The first time I used their service was back in Jan 2011, when I purchased my home in Delta, BC. At the time I had just moved to Canada from the US. David and his team coordinated between myself, the seller and my bank, and made the conveyance process very simple and easy. Over the years I moved back to the US and sold my house in May 2018 and I used David Watts' services again. Liana and Clinton were a pleasure to work with and I communicated over the email with them. Since I am a non-resident, they helped with the additional steps by coordinating between the buyer and also the CRA. I highly recommend David Watts' services. read more

This is probably the best notary public you will ever meet. David worked extensively with me and my father and my realtor in going through all the reams and reams of legal paperwork involved in purchasing my condo (keep in mind that my dad lives in Montreal, David is here in Vancouver and I was based in Seattle when all this was taking place). David was super prompt in replying to us, and he spoke and communicated in a language we understood, often saying that he believes "simple is best", and to keep things as basic (and thus as reasonably priced) as humanly possible. We SO appreciated that! Our trust in David is so absolute. He has been incredible with my dad and me in (my dad is near 90, btw) and, later, we returned for him to draft up my husband's will and powers of attorney documents. (I'd have liked him to have drafted up mine but he referred me to Westcoast Wills as my situation was more complex than my husband's. I appreciated the referral - Westcoast was wonderful. See my review! But I so like and trust David, I would've preferred him to have drafted my docs as well). My husband's documents were completed promptly and are exactly what we wanted. We returned to have some documents notarized, and Jeremy at this firm did the notarization. Jeremy was so nice and very thorough. read more

David responded promptly to my request and was most helpful. Highly appreciated the quick response and recommend his services.

There was poor communication which led to a misunderstanding. The price I was quoted on the phone was the incorrect price. There was about a 15 minute wait with no apology for being behind (1:30 appointment - there was another person that went ahead of me at 1:31 and I waited until 1:45). I overheard a comment about my large document they were printing - and that David wanted to charge me 50 cents per copy (I had let them know on the phone that the law firm in AB would email it to them and they did not let me know about the price of the copy - they were about to charge me an additional $52 for printing @ 50 cents per page). What annoyed me is that David went on about the cost of toner, the cost of a copier, the cost of paper - I don't need to hear that - I get that they have overhead costs. It's a business. I am giving it 3 stars A-OK - because David was willing to charge me the price that his receptionist quoted over the phone, although he was blaming me for hearing wrong or for asking for the wrong service when he wasn't even on the phone call. He also told me to just courier the document myself instead which was fine. read more

A notary public isn't something that is predominately on one's radar. It's not one of those things that you think in passing, "Oh hey, a notary! I should make mental note of that so when that ONE time every two years that I actually NEED a notary, I'll know where to go!" So a few weeks ago when I was in need a notary, I had absolutely no bearing on where to begin. Enter the Yelpisphere. David had excellent reviews so I thought, why not give it a whirl? Getting anything notarized definitely falls into the category of "things that make you feel like an adult" and therefore, notaries have always seemed like a mysterious, shrouded world that would undoubtably be complicated and time consuming. Not at all the case. I phoned the office and easily snagged an appointment the next day. Did my research and had all my documents in order and was in and out in a mere 15 minutes. Their team is efficient, pleasant & professional and their prices (from snooping other locations around town), totally fair. It was such a painless process that the next time adulthood strikes and i'm in need of a notary - David Watts will definitely be my go to. read more

After a long, drawn out, bumpy road to a real estate purchase paved with mortgage brokers and financial planners who continued to drop the ball on us, spending an hour with David was like a dream. To start, Brandy and Natasha-- who are part of David's team-- were awesome. They were on the ball, their phone calls efficient, their emails were timely, and their patience, unwavering. On this visit, the stakes and the documents were much higher: refinancing, purchasing, property transfer taxes, and on, and on, and on. But David was patient, knowledgeable and thorough. At the end of it all, we finally understood what we were signing, and walked away a lawyer referral for a matter other than wills and real estate AND with some sage landlord advice straight from David himself. read more

David Watts and his team are always a pleasure to work with . As Realtor in Vancouver I am confident all my clients will be taken care of when I send them to David to deal with the conveyancing. I personally have used David and they are always on top of all the in's and outs of the deal and all the other parties involved. Well priced and easy to work with. I have found his website very useful if you are looking for videos and other information on how the process works. Thanks David and Natashia read more

As a resident of California, I ran into some frustration with differences between what the Canadian government was asking for in regards to how to certify photocopies of some of my official documents (birth certificate, passport, etc.) and what Californian public notaries are legally allowed to provide in the way of document copy certification. In fact, when I called a Canadian government official they flat-out said that they would not accept the method of document copy certification that Californian notaries provide. Their only suggestion for a workaround was to see if I could get another acceptable certifier (such as a U.S. Judge or Officer of the Court) to certify photocopies of my documents as being true copies. Makes me wonder what the heck Canadian civil servants are smoking? They actually think I could walk up to a Court and get time from a Judge to do something like this? Unreal! Anyway, in entered David Watts to solve the problem. I found his office through the web, gave them a call, and was quickly transferred to speak to David directly. David was more than willing to have me courier my original and copied documents to him, certify the photocopies, and courier them back to me in the US. As it turned out, I was able to get a Californian notary to bend a little towards Canadian requirements, so I ended up going that route. However, odds are 50-50 my certified document copies will get rejected by some smoking civil servant and I'll be following through on availing myself of David's services. I have no doubt I'll be as satisfied in the future by David's services as I am at present. read more

