The staff in Farm street are lovely. They are all very polite, pleasant and chatty. It does get quite busy in there at times and as it is only small, there is no space to queue but the staff are very competent and soon get through the queue. The shelves are always well stocked and if you can't find what you want you can always ask. Of course there isn't much choice on offer but the selling point is like I said the convenience. They do have a good reduced section though and you can usually get reduced priced bread and salads as well as meats and fish. Sainsburys local do still have some of the offers on from the big stores so it is always worth a look if you have one near you.

I also noticed they have flowers, cards and gift card, always handy for last minute presents! The prices are fairly reasonable for a convenience store and I have been to more expensive stores in the area. Open from early morning until at least 10pm every night this isn't somewhere you'd travel miles to visit but if you live nearby it's a great place to purchase things like compost or barbeque briquettes. They are also notable for stocking a good range of real-ales, an extensive selection of doggie treats (which get the seal of approval from Dave the greyhound) and the man who runs it is a really nice chap who often compliments us on how well Dave is looking and very much lives by the adage 'the show must go on'. Not only does the shop stay open at Christmas and New Year but perhaps most memorably of all through a recent power cut where thanks to a torch-lit fetching service the people of Northfield Road were able to continue to make their essential purchases of booze, fags and Monster Munch.

The prices are inflated because it is a convenience store, if you have more time you may want to head to the larger Morrisons in Edgbaston which is only a short ride away on the tram. Unfortunately though, Super Choice News isn't exactly what you'd call the cleanest newsagents in the world. On my visit, drinks refrigerators had their lights switched off, crisps were stacked high in cardboard boxes, products were caked in dust and several cracks were noticeable in the store's ceiling. However, the floors were clean, the aisles were wide and Super Choice felt spacious inside, yet considering its size, stock seemed very limited, with no alcohol on sale whatsoever and a very disappointing selection of household cleaning products. If you're after a magazine or desperate for a few essentials, look no further, but if you're picky with your products or need to grab more than just a couple of items, I'd recommend visiting one of the other convenience stores along the Scott Arms High Street.

It is a pretty standard convenience store, with basic food and household items alongside booze and newspapers. I purchased some chewing gum so I didn't exactly do much in the way of in-depth research. It looks massive from the outside, but is actually rather small inside. There are lots of convenience stores in Old Hill and this one is perhaps middle ranking. It is convenient and it is a store. I've been in better and I've been in worse.
