I hoped on Yelp to find an HVAC company with great reviews and after looking at a few, I decided to try Cape Fear. I called their after hours number and was immediately taken care of. The representative took my info and had Mike call me. Mike called me in less than 10 minutes and agreed to come out. He arrived about 30 minutes after we hung up, he located the problem, told us he could fix it and told us the cost. We agreed to the cost and Mike went to work. Our A/C was fixed and running in about 2 hours from the time I made the call. There was an after hours service fee and the cost of parts, but it wasn't expensive and I'm very frugal The only negative comment is that I see they offer military discounts, but we were not offered one. Instead, Mrs. Laney and Mrs. Caroline were both extremely disrespectful and had terrible attitudes from the moment they answered the phone. As a customer, I wasn't argumentative--I was simply trying to understand a billing issue. Rather than listening or attempting to help, they were dismissive, rude, and made me feel like my questions were an inconvenience. Customer service starts with the first person who answers the phone, and unfortunately, this interaction reflected very poorly on the company. I hope management addresses how customers are treated because no one should be spoken to with disrespect for asking a simple billing question and shouldn't feel like they are annoying them by any questions it's the job they are getting paid for. I was so disappointed and after reading reviews I actually drove 30 minutes to talk to someone over them and when I walked in all I said was "hey how are you doing is there anyone that I can talk to over the establishment" and I was greeted by a older dark hair lady that would not give me her name or anyone else's that I could talk to after I told her what it was about. They did all this for us while consulting with my mother and sister because my husband and I were unreachable! Most recently my ac stopped working. They were the only one of the three companies who replied - responsiveness gold medal unlocked. The other two were Yelp Guaranteed and Bell Cow wasn't, but when someone actually answers you, that goes a long way. They came out for a free estimate, showed up on time, and the quote was very reasonable. Communication was smooth, and on installation day the techs were polite and efficient (I wasn't home, but my wife handled the appointment and had zero complaints there). Now, the install works, both hot and cold function exactly as intended, but cosmetically it missed the mark. The spigot doesn't sit flush and the pipes are slightly crooked. Not a deal-breaking safety issue, just one of those things where you look at it and think, "Hmm... that could've been cleaner." Functional, but visually not their strongest performance. Overall, Bell Cow is responsive, friendly, and competitively priced. I appreciate the quick communication and solid operation of the spigot. I just wish the attention to detail on the install matched the quality of their customer service. I'd use them again for straightforward work, but if aesthetics matter, I might get a second quote.
