If you are going to pay specific attention to any one review of Winchester Park / Winchester Woods…read moreApartments in Riverside, RI, let this be the one review. I have been a resident of Winchester Park since 2000 and just recently gave my notice to vacate due to a relocation only. I have called Winchester Park home for almost 20 years. As I read through some of the reviews, especially the ones less than four/five stars, I would be remissed if I didn't respond. In my almost 20 years here I have been through blizzards, hurricanes, power outages, the occasional broken appliance or needed repairs, and just about anything else one can expect with living in the same place for as many years as I have. Having that, I can unequivocally assure anyone looking to rent at Winchester Park that their office staff and maintenance staff are the quintessential professionals. Everything boils down to realistic expectations. Example, in the event of a blizzard, of course someone's driveway and walk way is going to be first and someone's is going to be last, it is a rather large complex. However, maintenance is out and on the property as soon as safe clean up can begin plowing driveways and hand shoveling walkways. The same applies to hurricanes and tropical storms. Cleanup is instantaneously. In the event of the occasional power outage, well you are at the mercy on National Grid, however, you can be rest assured the Management Staff is on the phone with them and they are constantly sending updates when such an event should occur. Blizzards and Hurricanes are obviously not the norm, but I mention the above to illustrate that the management and maintenance staff at Winchester Park Apartments are prepared for everything, norm or not. On to some of the everyday issues. In my almost 20 years I have had the occasional appliance fail and repair needed. I can assure you each time that my concerns were addressed in a very timely manner. Same rule applies here, you have to have realistic expectations. If you need a hole fixed or a repair maintenance can handle themselves, it will be done the same day. If it is something that needs a specialist (HVAC Repair man, etc.) it may take an extra day. Regardless, any concerns/issues I have had in all my years have always been rectified in a expeditious manner. When I moved here back in 2000 the current Property Manager Milena was one of the office staff Leasing Consultant that showed me my first apartment. Since then Milena has been promoted to the Property Manager and her office staff and maintenance department have not missed a beat. When you know someone personally for 20 years, you usually get a pretty understanding of that person's character. I can say without hesitation, Milena takes her job both seriously and personally. I can also say without hesitation, she cares deeply about the tenants and the community at Winchester Park. To address some of the other reviews regarding pool closing, dog poop, etc. I will say just this. The pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, there is no longer any Life Guard to open/close pool. You swim at your own risk. Access is controlled by a magnetic key. The pool opens at 10am and closes at 8pm. The pool is usually closed by a assigned resident. Pool access is no longer an issue. It is now up to the tenants to adhere to the Pool Policies, such as limit of guest, accompanying young children, no alcohol, etc. As for the dog poop, I find almost some of the complaints laughable as somehow methodically it is the office staff or maintenance departments fault? We are grown adults, we are asked to pick up after our pets. If we do not have enough common decency for our fellow neighbors and our community than perhaps we don't belong in such a community? Milena and her staff are constantly sending email blast addressing these issues when they become a problem. As for the rents, I am not going to get into a financial discussion but I will say, having been a resident again for almost 20 years, I find the rents fair and the increases to be along the lines of what could be expected. Yes there is a monthly common usage fee which includes water, trash, etc. but this fee is explained to you when you sign your lease. I don't get the complaints on this topic either. You can either pay a usage fee on a monthly basis which is shared amongst all tenants or you could get a flat fee added to your rent (which most likely would be rounded up). Budgeting 101 people? In closing, I will reiterate that I am very pleased with my long time here at Winchester Park Apartments. Milena and her staff to me are second to none. Realistic expectations, a little common sense, and take ownership of what is expected of you and Winchester Park Apartments is a perfect community to live. I hope this fair and balanced review helps you when considering renting here.

They give zero cares on any conditions. Doesn't matter if you've paid your rent on time or kept your unit in better condition than you received it, you're just a number that they can get money from. It's very sad and disappointing. When you talk to the leasing staff to have a conversation they talk to you like you've been a piece of shit tenant and don't deserve anything. It's unfortunate because I've watched how the tenants in my building have left things and I am being treated like I've did exactly what they've done and I have done nothing but follow the rules. I am glad I'm actually moving because I don't think another year here would be beneficial when they nickel and dime you for all things.

I had some random issues (but I wouldn't expect any other tenant to have) they were always resolved quickly and with a smile. The maint staff is so friendly they always say hello and ask about your day. As a college student I love living here. I just signed another year lease and I am happy I did. The property has a pool, fitness center, club house with free WiFi, 5 laundry rooms and ample parking. It is about a 10 min drive to the city. There are plenty of restuarnts and shopping places near by.

This apartment will charge your money for no reason and treat their customers very mean!!! In the early of this month, my boyfriend and I dropped by this apartment's office to look for our new home. A big white woman asked us to fill out some application charts to help them gain our detailed information. After that, she asked us to get some extra documents for them. When we prepared to leave, this woman required us to leave $100 check as this apartment's deposit. However, when we come back to the office, the staff told us we were denied by their company. That means, they could not rent us this apartment just because I had few times late payments for my old apartment. But at that day, I forgot to ask them to return my $100 check. After a week, I visited their office again to ask them to return my check; they said they could not return it because this $100 check is a non-refundable deposit. I am very angry because nobody told me this is a non-refundable check before I paid it. I tried to negotiate with them (a old lady and that big white woman), but they totally did not give me a chance to talk with them. What is worse, they yelled to me and threatened me by security and cops. I was so scared and helpless, so I decided to call 911 to get help. When I stayed outside at their office, I still could hear that big white woman continued to abuse me by using some terrible words. And as a international student, I recommend that all the international students should not live there. They treat foreigners in a very bad attitude. Actually, this white woman is a person who always shows terrible racial discrimination, so, if you are not a true white, you should be careful of it!! I am just a college student who wants to find a quiet place to live. Unfortunately, I entered a company with full of swindlers!!! To live this "very very good" apartment, you need to have a perfect leasing history, and abundant money in order to pay for everything at any moment! And as the other tenants said, this apartment does not fit its price, it is poor value for money! After reading my story, do you guys still wanna move there?? If so, I only can say you are the biggest idiot in this world!

PEERLESS Firstly,…read morelet me say that I've only lived here about a week. So far, I've had more pros than cons. Pros: Staff is very friendly, and always willing to help with whatever issues I may have. Security is good, and you never worry while coming home late. It's simply a beautiful building with a very interesting past. It used to be a club that would play some real headliners. My apartment is spacious and bright, with original floors and all. Cons: It's very noisy on weekends (but of course it would be as any place would that's surrounded by bars) The windows (this is a personal issue, and not something that is really a complaint) I'm short. Opening those windows were a real struggle and now I can't close them because I can't reach. This mean's I'll have to call maintenance for a ladder each time I want them opened or closed. The food dispenser was clogged and the washer was filthy, again a personal problem because they offered to clean and fix everything before I moved in but I chose to move in sooner rather than later, not giving them time to fix the issue. The only real issue I have is that there are fruit flies in my apartment and they are PERSISTENT. Having worked in the bar industry for five years, you'd think I would be able to get rid of them but they just keep breeding. I don't know if this is a maintenance issue that I can call them on, or if I have to call some form of pest control. The only reason it bothers me so much is because my kitchen is always clean, and yet they are just here. I hate that they keep getting into my cat's food when I leave it out for her. ALL IN ALL, I would def recommend the peerless building for anyone wanting to be downtown.
