I called multiple places looking for someone to tow my car. I needed a wheel lift and a dolly, not just a flatbed truck. A few towing companies via Triple A had already tried and failed towing my car but McLaughlin Towing from the moment they picked up the phone to the time my car was back home were super nice and professional. They not only gave the best price out of all the places I called in our area, but they were also the most helpful and easy to work with. On top of all this, our Tow Truck Driver, Ray K. went above and beyond to get my car safely to its destination. They are top notch and I would work with them again in a heartbeat...A+++ read more

The worst towing company they pick up my car they damage it. They don't have insurance. This business should go done. I'm going take them court . Don't use these people. And they tell you one price and they charge you more if you don't pay, they don't release your car read more

Look, no one likes their cars towed, but I think how you handle the situation matters. I read their reviews after my wife told me the car got towed while she was at a show. She's Hispanic and was with her mother and sister for a show in Danbury. After reading the reviews I had a vastly different opinion than I do now. I told her I would drive up there so I could handle the situation, just-in-case. Here's what I found out: On the phone they were very pleasant. Seriously. Talk to them like adults, don't blame them for what you did, and you'll be fine. The driver met us at the lot about 5 minutes after we got there. There were two of them, both younger. Also very nice. I told them I had two friends who used to do the same job and loved it, they told me some stories about their job, I paid the fee GOT A RECEIPT, which many of you claim, you never got, and got my car. ZERO scratches on my 2022 Kona. It was NOT broken into. NOTHING was missing. The fee was $190, cash. The bottom line is parking mistakes happen, but don't compound YOUR mistake giving them attitude. As for the racist thing: I don't buy it. My wife, her sister, and mother were all with me when I went, they're all Hispanic, and there was nothing racist at all said. They also weren't insulting in any way. Again, treat them like you would like to be treated. read more

This company needs to be investigated by the State Of Connecticut. They are known for predatory towing practices. They accept cash only and conveniently do not have change on their person. They tacked on additional fees which has already been ruled on through case law in CT. They are an absolute scam. I would be cautious to hire this company to enforce private property....lawsuits would be inevitable. read more

This is a total racquet. Cash only, in business with the restaurant that they tow from. We were legally parked in handicap parking and were towed with zero way to get back home (1 hour away) and had NO choice but to pay their insane fee of $140 to tow my car .5 miles. When we called to get it no one answered, even though they were sitting in the lot. Completely illegal but Danbury police did nothing. This is the biggest racquet on earth. I guarantee they don't report correct income in a cash only business. Shame on Danbury police, McLaughlin towing and La Canchita restaurant. You all work together to illegally charge people. read more

This place would get a zero if it was possible. CAUTION! Do not use! This is the most unprofessional towing company. They not only damaged our vehicle, which was acknowledged at the time of the tow (with an attempt to fix), but then they denied the damage when we followed up. The individual I spoke to on the phone was disgusting; he was rude, dismissive, and literally laughed at us. Another reviewer called them "predatory" and that they should be investigated which is entirely accurate. read more

The worst company i have ever dealt with. Unprofessional, rude, complete scammers. Horrible communication and service to their customers. I have never had a worst experience than dealing with these people. I have no idea how they're in business. Literally a danger to the community. They're not there to do a service, they're there to take advantage scam you. I would give 0 stars if i could. Do yourself a favor and don't even bother supporting this business. They're lot after hours is in the middle of no where and make sure you have cash because they won't accept anything else even more of a scam. Disgusted with these people. Had to call the police when they were trying to illegally tow me! Second time dealing with them in my complex, the driver was at least humble about the situation and just doing his job but the owner? Ha! If rudeness had a name I'm sure that would be his! He even got loud with one of the officers and I'm so glad he was put in his place! I understand tow companies have a job but when you make a sucky situation even worst that's just you being jerks. read more

Great service and very professional. I have only but great things to say about their tow truck drivers. They also have some great mechanics and have saved me money and help me out time and time again. I noticed that all the bad reviews come from people that were parking where they shouldn't have. If you need a tow and repairs in the Danbury area they are one of the best places to deal with, I highly recommend them. read more

illegally towed out of state car. police involved . scam. horrendous and liars . sad that they do this to people simply eating dinner . also high while towing read more

Very rude & unprofessional. After an overpriced tow, the company took no responsibility for scratches on my car. I learned later they are known for being dishonest crooks, and not very liked in the community. read more

Bunch of scam artists... they don't even deserve a star. How they tow someone at a paid meter is beyond me.

