Forever Grateful to Healing Care Hospice for the Care They Gave My Dad…read more I don't even know where to begin in expressing the depth of my gratitude for Healing Care Hospice and their incredible team. When my dad's health began to decline and we were told it was time for hospice, my family was heartbroken and scared. We didn't know what to expect, and we wanted to make sure he would be surrounded by love, comfort, and dignity. From the very first moment Healing Care Hospice stepped in, we felt an enormous sense of peace. The nurses who cared for my dad were absolute angels. They treated him like he was their own family -- always gentle, patient, and respectful. They explained everything to us with compassion and honesty, making sure we understood what was happening every step of the way. It never felt rushed or routine; it felt deeply personal. Even during the hardest moments, their calm presence and kindness made such a difference. The aides and caregivers were just as amazing. They made sure my dad was clean, comfortable, and pain-free. They noticed the little things -- fixing his blanket, massaging his hands, talking softly to him when he couldn't respond -- small gestures that spoke volumes about their compassion. The social worker and chaplain also brought so much comfort, not just to my dad but to our entire family. They gave us emotional support, listened when we needed to talk, and helped us process everything we were feeling. It meant the world to have people who didn't just focus on medical care but truly cared for the human and spiritual side of what we were going through. One thing that stood out was the way the team communicated. They were always available -- day or night -- and made sure we never felt alone. Whether it was a question about medication, a sudden change in my dad's condition, or just needing reassurance, someone was always there to help with warmth and patience. When my dad passed, the hospice team was with us, guiding us gently through those final moments with compassion and respect. They handled everything with such grace, giving us space to say goodbye in peace. Even after, they checked in on us to see how we were doing, which meant so much. I can honestly say Healing Care Hospice helped my dad transition with comfort and dignity, and helped our family find peace in an incredibly painful time. They weren't just caregivers -- they became part of our family during those last weeks. To everyone at Healing Care Hospice: thank you from the bottom of my heart. You made an unbearable time a little easier, and you gave my dad the care and love he deserved. We will never forget what you did for us. If anyone reading this is searching for hospice care for a loved one, I can say with complete confidence that Healing Care Hospice is the kind of team you want by your side. They bring heart, compassion, and genuine humanity to every moment.

She communicated and made schedules and arrangements with all necessary persons at the hospital and the home. She made the whole process very smooth. She kept me informed and updated without fail. ALL the staff there were so nice and caring and did their jobs so professionally. The level of comfort care they showed my mom, helped me and my family knowing that if we were not there that the visiting angels (especially Reina) were caring for her, brought us so much peace at a very emotional time. This company is truly of the highest quality in their professionalism, knowledge, procedures, and most of all, their KINDNESS to my mom and to my family. Thank You so much for all you do. I have nothing but praise for this organization! About 9am…read moreon a Monday, our doctor informed us that we had to start my father-in-law (or Dad, as we called him) on hospice care. I had no idea who to use for this, so our doctor made the call for us. About an hour or so later, I received a call from Charmayne, and about an hour later, she was meeting with me to get everything all set up. Now, Charmayne was a blessing to us.. as was everyone from Evergreen Hospice. Charmayne was very professional in handling all of the paperwork, easing our fears, joking with us at the right times to help relieve some stress and anxiety that we had stored up. I can not think of a better person to have representing a hospice than Charmayne. She made you feel secure in everything that was happening.. as well as what was going to happen down the road. By 2pm the same day, medical supplies were arriving at our home for Dad's needs: the hospital bed, a walker, oxygen tanks, and more. Shortly after that, Regina (the nurse) showed up. Regina was just what we needed. Dad is Korean with very little English comprehension. Regina is Korean and she was able to fully communicate with Dad (and Mom) everything that she was going to do for him (and Mom) to make everything as comfortable as possible for the both of them. Regina is a very sweet lady who really knows her stuff. She's great dealing with patients and has great patience dealing with the family's questions and concerns. Regina stayed with us for about two hours to make sure everything was taken care of (vitals, information for everyone, prescriptions ordered.. everything!). Around 8pm, Dennis arrived to check on Dad. Dennis was a sweetheart. Very kind and compassionate and he was wonderful with Dad and the family. Regina visited again on Tuesday as did Dennis. At no time did I feel that they were rushing through the visit to get to another patient. As far as I'm concerned, they treated Dad as if he was the most important person to them, as he was to us. Wednesday came... and we knew Dad's time was running out. regina was there for a few hours, talking with Dad.. talking with the family... doing everything she could to make everyone feel better. Later that night, Dennis was there for dad's final hour. Both Dennis and Regina stayed in contact with the doctor overseeing Dad's care, and this was very important towards the end of Dad's life. After Dad passed, Dennis didn't just pack-up his bag and say "See ya!" He stayed to talk with the family, did the final paperwork, contacted the mortuary (that we had already designated), prepped Dad's body for them, spent more time talking with the family.. and he didn't leave until almost 90 minutes after Dad's passing. During Dad's care, Evergreen made sure that all of Dad's needs were being met: we had great nurses, immediate delivery of medical equipment and prescriptions, they arranged for a representative from Social Services to visit to see what they could do to help. They were there at the beginning and they were there at the end. I received a few follow-up calls from everyone that I encountered from Evergreen. All of them were very sweet and compassionate. At no time (still almost a month later) have I received any calls from them (or any affiliated organization) to donate to a church, donate to them.. or received any other kind of intrusive or insensitive requestor comment from them. Evergreen is a Five Star business that treats your family like it's their family. And Charmayne... Thank You for EVERYTHING you did for us!

