We don't even use Hilton points anymore, but we chose this hotel because a tram stop is right outside the lobby, you can walk along the Rhine, and there are plenty of food and shops nearby. We arrived from Frankfurt Airport on a regional train, exhausted, and check‑in took over 25 minutes. It wasn't busy, the front desk simply couldn't find our reservation. When they finally did, they told us the room wasn't ready yet unless we paid an early check‑in fee. We agreed to pay it, but then they said their credit card machine was down. It took two staff members to check us in, and both seemed very young, newly hired, and unsure of the computer system. There was a manager or more experienced person at the front desk who did not help at all. After handing us the key, neither newbie explained anything about the hotel, amenities, or breakfast options. From the lobby to our room was THE LONGEST WALK EVER. Was I at Caesars or MGM in Las Vegas? It felt like we walked past an entire convention center wing. Our area was quiet, but the beds were too soft, the pillows had an odd odor, and I had to leave the windows open to air out the room. Thank goodness for crisp, cold German air and Lüften!!! For what we received, the hotel felt overpriced. We were jet‑lagged and slept most of the time, and we didn't eat on‑site since there were so many great options near Marktplatz. Absolutely incredible stay! We were there 10 nights and our adult daughter and boyfriend joined us for 5 nights. We each had River view king rooms on the executive floor and the staff, rooms, food and location could not be heat. Already planning a return stay this fall. read more

Stayed here while in town for work. I was upgraded to a room in the river (1778). It was a really nice room with a fantastic view of the river. The breakfast was really nicely done. I have stayed at this property 4 or 5 times this year. Extremely friendly staff from the customer service desk to the bar and restaurant staff. Great views of the river as this property is right on the river. Breakfast is a wonderful spread with something for everyone. Parking is VERY expensive 34 Euros per 24 hours, but it's hard to beat the location. The rooms are very nice, clean and modern. No pool on property. There is a nice restaurant though the menu is limited. I recommend and I will be back read more

I've traveled with Hilton around the United States and Europe, and I would never stay at the Hilton Mainz again or recommend it. It's fair that the various Hilton brands have different service levels and expectations (a Hampton is not a Conrad), but the Hilton Mainz is not on par with the Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand. I stayed in 7 different rooms at Hilton Mainz this summer during business travel. 5 of the rooms had maintenance issues. I tried every method to appropriately have these issues fixed: talking to the front desk in person, calling the front desk, using the Hilton app messaging service, and emailing the Hilton Mainz Guest Relations email address that I was left at check in because it was a multiple long term stays with intermittent check outs. I reported a broken bathroom trash can lid, a non-functioning refrigerator, a light out in a bathroom, an electrical problem that caused half the lights and outlets in the room to repeatedly go out no less than 5 times, an air conditioner that flooded roughly a quarter of the room because the filter wasn't serviced properly, another light out in the bedroom, a prior guests dirty clothes left in the bathroom, and a filthy shower with dirt and hair in the shower caddy and clogging the drain. There is very little attention to the state of the property. This was most obvious when the air conditioner flooded the room; even after the maintenance technician visited the room, I still was not moved out of the room for another 2 evenings and I had to specifically tell the hotel staff that the room was still flooded and that no attention had been given to drying the carpet out. When the hotel staff finally offered to move me, after knowing all the subsequent issues, still moved me to a room with a light out, dirty clothes, and a dirty shower. They could not even bother to ensure the room was properly prepared; I wasn't treated as a guest that needed a higher level of service given the trouble I was going through, I was just a name moving from one room to another. A coworker's room also had the air conditioner flood; there is an obvious lack of regular service to the rooms. The most concerning part of this though, is that the hotel staff requested a positive testimonial letter from me to submit for preferred government lodging listing. When I told them I wasn't interested in doing so, they pushed me further. I reminded them of all the issues I was having and that was right as the air conditioner was flooding. Again, instead of giving prioritized attention to the floor or ensuring I had a clean and functioning room, the staff was more concerned with making me stay longer, even to the point of dragging other Americans into trying to make me extend my stay. It was so extremely disrespectful. If you a senior in a tour group, you'll love the Hilton. If you expect any level of quality and service, pick the Hyatt Regnecy Mainz that even has better river views. read more