Five male employees chastised a female customer for a political button she was wearing on her jacket -- the notion of customer service is officially DEAD at this towing company and I recommend staying as far away from this business as physically possible. An option of negative stars should be created for this company and I truly hope the owner sees this review as soon as possible. read more

Disgusting people. My car was towed 20 minutes after my permit had expired. I was told I had to pick up my car immediately or the charge would be $150 with an additional $200. I explained how I was on my way to work and I needed to pick it up by 5. I was completely dismissed and told to figure it out myself. When I came to get my car I was told to walk across the street and wait for my car to be unlocked from the gate. I waited 20 minutes for the man to walk over. I've never been treated in such a degrading way. These people LIVE to tow your car and raise the price every chance they get. Not to mention during a pandemic, it truly sickened me. read more

These guys are amazing! I lucked out in finding them because my car got towed there due to my starter being inoperable and I have been using them ever since. They are so helpful and always keep me in the know about the repairs I am receiving. They go above and beyond!! I am grateful to finally find a mechanic I trust. I would highly recommend this whole crew. read more

Mike just wanted to understand why $50 more the usual rate of $150.00. None of the reasons given before you cursed me out and hung up were valid. Just looking for a good reason or $50 a refund. I guess customer service is not your strong suite so you may want to staff off the phones. read more

Absolute scam. Left my car for 15 seconds and already had one of these scumbags pulling their tow truck behind my car to start towing it. Complete scum shouldn't even be in business. Watch out on Main Street in Danbury, CT for these con artists! Stole my money! read more

This is my sister Christine. She has Down syndrome, Alzheimer's and is in a wheelchair. Today we brought her to the ice rink to show her the ice skaters. My brother transports her in his van. It can't fit in the garage. He parked in this lot that is clearly empty on a Sunday afternoon. This is Mclaughlin Towing Recovery 203-790-6362 towing the van. We explained the situation to the gentleman who called the owner. The owner said we had to pay $100 cash to get the van back. This is a picture of my 80 year old father trying to calm my sister down in the rain. I understand this towing company has a job to do but what has happened to compassion and doing the right thing? read more

McLaughlin Towing & Recovery - Towing Near Me

Insanely rude. Threatened me and made me feel like I was very unimportant. When I went to pick my car up I called, after a lot of grief and about 45-hour later they showed up. Refused to let me leave after I got in my car to get money to pay them... Locked me in the gated lot. I had to call the cops to get out and pay to leave with my car. When I left, one of their tow trucks followed me all the way to Ridgefield before I was able to lose them. Basically they held me captive and then stocked me. They honesty made me feel more scared and at risk of being hurt than I have ever felt. read more

Complete dirt bags. Do not use these people. Rented a UHAUL van for a move during the pandemic. Lobby was closed naturally. The person who came out to assist me mumbled instructions and was completely rude. Left us standing outside while 4 other goons were digging a hole and also ignoring us. The owner rolled up on a golf cart asking if we needed help, we said yes and he proceeded to do nothing. They all walked past us 3 times and continued to ignore us. We cancelled and went somewhere else. Absolute animals. read more

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THIS POOR EXCUSE FOR A BUSINESS. TOTAL SCAM ARTISTS. Towed my daughter's car for parking in a private lot - okay, no problem, she was wrong. They not only towed her car, but they broke into it, stole cash and CD's. Denied everything but the ignorant employee forgot to move the seat back to its position - not too smart. Tow truck driver was so completely unprofessional and rude - poor education by his conversation. If this is a family business, then apparently the apple did not fall far from the tree if this type of behavior is acceptable and from the hundreds of other reviews online, it seems to be that way. read more

