Please advocate for your child. They have policies that suit the district only. Not your child or mental health. Based off of experience.

WOW! What a breath of fresh air to children's education!! Imagine is a new Charter school located…read morein McKinney, Texas. I have a 1st & 8th grader that attend and they are incredibly happy here! It is uniform based which is drama free for me and surprisingly my children don't mind. I could go on and on about how great this school has been for my children so far but I will limit it to the top 5 things I LOVE: 1. that my elementary age child can attend the same school as my middle school age child; he walks her in, out and overall he can look out for her. 2. EVERYONE I have spoken to from my correspondence with the teachers to the director and the carpool helpers are extremely kind. This is particularly important to me because I am a firm believer of treat those as you would like to be treated and I feel this builds character and teaches my children to do the same. In addition, there is nothing worse than a child soured by a subject because a teacher is burned out and hateful. 3. Really cool clubs for everyone even my first grader - cheer, robotics, basketball, band, orchestra, chess etc. 4. Communication is great! My child's teacher responds so quickly with any of my questions big or small. 5. The IB programe is outstanding and I am thrilled and amazed that my children will receive 20 college credits once they graduate. Oh yea..did I mention it's tuition FREE. They just opened this year so like any new school they did have some bumps in the beginning. They don't have a café but my son actually likes that they can eat with friends in a large room, classroom or hallway. They are also given the opportunity to go outside at lunch which my son STILL talks about. The library wasn't set up but they are putting it together nicely. The carpool was complicated in the beginning and I heard complaints from others about this but let me just say that they communicated every day they were aware of issues and were working to make it better. As a Director of a preschool myself, let me just say that my children actually feel like they are a part of the school not just a number . They come home at the end of the day very happy and that's what's important to me!

My daughter spent a year and a half here and I feel we made the best with what they had to offer. Unfortunately, she was recently asked to not return within 2 months of her LP or "high school" graduation, with no notice, because she challenged the owners and the failings of their educational program. She has been increasingly worried about the progress of the other learners and that the guides were not given the resources or authority to even provide a safe environment (kids throwing scissors!) much less a stable platform for education. Guides at this location do not understand what boundaries or limits they are allowed to set for the learners, as the partner owners of the school have vastly different views on how the school should be run. Future candidates beware. The sales pitch is solid, and I still believe in the Acton philosophy- but this location is dysfunctional.
