TL/DR Inexpensive but thorough and great service…read more Just had our wills redone after 20 years. We found their service to be prompt, and they guided us throughout the process. The changes to the regulations of wills, representation agreements, and bequests mean that you should seek out a specialist to help you navigate this complex legal field. They even included the registration of the wills ( strongly recommended by our son, the labour lawyer...who told us to use a specialist firm). Meetings were done online, with reviews via pdf. Final signing was fine the vancouver office. Excellent service , wonderful staff and lawyers, and inexpensive as well. Have recommended and will do so for the future! James

She took the time to explain the process and all the BC requirements and idiosyncrasies (SO different than the laws governing such documents in Washington state, where I moved here from. Our US documents didn't translate to BC laws, necessitating the drafting up of new paperwork). Anyhow, Kristen was super patient with me, explaining everything to me, often repeating details (a few times!), and helping refer us to other resources we inquired about. I can't stress how much peace of mind it provides, especially as a parent, to have these documents done - and done correctly. Kristen responded to my emails and calls promptly, and I liked how they offer free notarization to their clients (note: other firms we used all charge for notarizing documents). There is free two-hour parking on 12th, and limited meter parking on Lonsdale. (I never had a problem getting a spot on 12th). Top-notch firm.

There's something about the Yelp review that Scott A. wrote for Jamia. I bookmarked her several…read moreyears ago, thinking I would contact her if a need arose. Jamia is an attorney who specializes in estate planning. Many people, including myself, seem to think estate planning is "optional." As a single parent in his late 40s (midlife crisis) during the COVID pandemic, I finally realized otherwise. Of course, I had no idea what documents I would need and how much it would cost. So, I sent a message from her website. Here things I like about her service: + Jamia responds to inquiries very quickly. I have almost always heard back from her on the same day. + We first spoke on the phone for a little bit. I had a consultation appointment the following week. Both of these were complimentary. + I found it very easy to talk to her and ask her questions. No matter what I do, I always have a lot of questions. She made me feel comfortable asking all my questions. + I spoke with a couple of friends who have worked with estate planning attorneys and learned that her fees are very reasonable. On top of it, she does it for a flat fee, which gives you big peace of mind when working with an attorney. I'm a linear thinker with an investigative personality! On top of it, I hate wasting things, particularly my hard earned money. That said, I usually do a LOT of research before making purchases small or big. When it comes to estate planning, all it took was Scott A.'s review. It's a really short review, and I still don't know why I was sold immediately. I did not check out other attorneys in town at all before contacting Jamia. I'm so glad that I reached out to her. I will update my review once she completes all my documents. Last but not least, I thank Scott A for his review! +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ If you found this review useful, please hit "useful" or "cool." Had a very negative experience dealing with Mike and his legal assistant Catherine. During our…read moreinitial meeting Mike lacked manners and decorum and didn't even finish our meeting (he walked out without even excusing himself or letting me know the meeting was over) before leaving to attend to another customer. At the final meeting I had booked with him he was with another customer during that time (he invited them into his office two minutes before my scheduled meeting) and didn't apologize for inconvenience, tardiness or provide any explanation at the clear double booking. He did not take time to clearly explain billing or the steps of the service I was inquiring about. In our initial meeting he stated he would do something and wrote it down on my receipt then later said he never said he would do that- although I had it in writing that he would. He clearly tells customers what he needs to get their money and assure them that he is working on their behalf but he does not appear to be concerned after you have paid! His legal assistant Catherine was extremely rude in every interaction I had with her over the phone, email and in person. She should not be calling any customers on his behalf because she does not have the skills to speak to customers kindly, with patience or respect. Not that he is much better. If you can get a full sentence out of your mouth before she rudely interrupts you, consider yourself lucky. At one point I asked for a receipt so I could understand my charges and she sent me another customers receipt with their personal and confidential information. At my last appointment it began late and when I asked her about the delay she said because I had rescheduled my appointment a few times before that I deserved to wait. I don't recommend Christ Law at the Central city location if you are looking for a good (or at the least decent) law establishment to represent you. Don't waste your hard earned money with them. Mike and his legal assistant showed me continued lack of respect, professionalism and were not thorough when providing their services. This was very clear in my initial meeting and I should have taken my business elsewhere. Do your research and choose a well reviewed and highly mentioned law firm and at the least make sure they have some manners and know how to keep confidential information confidential. This place is better off named Christ and Clowns because I have only ever seen clowns run an operation like that before. As a company under the service industry they ought to know [and do] better.
