THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE PLACES TO BE IN THE WORLD! I'm a HUGE plant nut. I love everything plants, and gardening / landscaping has always been a hobby of mine. They have such variety at amazing prices, and they're local! You just cannot beat that kind of a combination. My only wish is that they would look into expanding their stock of native plants, maybe separate them out as their own interest in the greenhouse. ...Ok, maybe I have two wishes. My second wish is that they would expand on a winter garden concept. There are a lot of plants that provide coverage, color, and interest in winter. It wouldn't be too difficult to put together a few facesheets of plants with positive interaction for such displays, either.

When you want to feel calm and centered and alive, there is nothing like walking (slowly, alone) through a quiet greenhouse. McNamara Florist (at Sand Point and DeForest, just off Bluffton Road) is a truly magical place. Its long-established local roots make all the difference. The location feels downright charming -- FAR removed from the busy, big-box strip mall garden centers -- and the staff members I've talked to are friendly and knowledgeable. I go twice a year: once in the spring, for special annuals, and again toward the end of summer to pick up deals on perennials. If you want to do inexpensive veggies or very low-price annuals, there are cheaper places to do it... but when it comes to flowers I want to see come back year after year, McNamara Florist (and Riverview Native Nursery for plants native to northeast Indiana) is where I go. You can't go wrong. Take an hour out of your day and go alone, if you want to treat yourself. Walk slowly through the indoor tropical area, then outside past the roses, under the trees. It's instant therapy. I love this place.

I will decently be using them again. The women was so nice. And I called about 3:30 and she said she could still have time to deliever the flowers today. Amazing awesome people. The driver was also sweet I heard.

I'm not sure if I did that money-wise, but our wedding flowers were great! Connie was there from start to finish, helping my get closer to my visions and stay within budget. Our first meeting, she was able to soothe my fears about prices and make my concept come to life. The deposit and quote were reasonable. I was able to pay everything by credit card. Another I like about DYI florist is that you only pay for what you use. So if you don't use something, even though you ordered it, they will not change you for it. In addition, htye have many piece of decor that you may rent for your floral designs, which may cut the middle man in the process of ordering from a local party rental supplier AND a florist. When my concept was getting too over our heads, Connie was able to come up with a great idea that incorporated her decor piece she had inhouse. She did not charge me a lot for the rentals, even though it was not in the plans to us them. AND even when I found one of her vases broken at the end of the night, she did not charge me a hundred dollars to replace it; even though I know it was more than likely more than what I paid to replace it. I was so thankful for that. My flower party was fun! That's when you and your wedding party go into the warehouse and make your flowers arrangements/centerpiece from the flowers you ordered. Everything was ready for me when me and my mentor got there. Connie was super helpful and Jerry, her husband and co-owner, did a great job on corsages. They even threw in a free toss bouquet! My bridal bouquet was prefect! Connie was able to help me put in my brooches for some bling. My flowers lasted for a week after; just make sure they are in water! What I know for sure what my experience with the DYI florist was heavenly. They really took care of me and made sure I was happy. I know any bride would like this place. I also know I saved money at the end of the day not going with a design florist and doing things DYI. Plus, I supported a great business. Brides, it is definitely worth an consult! ** Note, they are located in the same building as Sherman Williams; they are next door. It's a baby blue building.

It has a giant walk in refrigerator (which makes sense for a flower distributor). The owner greeted us and let us look around. They appear to offer a variety of flower planning services, including do-it-yourself arranging, which is a neat concept. She helped us select a dozen red roses and promptly wrapped them up, for $20 (pretty good for long stems in my opinion). A few days later we called and ordered a funeral arrangement that was shown on their website. They were very kind and helpful in making some changes to the arrangement to fit our needs. Their delivery was ON TIME to the funeral home and it turned out just beautiful and we were so happy. I'd definitely give them a try again.