I urge you to carefully consider this before contracting with any hospice provider. Unfortunately, our experience with Faith & Hope made an already painful situation even harder. In April 2025, my mom suffered a massive stroke. She was placed under Continuous Care (CC), which meant she required critical, around-the-clock nursing support. We were told her case would be re-evaluated after three days. However, the care was stopped in less than 24 hours and we were given only 4 hours' notice that services would be discontinued. At that point, it was clear our needs no longer aligned with Faith & Hope's philosophy of care. We scrambled to hire private help on extremely short notice. That night, my mom was in significant pain & experienced agitation. She needed her medication adjusted and an increase of the dosage frequency to help manage her symptoms. The next day, we made final attempts to Faith & Hope to reassess mom's eligibility for CC, even though the on-call night nurse, when we asked, did acknowledge that we were free to seek another hospice provider. We waited all day for a response from Faith & Hope, but heard nothing. Faced with another evening without adequate care, we transferred my mom to a different hospice. They gave us the right care without hesitation. Sadly, our mom passed away only 4 days later. The only positive experience we had with Faith & Hope was with Nurse Theresa. She cared for my mom with compassion, dedication and a true commitment to patient advocacy. Theresa's thoughtfulness and support helped guide my brothers and me through an incredibly challenging time, and for that we are deeply grateful.

When it was no longer safe for Mom at home, I found a place for her at Emeritus at Casa Whittier in late 2012. At age 89, she had mobility issues and mild cognitive impairment. I liked the cleanliness of the facility and the friendliness of the staff and the residents. Mom adjusted well and seemed quite satisfied. She even put on some weight because she enjoyed the food so much. Unfortunately, was also change of ownership during Mom's stay (to Brookedale) that caused some serious problems. Example: A new policy was instated that provided for no more than two caregivers per shift. For a 60 apartment residence, that's just not enough. Mom had several bad falls--including one that required 8 stitches to close a scalp laceration. Other residents reported waiting an hour to get assistance to the bathroom, which explained the increase in falls. Tip: If you're looking for placement for a loved one, be sure to ask about staffing levels and talk to the residents. They can often give you a truer picture of daily events. Unfortunately, Mom declined physically and cognitively following a hospitalization and subsequent return to Emeritus. Her decline would have happened anywhere, but the mixed messages that I received from the staff during that time made a stressful series of events even worse. I visited daily, and I'd hear from one person that I should start looking for a board and care facility, and literally the next day I'd hear from someone else that, no, it was their job to help Mom readjust. Then on the third day another call would come and I'd be told that yeah, she had to go. I soon found a board and care facility that better suited Mom's needs and moved her out in June 2014. The new facility had a maximum of 6 residents and a minimum of two 24/7 caregivers. She received better care, was happy and safe, and it was actually less expensive than Emeritus. Tip #2: If a loved one needs care, take the time to learn about what assisted living does and does not provide and decide if that's the setting that will best suit their needs. It looks like Emeritus at Casa Whittier is now known as Whittier Glen, so perhaps there's been another change of ownership and things have improved. I hope so.

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile now. My Aunt who is a senior, she's 80 yrs old,…read morehas been living here for a little over a year. In just that time alone I have seen her personality blossom from being somewhat quiet, shy, cautious even a bit defensive into a VERY happy, social and funny, even dare I say... sassy gal! I will FOREVER be grateful for the Staff here. Each one of them has helped guide us both and I truly cannot recommend this facility high enough, I wish there were 100 Stars! From the start, Sharon Crowe, helped explain senior living, independent & assisted and that they provide both. She helped me and our family understand how to communicate with my Aunt who was initially hesitant on moving because she's not comfortable with change. Well, not may are and that's ok. So we went at a comfortable pace and started gathering information since her Dr. recommended she live in an independent facility and not alone in a condo anymore for her well being all around. What worked for my Aunt was testing out the facility on a respite stay. We didn't even know that was an option. My husband and I had to go out of the country for business and we were extremely concerned about my Aunt who at the time was still living alone in a condo. Sharon suggested a respite stay as a vacation for my Aunt ( they have a room available for this to rent out) where she could experience living there within the community and enjoy all the perks which include 3 meals a day in their nice dining room, tons of different activities every single day, housekeeping, laundry and most important for her and us was that she was in a safe place where if anything happened she'd be ok and we would be immediately notified. Whew, what a weight off our shoulders. THAT was the beginning, the way we eased her into living there. During her respite "vacation" stay she got to know all the staff which was key because becoming familiar and starting to feel safe made a huge impact. Also not having to do chores like cooking or housekeeping or laundry really made her happy! So after we returned from our trip and we discussed moving to a facility like this, there wasn't even a hesitation for my Aunt to state she wanted to stay and live there because there were no unknowns. AND it has only gotten better. She gravitated to the Staff first but slowly has become social and friendly with everyone and now knows every resident and even likes to help new residents learn to play games in the activity room, ( her favorite place!) In fact, when I call her, I try not to during "Bingo" or "game time" because she's busy having FUN! I could go on and on and on and on....really I could! There are so many awesome features including its a smaller community only 60 rooms so it feels more like a family but what I really want to express is that this is the first time in MY life, ( I'm almost 50 years old) that I have ever seen my Aunt this happy. She feels safe and is having FUN! That's what I want for her for the rest of her life and its what I hope to have later on for my husband and myself when we may need to find a home that suits our needs better as seniors. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU to Tonya Reynolds, Gail Blessum, Michael Alonzo, Sharon Crowe, Juli Sanchez, Jerry Saenz, Jorge Casillas, Betsy, Turan and the entire staff. Thank you for helping us, help my Aunt find the perfect home to enjoy her golden years with respect and dignity and I'll say it again FUN!
