Took us a while to find the right spot but once we did, our 4 year old daughter was super excited to be coming to Media City Dance every week. Miss Natasha and her instructors are warm, caring and extremely professional. We also had our daughter's 5th birthday party that Miss Natasha so kindly helped us arrange in the main studio. About 20 of our daughter's friends attended. Miss Natasha brought in one of her senior ballerinas to hold a class for the girls. The ballerina also performed a piece from the Nutcracker. Both my daughter and nieces have attended this studio. It's well known for the area. They have all types of classes. The staff is a hit and miss. I had one instructor who was really snotty and rude to me when I was first looking at the studio. I had commented to my daughter, not her, that the rooms are on the small side and the instructor felt compelled to side bust my conversation and inform us that they are a top notch dance studio and that their dance company performs the Nutcracker Ballet every year for a large playing crowd. ......well, needless to say that still didn't address the comment I made about the size of the dance rooms. This was several years back. We did end up signing our daughter up for classes there. Our daughter did perform in several productions. As has both my nieces. The Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid and The Matchstick Girl were all lovely. The sets are nice and money does go into the overall appearance of the production. However, with that comes pretty expensive tickets. This has always been a pet peeve of mine. I know there are costs involved but we also pay a lot for lessons throughout the year and having to dish out $40 and up per person to see our child perform seems a bit much. Perhaps a half off discount for 2 parents would be nice. I mean they got you. You're going to go.. but it's an expensive night out after costumes, flowers, tickets, parking, dinner and of course the after show celebration at usually, Coral Cafe. We just went to see one of Media City's companies (Pacific Dance) perform Carmen And Don Quixote at the El Portal theater in NoHo. I was a bit disappointed in a few things. (which seem to be reoccuring problems no matter who or where they're performing) 1. dancers are always dropping props or parts of their costumes. 2. The sound is not professional and cut's in and out and lighting always seems to have trouble. 3. this particular show, there were 3 women behind us that appeared to be intoxicated and talked and screamed so loud during the whole show. Really with All The money we are being charged they should have someone monitoring for things like this. 4. One of the instructors is behind the times. Seems she enjoys the racey sex moves of the 80"s and props referring to alcohol and smoking. (i get some things are written with things like this, but children are watching and I believe instructors have artistic freedom to make things a little more age appropriate for viewers). Not to mention again, the props get dropped anyways. Ugh. At the studio in Burbank... Parking is not easy. There is a free Parking structure but it fills up fast. Street Parking is difficult. But Burbank does have many free parking structures. It's just a short walk. Recently I ran in for my niece and asked for her by name and The girl at The desk said she wasnt there. And she was. Way to keep track of The minors. :/ And as for the classes.. They seem to know there stuff. All levels for all ages. Lots of fun. Great exercise. You're never too young or too old. Get up and dance. Definitely worth checking out. read more

My 9 year old daughter, Ele, briefly took Ballet & Jazz and learned more proper ballet technique in 3 months than she did at her previous dance studio. We love the acro and jazz classes at Media City Dance. Ms. Krystle and Ms. Nicole are wonderful coaches- they are excellent instructors- but MORE IMPORTANTLY they are also kind and caring friends and mentors to EACH person in their classes. They adeptly work with each person at their own level. I appreciate this so much! It is really beautiful to witness. My daughter has grown so much in her skills, but she has ALSO grown as a person due to their genuine caring and the supportive atmosphere that they have created. Ms. Natasha is a horrible instructor, she does not work well with younger kids. She isn't patient with the children and made my daughter cry. She is rude and mean. Also, she was insulting and would talk over me when ever I had something to say. My daughter has other activities and danced with Ms. Ellen, never had any problems. I pulled both of my daughters out since it's such a toxic environment for them. I will never recommend this place to anyone. read more

My 3 y/o has been going for about 6 weeks now. They have struggled to have a consistent teacher. The Teacher's Assistant who filled in for a few weeks wasn't the best working with young children. The actual teachers that have stepped in some classes have been great. I appreciate them working with the young children as children and teaching them proper ballet form. My daughter has danced at various studios for 10 years, and after finding Media City Dance three years ago, she finally feels like she has found her Dance Home: demanding-but-caring teachers who push her to excel, a warm, family-feeling environment, and a focus on classical Russian ballet technique. Now, she won't dance anywhere else. She takes 10-12 classes per week (ballet, pointe, modern and jazz) but has no intention of being a professional dancer. She just loves to dance, and she is grateful for a serious studio that invests in her development at the advanced level, even though she is not pursuing a dance career. The Nitty-Gritty for Dancers: Russian technique, not a competition-studio environment. Your dancer will not be learning "tricks" until real technique is mastered. My daughter had a sickled foot and began dancing at this studio at age three. She's 14 now with no sickle, great carriage, confidence and flexibility. She's now dancing en pointe with very strong feet, ankles and arches and spends about 10+ hours a week at the studio. It's her second home. Natasha Middleton takes the time to work with each individual dancer, male and female, to give them the classes and help that they need to develop into the best dancer they can be. Natasha comes from a talented family. Her dad was a premier danseur, her mom an opera singer. Natasha herself was a principal before a traumatic injury, so she understands individual needs for therapy or different dance styles like tap, jazz, contemporary, and hip-hop. There is also excellent acrobatics teacher and fun character dance classes. She makes sure she's got great teachers for all of it. She even has classes for us older folks, too! Miss Natasha has been a wonderful teacher and mentor for them thru the years taking them from the basics and getting them both en pointe. They have acquired excellent technique in Classical Russian ballet. Mr. Tonoyan is a master teacher from whom the dancers gain so much technical training and discipline as well as flexibility. Both girls also took the gymnastics for several years with Miss Krystal, who is the most loving and supportive teacher you could want for tumbling and acrobatics. One daughter also takes tap and jazz. She learned amazing tap skills within a year in the classes she took with Chris Trousdale. It is also great for them to see and perform with real working dancers in the studio and at performances. Tuition is reasonable and paid monthly. The studio is very flexible about making up missed classes within the month. Parking is easy. Starbucks is on the corner and the mall is a block away. read more