They were more than accommodating-even when we informed them we were not staying at the Hilton Mainz THIS TIME. It may be a little more than other places to stay, but it is worth it! Right on the river, great service, excellent food, on the walkway off the river (perfect for strolls & bikes)=a warm Mainz welcome. read more

I've stayed at this Hilton for many years. I love the location on the Rhein with easy access to the city as well as neighboring Wiesbaden and Frankfurt. I stayed here from Christmas Day through 2nd January 23. Firstly, I arrived exhausted after a long international flight and was able to check in early which was heaven sent. I had a 3 bed room for myself and 2 sons. The room was in the "other building" it's a long walk but worth it if you like to use the fitness studio. My room was super spacious I think it was a studio room. There was a nespresso machine as well as a electric kettle. The only down side was the view of the ugly apartment buildings. The other half of my stay was in the main building I had a few hiccups but the staff was amazing. I had a view of the Rhein and perfect view of fireworks on NYE. The breakfast buffet was great as always. We went to the executive lounge daily. The staff was amazing. I wanted to shout out some of the staff Thomas, Matthew, Brittney,Anastasia and so many more. Stayed here overnight at the beginning of our Germany, Switzerland And Austria tour. Beautiful location right on the Rhein river and 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. The room was a good decent size, we were on the top floor facing the street but didn't hear any traffic noise whatsoever. Bathroom was very clean and spacious. Water pressure was excellent, shower feels like you're getting a power wash. The mattress was really hard so it took me a while to get comfortable and fall asleep. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived around 9am, our room wasn't ready but we were able to store our luggage. They were also nice enough to lend us an umbrella so we could walk around town in the rain. We had both dinner and and breakfast buffets. Excellent selections with lots of good flavors. The best part is the view of the river you get to enjoy whilst having your meal. read more

This was the best hotel during our Germany/Austria/Switzerland tour. Hotel was nice and up to date. Food was phenomenal. They had plenty to choose from for dinner and breakfast and the breakfast is a very traditional German fare with all kinds of wonderful jam, honeycomb, wursts, sausage, and various breaded items. They really should keep a list of pricing for items in the fridge though. We ended up paying $6 for water. The hotel was walking distance from several city shops and the rhine river, which was a nice bonus. read more

Good location with very good European vibe. The room was very warm with only a small fan to cool at night. However, you had to keep your room key in the slot to keep the fan on and your electronics charging. The problem with this was there was no way to turn off the bathroom light which lit up the entire room. We removed the room key to make the room dark enough to sleep only to sacrifice air and charged phones. read more

Actually, if you walk out the back door which is even nicer than the front, the hotel sits right in front of the amazing Rhine River. The beds are very comfortable, a great view from the 6th floor and the air conditioning worked great in the month of July. Oh and the Wi-Fi was strong enough to post this review and pictures on Yelp without any troubles. Much easier than some of the hotels in Italy. read more

First, the hotel is no where near the train station so if you aren't driving you will need to take a cab or 2nd source of transportation. I was really looking forward to staying at the hotel because it was my last stop before going home. The welcome desk was nice. Finding the room was a task because I was in the rooms located on top of the bank. No signs AT ALL told us where our room was once we got off the elevator; we asked for help. We had to walk a distance just to find the damn room. It was over a glass bridge and of course we were the last room, a problem because of our how tired we were from our trip through Germany and Austria. We just wanted to chill out. When we got to our room, it was such a treat to see they had set up a doughnut, waters and fruit. Full amenities and comfy bed. The point of staying at this Hilton location instead of the city Hilton was that people were boasting about the view of the Rhine. I booked my room very far in advance and a rewards member so you could imagine my annoyance when my view was of grubby apartments. In fact, the bed faces the apartments....uhhhh, yay! Bring out the popcorn. Furthermore, as mentioned, it is a little further from things than I would have liked. Not quite a total loss because our room was lovely but we were a 4 minute walk to the lobby and restaurant area. If I could do over I'd stay in a guest house...they looked nice. read more