Only one star and that goes to Chad who was the only shining star in this company. After a horrific experience with renting a uhaul cargo van for a move and miscommunication between U-haul and McLaughlin ofnot letting me know that I would be charged $200.00 to open up the vehicle. After Chad popped it in 5 minutes he asked me for $200.00. The apparent "normal" fee is $150.00 but the "boss" told him to charge me more-???? My husband called to complain and wanted an answer as to why he charged me $50 more than regular- the owner told him "I can charge anyone whatever I want, there are no laws in CT" and also called my husband a Fing A- (you all know what I mean). Stay far away- Chad your too good for them! read more

These guys are great, fast tows, respectable drivers. Will definitely use again and recommend

Not only these jerkoffs break in, into my car to tow it. But they also made me pay cash and did not provide a receipt. Ohh and the guys are complete asswipes even when you are nice to them. Don't use them for anything. Call someone else when you need a tow read more

I'm very impressed with this company. They are professional, courteous and trustworthy. I called them for a tow late on a Saturday night. The owner showed up quickly and got my car home without any stress. I highly recommend this company. read more

Watch out at Danbury ice arena! I (it's my fault) left my car at 3 PM a restaurant parking lot across the street and ran across to the ice arena for less than one minute and when I came out they had started the towing process. He just put a bar under my car and immediately asked me for $105. He admittedly says he was waiting for me an k leave my car. Preying on people down there.: of course I don't carry that kind of cash on me.. so he just took anything I had, likely pocketed it. There was also a girl across the street cheering him on as if this was a game.. used them to rent a uhaul before and it was a good experience but no more after that. I don't know what kind of business they are running read more

This is a disgrace of a business. Broke into my friends car when she had permission to be parked in the spot she was parked in. Car was not even on the lift, and they refused to let her move it. Drove away and laughed at her. The place was closed the next day and they tried to charge her for holding her car for two days even though she had no way to retrieve it on Sunday. The people who work here are extremely rude and unprofessional. If I could give them negative stars I would. These guys need a life. read more

Although the nature of this business does not usually have positive reviews, I am writing because the operator of the tow truck company is menacing, stalking and predatory with their practices. They supposedly were hired by the board of my condo complex and regularly drive through "looking" for ways to fill their pockets. They do not come when called or when a complaint is made. They make it a common practice to drive around towing cars that are parked in an area they deem to be unlawful. They tow cars that are temporarily parked in areas that have not one "No parking" sign, plus not one community member had complained about the parking. They just stroll through looking for people to take advantage of. They recently attempted to tow a car outside my garage that was there for a short period of time. Again, no complaint was made but the driver said that he "watched" the car from a distance and saw that it was parked for too long, so he decided to start the towing process. He put the car on the hook a refused to put it down without a payment of $110 in CASH! Again there were no No parking signs around and the driver and owner/manager of this company is extremely rude and dismissive. My condo board should also be ashamed of themselves for hiring such a predatory agency and never informed me or my landlord that this could happen within the community. read more

This is the only place I my car. The work is good, the price is fair, and they always are on point. Any friends I have directed to them, have thanked me and used them again. That speaks for itself. Wouldn't trust anyone else. read more

I parked in a lot on a Saturday night. A sign on the lot says no parking during business hours. They impounded my car. After business hours. The driver extorted $200 out of me and refused to give me a receipt. Probably so I can't go after them without a paper trail. Just to let the public know McLaughlin Towing is in the business of predatory towing. read more

My experience with this company was completely horrible. My car was towed on 11/25/17. I was at fault for parking at an apartment complex parking lot because I wasn't aware of the no parking sign. I arrived to the parking lot as they were getting ready to tow my car. Steven was the guy who towed my car and he claimed it was too late for me to move my car. Steven was absolutely unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable due to his aggressive way to answer my questions. I asked to pay for the towing right then and there and he claimed he had to take my car to the yard and I would have to pay there. I knew where my car was being towed to because I asked for a card rather than him giving me a card. Once I got to the yard, he started yelling telling me to stop as I wasn't allowed to be in the yard. When I asked him how much it was he said it was $175 plus tax and CASH ONLY. I was not given a receipt for my payment nor was I given change. A company that claims to do business as CASH ONLY is obviously a company not to trust because they can get away from reporting less income to the IRS. This is obviously a scam that they have going on by abusing in charging people unreasonably. If I ever need a tow, I will NEVER do business with McLaughlin and I will ABSOLUTELY not recommend them. read more
