I was already in an Uber car to the airport at a significant discount to the price fixed taxi fare. The dispatcher/owner while apologetic did not offer a free ride or other accommodation for the mistake.

I did some research about cab companies around Cambridge/Boston, and Green Cab and Yellow Cab Companies stood out because of its app. The app was intuitive and easy to navigate. You'll need to register for an account, and you'll receive a email confirmation after the ride is booked. You'll also see a fee estimation when you book the ride, but the actual price may vary. On the day, I got a notification inside the app (i had it open) about 15 minutes prior to our schedule pickup time that said a car was assigned to our ride. It tells you the license plate and the driver's info. Once the cab is dispatched, you can track it live on the map. Our cab arrived about 5 minutes earlier than the schedule pick up time. The car has the cab company logo on it so it was easy to find. The driver also gave us a call when he was outside, which was quite nice. Our ride was about $25 before tips and we got to south station in less than 20 minutes. I actually checked Uber price before we headed out and it would have cost $50-$70. You can pay by cash or credit card in the car, or link a credit card in the app. Overall it was a good experience, and I would use Green Cab and Yellow Cab Companies again!

The vehicle was impeccably clean, and even had bottled water available if I wanted it! The most courteous driver you could hope for; we had a most pleasant chat to the airport - and despite heavy traffic, and construction blocks - he knew exactly how to get around them without stress. He shared with me that the cab drivers own their vehicles and are responsible for them, which impressed me because it shows their commitment to 'old-fashioned' quality service.
