The first time I went for my current injury, I had to wait for almost a half hour. I was then told that I could come back another day because the DPT was busy. I responded by saying I was there now. I'll wait. When I finally got in to get diagnosed, there were a ton of people in there. The DPT listened to my description of my injury and without even examining me, told me what my injury was. There were so many interruptions at this point I wanted to walk out. But, I stayed to a continuing stream of interruptions during the time on was on the examining table when she finally examined me, almost an hour after I walked in the door. Against my better judgment, I made another appointment. When I showed up for the next appointment, I again had to wait. Again, there were a ton of people there. The assistant PT had no idea what I was supposed to be doing and had to continuously go back and forth to the DPT who was again dealing with multiple people. I just walked out. They couldn't care less about me walking out and canceling all my appointments. Despite its name, this PT place isn't geared to athletic injuries. It is dominated by older people. (There is nothing wrong with that. Just don't advertise that you gear to sports. For example, the DPT clearly wasn't an athlete.) It appears that the service that was once the cornerstone of this place is gone. It seems that it is all about getting as many people in the door as possible (Read: $$$$). That afternoon I made an appointment with Sportscare. They are very passionate about what they do. I will never return to SportsMed.

I feel that my overall health has improved- my immune system feels strong and my mind body connection has increased. I always come to Dr Jo with other questions "natural remedies for bug bites?", "how can I support my thyroid?", "holistic stress relief solutions?" She can assist with all things holistic, not just back pain! This place is a joke! They hire physical therapists who get…read moretheir license in a Cracker Jack box. Do not go here. They do not take their patients seriously. They do not look at their patient's charts. They will test you and use you as a guinea pig. It's play time for them. I was nearly healed thanks to my amazing chiropractor, who always had to undo the damage these so-called "doctors" would do by telling a person with a disc herniation from a car accident their kooky version of what physical therapy is -- like: walking across the gym floor holding a 20 pound dumbell in one hand and a 5 pound dumbell in another, while walking on my heels!! NOTE, I am petite, only a size 4 and not even 120 pounds! Plus, I had an injury! I was in so much pain, their Director of Operations (DoO), said I'd do better in their West Caldwell facility. (I later realized DoO was not concerned about me, but rather pushing the new West Caldwell facility! I was such a fool for listening to this snake oil salesman!) Anyway husband took a day off work to meet with him. And my husband said, "Just because my wife is in great shape, it doesn't mean she's not in pain." He looked my husband right in the eye and promised my husband that I'd be in good hands in West Caldwell. WRONG! I actually was okay until the PT I was working with went on vacation. Before this, I was 5-days straight absolutely pain free! THEN they paired me with a so-called "doctor" who thought it was okay to bend over and do repetitive squats with my butt sticking out holding a 10 pound weight. And I told her, "MY CHIROPRACTOR SAID NO SQUATS!" She did not listen and insisted it was okay. Her sassy remark was, "You carry groceries, don't you?" So rude and foolish! Uh, ma'am, no, my husband carries my groceries. And when I do carry groceries, I don't do squats with them. DUH! Anyway, after this so called "doctor" (who I looked up and is just a mere prenatal Pilates instructor, not at all a doctor) had me in such horrible pain!! I couldn't sleep that night and was crying in my husband's arms for hours. During the night I sent several emails to express my concern to the director of operations who promised me I'd be in good hands. ALSO NOTE, he said that this "doctor" reviewed my case. She reviewed NOTHING! She blindly made me do squats holding a 10 pound weight when I told her NO. THEN she asks me where the disc herniation was. I said, "Didn't you look at my chart?" She admitted she did not look at my chart. Caught in a lie. The DoO assured me that she read my chart. The owner Jack, sends me an email saying that I was the problem and that I'm stressing out their people. LMAO! Oh, dear, I am so sorry that I expressed I was in pain because your people don't know how to listen or how to read people's charts. THEN my husband called to speak with them directly. And in a cowardly manner, NO ONE got on the phone to speak with my husband. Is this how you treat your patients? Unacceptable. YOU ARE A FAILURE! Go on Google and you will see that other people dislike this place too and give bad reviews. It's one month since that pilates instructor got her paws on me and I'm still not feeling as good as I was beforehand. DO NOT GO HERE! These people are inexperienced and not passionate about their work at all. In fact the "doctor" said the reason she was in physical therapy was because she didn't want to go to medical school. She was also telling me about her divorce, which was unprofessional. I'm a patient -- I do not care about your life, honestly. I tell everyone how bad this place is. Other doctors shake their heads when I explain what happened here. One month later I'm still shaking my head. It's truly baffling. I have many friends in Livingston, West Caldwell, and Little Falls and told them to spread the word, not to go to this facility. It's an epic FAIL!

