit and veggies as well as meat (at least in the bigger stores). Prices are fair and the staff is friendly. Definitely a good place to stock up on your groceries. There's a parking right next to or you could look for a (free) spot along the street or on the big parking lot on the corner of Nygatan and Olivia Nordgrens Gata.
