Today is the Friday before Valentine's Day, so we were wise to make reservations at the restaurant…read moreat Byrncliff Golf Resort. We came in promptly at 5 o'clock to find a very busy parking lot, an indication that the restaurant was already becoming crowded. Snowmobilers were parking their sleds along the trail-side and filling the open tables in the dining rooms. Our waiter was spot on, extremely attentive, pleasant, professional and knowledgeable. He kept our beverages full, brought our onion ring appetizer quickly, and followed up with our dinners soon after. I had been craving a beer-battered fish fry for the longest time. It really is a regional favorite at this time of year in the weeks preceding Easter. Byrncliff is one of the few restaurants in my vicinity that serve up a traditional beer-battered cod fish fry. I was amazed at the huge portion of fish on my large dinner plate, which included a nice serving of braised zucchini slices and red bell pepper chunks. I upgraded my French fries to garlic Parmesan fries for $3.00. They were very delicious and well worth the extra money. Additionally this meal included a scoop of macaroni salad, sweet coleslaw, and a slice of rustic bread and butter. My Special Valentine ordered the broiled fish with Italian seasoning. He always goes for the healthier option! He had a perfectly baked potato with sour cream, Mac salad and coleslaw. We indulged our grandsons and let them order a large cheese and pepperoni pizza from the wood-fired oven. The pizza sauce was rustic and savory. The pepperoni was cup and char, a true Buffalo favorite! Our littlest grandson ordered bbq chicken fingers with hand-crafted potato chips. He said these fingers are his favorite!! They are thick and juicy "tenders". We will definitely include Byrncliff golf resort and restaurant in our dining rotation. They serve up excellent food and affordable price in a beautiful pastoral setting

I absolutely LOVE this golf course…read more It's a great beginner-ish course with par 3s and 4s. The front 9 is easier because it's much more wide open. The back 9 is more fun because you have alot of trees and more par 3s. Don't let hole 10 discourage you in the beginning... It's a longer one that just about everyone I've played with hits into the road for some reason. It's a straight hole ...I don't know why we all have issues with it! Prices are great. About $62 for two and a cart. I highly suggest the cart for this course rather than walking. There are plenty of water holes, including one where the green is its own island, so prepare yourself to lose a couple balls! The course is beautiful and well taken care of. Probably one of my favorite courses! There is a kitchen/bar where they offer plenty of simple lunch and beer options - burgers, dogs, cookies, etc. A little on the pricey side for some frozen items thrown on the grill but I'm appreciative to have the food options after a couple hours of golfing!

The course itself is very nice, but I will never be back. The owner came out 3 separate times…read moretelling us to hurry up and that we were holding everyone up... Apparently we were wrong for retrieving our ball out of the edge of the water hazard. He told us to get off the hole and keep moving. No one caught up to us, the group behind us didn't even make it to the tee box on the holes when we were on the greens. VERY RUDE. We were not dragging our feet, our threesome finished 18 in 4 hours. Never again.

My aunt and uncle, and most of their friends it seems, come here often. It's a bit of an older crowd here, but still worth checking out. Though, make time for parking because it's street parking and there's not much of it close by. I got the soup d'jour which was potato and leek. It was yummy and comforting, especially on a cold and rainy day. The soup was savory and not over salted. My main course was fish and chips. The fish was plump, and the batter was crispy. The fries were on the softer side. I didn't try the cole slaw because I'm not a fan. Service was friendly. I would state that you should come here when you are not in a time crunch. Not that they're slow - I think the food came out in time. But you want to take the time to enjoy the food, views, and company. Lastly, the atmosphere is more on the quiet side, at least for Americans maybe (I guess I'm feeding into the stereotype but also I come from a loud family). So something to keep in mind when you're there.
