I actually wrote to Clas Ohlson once asking if there would ever be a plan to open a shop in Denmark.
Nope.
That was the short answer and I wailed uncontrollably. Okay, that was an exaggeration - but my sentiment was probably similar. Clas Ohlson is a convenient hardware store that doesn't make you feel lost like I do every time I go to Silvan. It's not the place where you would led astray to get more small things that you probably don't need like Ikea.
It's something in between. You can get the kind of screwdrivers or electric saw you want and buy and at the same time you can get a cake mould or buy oh-so-pink toaster and kitchen utensils. That kind of place.
Suitcases or other travel necessity, batteries, even the now-extinct pack of CD-RWR, light bulbs, screwdrivers - like I have said, a set of hammers perhaps to go with your electric toothbrush?
...and the prices are super affordable.
It's still a sad sad day to know that Clas Ohlson shops are probably in every corner of Norway and Sweden but that will never happen in Denmark.