Each person taught me something different and useful. You can't go wrong with any of the PTs here. They really helped me through a difficult and painful time after I tore my ACL. I feel much better now and have learned skills that I will use in the future. The PT assistants and front desk staff are also lovely and helpful. This is an excerpt from an email that was sent over two weeks ago, and has yet to be given a…read moreresponse by Patti or any of the office staff with access to the email login: I had a massage yesterday and would like to give some feedback. It was my first prenatal massage (38 weeks today), and I was trying to do something for myself to help me relax and prepare for birth physically and mentally. Instead what I got was a nightmare. I am now bruised, and feeling like the massage therapist may have done damage to the baby. The massage therapist was 15 minutes late to our appointment (I should have just left then, but gave her grace and stayed). The cleaning woman let me into the office. When Ariadne walked in, she was in her pajamas, did not introduce herself, and proceeded to set up the room slowly (we did not get started until 10:30, my appointment was supposed to have started at 10a). She never actually did introduce herself, so I'm not entirely positive that the person who was massaging me was Ariadne. Once I got into the room and laid down on the table, she came in and asked how the music was, to which I replied that it was perfect (soothing and relaxing). She said she was going to change it to something better, and ended up picking loud, fast paced classical music- because the music wasn't for me- it was "for the baby." She then proceeded to massage my back, which was fine. When I flipped to face up, she was extremely rough, especially on my abdomen down where the baby's head was, which is now bruised. She pushed so hard trying to "loosen my abs" that I was wincing in pain, and had to pull away from her at multiple points. I do not think this is part of a standard prenatal massage, and feared for the damage she may have done to the baby by pressing so hard as to bruise my skin right above the baby's head (my baby has been rotating between LOA, LOT, ROA, and LOP, so she easily could have been hitting a fontanelle or an eye, especially because there is so little fluid/cushioning next to the head near the pubic bone as its trying to engage). I tried to look her credentials up on the website to see if she was a certified prenatal massage therapist, but her bio is nowhere to be found. Throughout the massage she talked about how this baby was going to teach me a lesson, especially if its being so stubborn in the womb (rotating all over the place at 38 weeks)- to which I replied, I don't think this baby is doing anything but trying to find the best way out. But she continued to talk about how babies that give their parents easy pregnancies are horrible kids, difficult to deal with, etc. After 7 miscarriages and a miracle to get to being this far pregnant I really felt insulted by her view of children, and her trying to impose these harmful views on an expecting mother who is mere weeks away from giving birth to her miracle/rainbow baby. While she had me facing up she completely disregarded proper draping techniques which made me super uncomfortable, and decided to "stretch" my legs/hips, to the point that my knees were nearly touching my ears, which was extremely uncomfortable not only physically, but because of how exposed I was. Overall, I am so incredibly disappointed in this experience, and can't believe that I was charged $140 for an hour and a half of torture, pain, and humiliation. I will never come back to the office for another massage. I woke up in the middle of the night last night with severe anxiety because of this massage, and am praying that this child comes out in the next few weeks unharmed. I hope this case was isolated and she was just having a bad day, but the impact was so intense that I am now hesitant to schedule body work with any other practitioner for fear that this will happen to me again.