I am super impressed by David!! Our first point of communication was via my email inquiry, which he replied very promptly (while I was still deciding on which notary to visit based on Yelp reviews) to. Not only was he the only notary to reply on the same day as my inquiry, but he was easy to communicate with and answered all of my questions. When I finally met him at his office, I found him to be extremely pleasant and kind, which instantly put me at ease. He also tried to understand why I required his services (instead of just blindly notarizing my documents) and actually spent time reviewing my documents, made some manual changes, and gave me some very useful legal advice that ended up saving me money (because he said I didn't need my other copies certified by him). I am so truly impressed, and will definitely be bringing my business here whenever I need a notary in the future, as he is an honest and very helpful notary. One thing's for sure with David Watts - the hype is real! Thank you for being such a breeze to work with. One thing for Yelpers - his office doesn't accept credit cards - only debit (and maybe cash?) so come prepared. read more

I chose David Notary while I purchased my first condo in early 2020, and it was all fine in the beginning. However, in the end when I needed some document to apply for the first time home buyer GST rebate, and the person who helped me (I will not write name on here) scanned the copy with a sticky note on it and send it to me, and he told me I just need to send these documents to CRA. After I forward the document to CRA my claim was then denied, because there were other documents that were still missing and of course the sticky note on the document were blocking some important information so was also rejected. I reached out again and he just apologized and sent me the other documents which I should've gotten the first time. Now I have sent over and it is been over a year since I moved in and IAM STILL WAITING for the rebate. I reached out to see if they offer loyalty discount since I did purchase another place and will be built in couple years, he mentioned their firm always offer the excellent service that's why they do not offer loyalty discount. Yes the service is so excellent that a sticky note was left on an important scanned document for the client to send to the CRA.... I then decided to go with another Notary since my was screwed up the first time and I wasn't going to pay full price and take the chance that they might screw it up again. Unfortunately I cannot recommend due to my experience. read more

David is great. His service is fast, he knows exactly what he's doing and his prices are fair. The first time I went to David's office I came with incomplete documents and also was supposed to have another person with me to sign! Oops!...So I ended up wasting 20 minutes of David's time...But he was very good humored about it and just gave me guidance on what I needed to do next. (and he didn't charge me for that appointment) So since I had such a pleasant experience with him the first time, I later returned to notarize more documents and again he and his staff were very friendly, accommodating and efficient. On both cases he did the best to accommodate my busy schedule and fit me in on short notice. The time for processing the papers was extremely quick as well. He's a good stand up guy and he knows his stuff; I would highly recommend him. read more

Quick responses, efficient service and reasonable prices. I selected this notary office after sending out a query via Yelp. Polite and courteous on the phone. Service was quick and efficient as soon as we arrived. Good to know a quality notary location downtown.

With the work that I do, I talk to clients on a daily basis about the importance of having a will. While I suggest and advise all my clients to get a will done, many choose not to, for whatever reasons or delay the process. I was like many of my clients, a new young family in need of a will a couple months ago. Before my son was born I wanted to make sure that this very important document was taken care of. David Watts of David Watts Notary Public helped me and my husband complete our wills with a short timeline for completion. His expertise in this area was clear and the professionalism he showed to us was impeccable. His process for sending out a document ahead of our first meeting to get us to gather information and think about things helped immensely. It was a smooth process right from the get go. David also helped me through a mortgage refinance a couple months ago and that process was also very smooth. By this time I had had Sawyer and getting out of the house was difficult to say the least. There were days I don't remember, but somehow this process was completed with ease and I was very happy with the speed of the process also. I would and do recommend David Watts of David Watts Notary Public to anyone needing to get their will done or mortgage financing or refinancing. Sincerely, A & P. David Watts was my notary when I purchased and sold my first condo years ago. Both transactions went smoothly so when my husband and I needed a notary for the purchase a house, I naturally thought of David. Our recent experience was pretty bad. Firstly we received our home purchase documents in the evening before our appointment to sign the paperwork. The paperwork also had a few glaring errors including the wrong closing date and settlement amounts. Next morning I had to call David about these errors then rush to the bank which opened half hour before our 10am morning appointment. read more

We went to David Watts to draft wills and to transfer property title from a family member to me. Unfortunately, there were glaring errors in the will even after I pointed out the errors to him the first time. He emailed copies of the will to us on the day we were scheduled to go in to sign them, leaving very little time to peruse them. This was done with the first draft and the second draft even after I'd given feedback to provide more time to look over the documents. Regarding the property transfer, things went well, I think. Unfortunately, again, we didn't see the documents until we were in his office. I was not told about the need to bring a bank draft until the day of the appointment because the bill exceeded a certain amount that precluded an Interac transaction. As a result, my husband will need to go back the next day to complete the transaction, a big waste of time. I don't know why he received the Georgia Straight awards, as his service leaves much to be desired. I really wanted to be able to recommend him, but considering our experience, go elsewhere. read more
