Decor is the typical town hotel from 15-20 years ago with mahogany wood or what looks like mahogany wood around everywhere. Staff are really helpful as it seems to be a family run business and not like some of the newer branded hotels. Breakfast was your basic Irish affair and no real complaints here either.

Cars are roaring by and laying on their horn at pedestrians. Some are slamming on their breaks or even blaring their music. This hotel has good service but when you've been traveling all day and you can't sleep at night because the country has met for a soccer game or something, it's not worth it. Don't spend your money here. Go farther away.

Room was comfortable and well appointed for our two night stay. On the first night, we ate in the restaurant - a practice I usually avoid but it was a long drive from Dublin and many restaurants in the town were closed on a Monday night. My deep fried cod was on the right side of fishiness with just the right amount of batter, My other half's vegetable Indian curry was, reportedly, pretty good too. My 'dessert' was a very moreish Espresso Martini but as I was theoretically here for work I eschewed a second. However, on our final night here, a tour party of, shall we say 'seniors', were populating the reception area and 'enjoying' a singalong with what I'm guessing was a local wedding band. Excruciating noise and made the bar uninhabitable. A pity. Would happily stay here again if I'm in the neighbourhood so long as there are no 'concerts' on !! In the pub, we had dinner at Eric Clapton's table. As might be expected, the staff were very friendly and helpful -- without being stuffy like they can be in some resorts. There is one bathroom between two rooms so you need to be comfortable sharing a bathroom. Breakfast was included in our stay and I am happy to report that everything from full breakfast to Irish porridge was excellent. I would highly suggest staying here while visiting Cong.