I was happy to land this hotel for a great price. I'm a fan of Hilton - so this was a treat. Everything was spacious including the bathroom and shower. The shower offered plenty of water pressure. It was great. The rooms were pristine. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and courteous. They speak several languages. I've heard them speak English, Dutch, German and French. Their breakfast display is an amazing presentation of German fare. The spark and freshness was A+. The pretzels were great, eggs were cooked perfect, and fresh yogurt was superb. I've stayed here for over 2 months, overall I'd recommend staying here over any other hotel in the Mainz area. Clean sheets, delicious breakfast buffet (American & German style), and conveniently located next to all of the shops, bars, clubs, restaurants, festivals etc. Most of the hotel staff are friendly and chipper. They appear to really love their job, which makes me as the customer more comfortable. Multiple staff members have gone out of their way to accompany me during my long stay. It was a little "bumpy" at first, but the staff took action immediately after confronting them about any issue I had. read more

Room was nice, bed was super uncomfortable and could not sleep but a few hours. Turned in laundry to accomplish same day service... I was never contacted that it was ready. Received part of the laundry 11pm, but they lost my work uniform.. Which I need to work . They don't have a clue where it's at. Shower was the only thing positive of this Hilton.. Enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Mainz. It is a great location - directly on the Rhine. Mainz is a beautiful city - I love the old town - great little shops and beautiful architecture. Both the Weinstube and Brasserie restaurants serve lovely food and have a wonderful view of the Rhine River. The breakfast buffet is tasty and they make a great latte! We were lucky to be here during the Johannes festival - and could walk right out into the hustle and bustle. We watched the finale fireworks from our table at the Weinstube restaurant. This was our last hotel on an 18-day European trip. We were beat, so we couldn't wait to relax before jetting back home. The hotel was eerily empty; I don't think we saw more than one other patron during our stay. As a person who usually seeks to avoid human contact, you'd think this would be ideal. However, it was a little creepy. I'm thinking maybe it was empty because it was Sunday? Or maybe the US military base is empty? IDK. The hotel is situated near something akin to a strip mall. To get there, we walked past the Mainz projects and the saddest little strip mall casino I've ever seen (and I've been to Montana). The mall was also dead, with only an appreciable population near the Mainz cathedral. Back to the hotel: The room was very spacious, a little dated, but had a great view of the river. As someone previously said, you can see a beautiful sunrise if you get up early. It is also quite beautiful at night. It's pretty easy to get to the Frankfurt airport from here, but be forewarned: the airport is approximately 45 minutes from the hotel. I'd like to close with a plea to the American government. Can you please bring the troops back from Afghanistan? This hotel is empty and the city is a virtual ghost town. Mainz needs your help. read more

This hotel is in a good location, it's down the street from lots of shopping and restaurants. The food is actually good at the hotel. The only thing I wish was different is the business center is in an open space. I prefer more privacy when working on the computer. Also, the computers are not updated, so no PDF files can be viewed among other things. read more

This is a place you should avoid. Have been staying here for a couple of weeks now for business, but it's one disappointment after another. The rooms are pretty old and the bathroom equipment is sometimes broken. The food is very disappointing, resulting in microwaved half warm vegies, looking miserable. Today I tested the speed after repeatedly having a slow connection. See the picture posted; 1.9mb speed max. It is not even quick enough to load a simple webpage. The parking costed me 22 euro for one night last week, and many spots on the main level are not even big enough to fit a normal car. So please don't go here and book a different hotel. A very nice hotel located right on the bank of the Rhine river. The hotel was recently renovated and has a nice and modern decor. The check-in and check-out process is always quite efficient even if they can get busy with all the conference and cruise people they receive. The staff is very professional and courteous. The rooms are all very spacious - American size. The building has two wings, one on the river and one on the other side of the street. The decor is very consistent for the exception that the Riverside wing has a slightly less modern bathroom decor. All the rooms offers a very big office desk and storage for clothes and luggage. The mattresses are rather firm but the pillows are on the softer side. The gym is rather small for such a big hotel. Only a handful of equipment in a very small room. If you have a room on the other side of the street, expect a very long walk from and to the lobby. It's a rather arduous process. read more

I loved having the buffet at the restaurant. I had a view of the Rhine from the window beside my table and I was able to watch the sunrise. This hotel is in a good location because you can walk around the Rhine or cross to street to head to the Centre of Mainz. Within a 5-10 minute walk, you can walk to many stores, bakeries, cafes, or restaurants. Please note that the room might seem a bit dated, but there is a lot of space in each room. Had to Change room three times. Do not stay here if outside temperature is above 60 degrees Fahrenheit as rooms do not cool down! Also no WIFI signal or very little if your room is in corner or down hall from elevators. Very disappointed! read more
