The most rude and incompetent staff, all the way up to the regional manager. They take forever to respond, are awful at communicating with each other and prospective tenants, and just straight up lie about what's going on. We were initially interested in getting an apartment with them, but due to our experience (where we had been strung along for 2 months, lied to on multiple occasions, and vehemently struggled to get a hold of them), we decided against it before even signing the lease. They forced us to pay $720 total for the application and "deposit," and are now saying that there's no way for us to get any of that money back, per "policy." I moved here in 2016 and I honestly enjoy living here. If there are any concerns that I may have they are always taken care of. Very good neighbors. Everyone keeps to themselves. I have had the pleasure of new residents that have moved into my building and have children. No major concerns, kids will be kids. In all honesty I would recommend my community of Meadowlark to other people. As far as management each and every one of them that I have had the pleasure of meeting have done a great job. Do NOT rent at this apartment complex. My family has lived (and we are moving now) here for two years. This management specifically Eric Raasch has let my building become INFESTED with cochroaches! We have notified him since Nov 2017, and he has not acted as a good property manager should. Two weeks ago we found the source of the roaches. Our neighbor who is a hoarder with cat and human feces all over her apartment. Eric KNEW/KNOWS about this but is okay with her unsanitary living conditions. After we reported this two weeks ago, ERIC said I will wait for ten days to spray. Each day hundreds of more roaches populated. Once they sprayed, they informed me (on recording), this will take many many months to fix. We found the source due to the woman asking my teenager to watch her cat. She left for ten days without any food or kitty liter for her cat. When we opened the door the roaches fell from he ceiling. Eric Raasch, Property manager for Hubbell Properties is retaliating against us, the tenants who keep their place immaculate by ignoring our complaints of the hoarding neighbor who lives in filth, she stays and we are more than anxious to vacate. 7 months of not handling a major pest control issue, he should be fired. Management knew of this woman, as they entered her home many many several times this year. Meadowlark Place Grimes Iowa is INFESTED WITH COCHROACHES- beware, if you have nice beautiful belongings, and want sanitary safe living conditions for your family, STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN! This place has gone downhill. Hallways are usually trashed and stained. Management's best interest is not towards the tenets. COCKROACHES. Several unmet needs and concerns. Kiss your deposit goodbye if you rent here & expect to owe $100's more once you try to leave. They will charge you for things THEY want to update upon your departure. Such a beautiful complex created into a huge disappointment. Oh, and rent also jumps up. Save yourself until this nest of a Hubbell Property saves ITSELF. I rented from meadowlark place apartments for 1 year, they are expecting me to pay for the carpet cleaning at $100.00 I would think that would be a maintenance procedure and the cost associated with the nature of the business. But OK, lesson learned clarify the exit procedure prior to renting and record the conversation. However the handle to the patio door and the blinds interact and cause the blinds to bend when opening the door. They want the charge me for a new blind based on there own design flaw. I would avoid this place or clarify and record any discussions prior to signing the lease. read more

I have been more than disappointed with living in the Medowlark community. The staff is very rude and unhelpful. I have lived here almost two years and the first building we lived in was in the original construction and we really liked. So we decided to renew our lease in the brand new building. We have now lived there 9 months and have had nothing but problems since moving into the brand new unit. Since we moved in our garbage disposal had beer caps in from them building it... We had to take it apart ourselves to fix it. Our screen door still doesn't work to this day. The fan, door, and cupboards were all messed up and it took them 5 months to fix that after numerous talks with amber the manager. To top off our experience our closest clothes rack ripped out of the wall because they didn't put any of the screws in studs or put the clips on top that it's suppose to have. It took them a month to come fix it, keep in mind I called at least 3 times a week during that month to see when it was finally going to be fixed someone finally showed up and "fixed" it by using the same bent bars and broken anchors needless to say I put a fourth of my clothes back up and it ripped right back out. It than took another 2 months for them to finally fix it again with many not so friendly chats multiple times a week. Finally I asked if we could have a cut on rent because this is outrageous and all they could give me was a gift card to a clothing store which I still haven't received! I finally went down and had enough and told them they had 3 days to fix because I had someone scheduled to come fix it and would be sending them the bill. What do you know they show up the next day and do it but of course they have to be rude about it because when they showed up I was in the shower even tho on all the shits I have filled out I said call first. They fixed it with the same bent bars again.... And now won't call me back. To top all of this we are suppose to have an intercom system and it still isn't working... read more

I attempted to rent from Meadowlark Place. Scott Montgomery was the inept leasing agent. I visited the property and let them know on a Friday afternoon, both by voicemail and email a few days later, I was interested in pursuing the apartment. Crickets. Monday he provided me with the application and no way of paying the application fee other than stopping by the office - inconvenient! So I stop by at 4:40, the door is locked though the leasing office is open until 5. I send back the application and wait. End of the next day, I have to initiate the follow up asking the status. We're still not fully approved, criminal history isn't back. This morning he lets me know that it came back fine and gave us the $ amount of the deposit. I ask how to pay and if I may review the lease. Scott's response? The apartment is now taken. Ok - why wouldn't he get off his lazy butt and communicate faster, OR, even better, why wouldn't he let me know that hey, there's another interested renter and just a heads up? I can't believe he's even employed there and this is how you run the rental portion of your property. LAZY AND UNPROFESSIONAL. read more
