The Hyatt level of service I have come to expect and could identify blindfolded, is in full employ here in Maintz. Our check in was most pleasant and the club lounge staff is the same. Something about the Hyatt experience reassures me that, if something were to displease me, it would be fixed! And fast!! It is a joy to be cared for by Hyatt professionals ... Then I must dwell on the location. Mainz is a lovely little place outside the bustle of Frankfurt. It is full of history and culture and situated along a riverbank. And in the primest of locations, along that bank, lies the Hyatt Regency. The pristine remains of an 1800s military fort is accommodated as the southern wall of the hotel lobby! I've never seen anything like it. The post modern lobby, complete with minimalist tavern, is walled on one side by an 1839 fort! I stood amazed for a moment, taking it in. The room levels of the building do not disappoint. Our room is, at the same time, cool and modern and cozily comfortable. An entire wall of our single room looks out over the river boardwalk. The scene outside, joggers and locals walking dogs, is so bright and welcoming! We are considering a late check out tomorrow to better enjoy our short time here, which is not something we do regularly. Visit this little gem of a hotel, and thank me later.

GREAT HOTEL RIGHT ON THE RHINE RIVER…read more============================= This is a very nice hotel with comfortable rooms, good food and central location on the Rhine River. The highest rooms on the side of the river have the best views and the old fortress blocks the views for the lower level rooms. We walked to the weekly farmer's market that was right by the cathedral and another church with the Marc Chagall windows.

Always happy to see a water kettle. The breakfast buffet was big with many dishes. Great location and a nice place to have a drink looking at the Rhine. We had soup and salad.

We arrived from Frankfurt Airport on a regional train, exhausted, and check‑in took over 25 minutes. It wasn't busy, the front desk simply couldn't find our reservation. When they finally did, they told us the room wasn't ready yet unless we paid an early check‑in fee. We agreed to pay it, but then they said their credit card machine was down. It took two staff members to check us in, and both seemed very young, newly hired, and unsure of the computer system. There was a manager or more experienced person at the front desk who did not help at all. After handing us the key, neither newbie explained anything about the hotel, amenities, or breakfast options. From the lobby to our room was THE LONGEST WALK EVER. Was I at Caesars or MGM in Las Vegas? It felt like we walked past an entire convention center wing. Our area was quiet, but the beds were too soft, the pillows had an odd odor, and I had to leave the windows open to air out the room. Thank goodness for crisp, cold German air and Lüften!!! For what we received, the hotel felt overpriced. We were jet‑lagged and slept most of the time, and we didn't eat on‑site since there were so many great options near Marktplatz. Pluses: complimentary sparkling and still water, an additional elevator across the street with room access, and a nice view of the river.
