Close to home and they offer a variety of Dance Classes. I go through learnsalsa.com for Bacahata & Salsa lessons and this is one of the studios they use. Good people, good times. Getting out of my comfort zone and learning to dance. 4 hour boot camps are good exercise and you can flirt a little too!

Both my daughter and nieces have attended this studio. It's well known for the area. They have all types of classes. The staff is a hit and miss. I had one instructor who was really snotty and rude to me when I was first looking at the studio. I had commented to my daughter, not her, that the rooms are on the small side and the instructor felt compelled to side bust my conversation and inform us that they are a top notch dance studio and that their dance company performs the Nutcracker Ballet every year for a large playing crowd. ......well, needless to say that still didn't address the comment I made about the size of the dance rooms. This was several years back. We did end up signing our daughter up for classes there. Our daughter did perform in several productions. As has both my nieces. The Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid and The Matchstick Girl were all lovely. The sets are nice and money does go into the overall appearance of the production. However, with that comes pretty expensive tickets. This has always been a pet peeve of mine. I know there are costs involved but we also pay a lot for lessons throughout the year and having to dish out $40 and up per person to see our child perform seems a bit much. Perhaps a half off discount for 2 parents would be nice. I mean they got you. You're going to go.. but it's an expensive night out after costumes, flowers, tickets, parking, dinner and of course the after show celebration at usually, Coral Cafe. We just went to see one of Media City's companies (Pacific Dance) perform Carmen And Don Quixote at the El Portal theater in NoHo. I was a bit disappointed in a few things. (which seem to be reoccuring problems no matter who or where they're performing) 1. dancers are always dropping props or parts of their costumes. 2. The sound is not professional and cut's in and out and lighting always seems to have trouble. 3. this particular show, there were 3 women behind us that appeared to be intoxicated and talked and screamed so loud during the whole show. Really with All The money we are being charged they should have someone monitoring for things like this. 4. One of the instructors is behind the times. Seems she enjoys the racey sex moves of the 80"s and props referring to alcohol and smoking. (i get some things are written with things like this, but children are watching and I believe instructors have artistic freedom to make things a little more age appropriate for viewers). Not to mention again, the props get dropped anyways. Ugh. At the studio in Burbank... Parking is not easy. There is a free Parking structure but it fills up fast. Street Parking is difficult. But Burbank does have many free parking structures. It's just a short walk. Recently I ran in for my niece and asked for her by name and The girl at The desk said she wasnt there. And she was. Way to keep track of The minors. :/ And as for the classes.. They seem to know there stuff. All levels for all ages. Lots of fun. Great exercise. You're never too young or too old. Get up and dance. Definitely worth checking out.

She has received outstanding training from incredibly skilled and passionate teachers in an extremely positive, supportive, and professional environment. The artistry and education provided by BDA under the direction of Jason Coosner are exceptional. I can't recommend this studio enough for all dancers - from first-time dancers to those looking for a pre-professional training program!

The teaching staff brings a wealth of experience to these young dancers and they do so with such a loving way. The foundation of BDA is ballet with which these kids build from in jazz, lyrical, technique, tap, hip hop and acro. If you want to be a ballerina this is the place. If you want to tap or do lyrical this is the place. If you want to dance for fun. This is the place! The focus is on building a well rounded dancer that can take their experience to college or to a professional ballet company or to just have fun! Jason Coosner, the studio Director and main choreographer, has his MFA and has created this academy for all of the right reasons. He is the president of Dance Masters Pacific Coast and also teaches at the Relativity School. His choreography is absolutely beautiful, age appropriate and truly shows off the strengths of each dancer. I can't imagine anyone else choreographing my daughters contemporary solos. His work is award winning. For those that have kids with serious dance aspirations, my 11 year old got accepted to the School of American Ballet CA intensive on full scholarship this summer. It's a pretty big deal. With all of her BDA training, she was able to walk into her classes completely confident, independent and take on the new Balanchine style easily. Many think they have to go to a ballet only school to compete at YAGP or get into a company. Nope! Elyse placed 2nd in contemporary and top 10 in classical and was invited to the NY YAGP Finals this past year at age 10. The beauty of this academy is that she can strive to be a professional ballerina doing ballet along with all of the other dance forms. Dance is joy! I believe if you entrust your kids dance education and experience to Burbank Dance Academy your kids will find that joy and have a love of dance. Oh! And wait until you see the beautiful studio!

Let me start by saying this loud and clear: I am not a great dancer. I'm decent--with two left…read morefeet--and I work hard outside of class because, well, I need to. I've even booked private sessions with instructors just to nail down routines. So if that sounds familiar, keep reading--because by the end of this, you might just be signing up for your first class. I've been a proud member of the Groove Zone community for nearly two years now, and honestly, I can't say enough great things about the instructors and the entire program. Yolanda Thomas, the owner and lead instructor, is a force of nature--an incredibly kind, passionate, and inspiring human who truly cares about every single person who steps through the studio doors. Her motto? "If you think you can't dance, I bet ya I can teach ya how to." (Spoiler alert: She can.) Thanks to Groove Zone, I've performed at two South Bay Lakers halftime shows and even hit the floor at a WNBA halftime performance at Crypto Arena--in front of 15,000 people. Yeah... 15,000. Never in my life did I think I'd perform in front of a live audience, let alone an arena crowd. It's the kind of rush you can't describe--and an experience most people never get the chance to have. And the community? Pure gold. The dancers I've met have become friends, cheerleaders, and my biggest supporters. There's zero judgment in the studio--because we're all there for the same reasons: to learn something new, break a sweat, and most importantly--have fun. Big shoutout to another powerhouse instructor: Manuela. She might seem intimidating at first (because let's be real--she's an absolute beast on the dance floor), but she is hilarious, supportive, and knows her stuff inside and out. She pushes you to grow, step outside your comfort zone, and leave class drenched in sweat--but in the best way possible. When it's time to hit the stage, she'll make sure you're 100% performance ready. And if you're not? She'll tell you that too--but with honesty, compassion, and the goal of making sure next time, you'll own that stage. That's how Groove Zone rolls: real talk, real support, real results. Take it from me--don't do what I did. I walked into my first class... got overwhelmed... and walked right back out. It took me a year to return. Don't let your nerves hold you back like that. Instead, challenge yourself. Step outside your comfort zone. Join a community of people who love to dance just as much as you want to. You don't have to be Justin Timberlake or Britney Spears. (I'm definitely not!) You just have to show up, bring your energy, make some new friends, and get one hell of a workout while you're at it. And when the day comes that you see yourself on a Jumbotron at a packed stadium, absolutely killing it in a halftime performance--don't say I didn't warn you about how badass you'd feel.
