McKendell Design is wonderful for those of us who are 'design compromised' - people who have the words and a vague idea of what we want, but we can't design something ourselves because we lack the ability to translate words to something visual. Lawrence is the guy you want to meet to translate your idea in to something beautiful. Lawrence was able to speak to me for just under an hour and grasp exactly what I was looking to communicate. I was expecting a few back and forth sessions with a designer, but Lawrence got it immediately and designed a beautiful layout that represents me and my business. I definitely recommend McKendell Design for people looking for design to represent their business, but are also looking for a smooth and easy process without a ton of back and forth to finally get across your vision. Thank you Lawrence for a great design and a wonderful experience! read more

Lawrence McKendell is talented and insightful, and helped us develop our new logo, stationery, and business cards. Speaking of business cards, they're a big hit. Never in my life have I heard so much positive feedback when exchanging information; we often hear things like, "Wow, great card!", or "I really like your logo." Clearly, these accolades are the sign of a job well done. It was a pleasure to work with Lawrence, and he offered patient guidance as we went through the process of creating our new identity. You can see the final result at http://www.coare.org/ . (Mind you, our current website is simple and not his doing, so the logo is the strongest feature of the page. Perhaps a web overhaul will be the next thing we ask of him.) read more

Lawrence McKendell created the posters for a collaborative project between my library and a local transit agency. Because of McKendell's excellent sense of design, we now have beautiful graphics to convey the library's new cutting edge service. McKendell is very good at communicating with you to make sure that everything is perfect and to your liking. He provides great input to give the design that extra something. The Library is very proud to display McKendell's work and is already considering him for another project. read more

You know how when you have an idea in your head but it isn't really visual. Explaining it to someone who can translate your concept into images is really important, especially if it's to promote your work. Lawrence is a master at this. He's come up with designs that were so much more than I'd imagined. In addition, he's very open-minded and will happily make changes if the design doesn't feel right to you. read more

I had Lawrence work on a graphic for a team uniform and he helped create what I want, and teach me a trick or two about Illustrator in the process. He has great design capacity and skill, good speed and attention to detail. Very good at following my incredibly anal specifications and particular aesthetic concerns and goals. read more

Too many people out there call themselves "Graphic Designers" and don't measure up to the qualities and creativeness that a true Graphic Designer should posses. Lawrence is a knowledgeable and creative thinker who brings ideas and a true eye for design to the table. Working with Lawrence on several print jobs I have been nothing but impressed with his creativity and attention to detail. I highly recommend him for design work for company logo's, branding, events, and marketing collateral for any business or organization looking to improve and/or update it's image and visibility! read more

Lawrence was a very unprofessional person to work with for the development of my first website. I didn't have an acceptable website when he billed me for the balance. There was no discussion for months about the site and the changes i wanted him to make. Last month i had to hire another web designer who is very talented and transparent to start over with a new updated theme. The estimate Lawrence sent me was very vague with few details of what he would do and a time frame. There was no incentive for him to be accountable to me. I feel taken advantage of because of my lack of knowledge. Several people I showed it to said he probably used a high school student to make the site. i asked him to make changes to the content, fonts, photos and other aspects of the site. He turned out to be very unresponsive. I even hired someone else to check the website and suggest changes. After working with the new designer, we found out that the email for the website was parked on a platform called enom. i never knew about that and don't have the username of password for the site. i had to pay for a new email and have to change my business card (fyi, the card was done well.) I asked him if he could make the changes within 48 hours. He was unpredictable so I finally asked him for the login info to make the changes myself. Lawrence was very unpredictable and made the experience very frustrating and costly for me. read more

Lawrence was recommended to me by a colleague. I was looking for a graphic designer to help create our coalition's logo. Lawrence went above and beyond in terms of the amount of time, energy and love he put into creating our logo. He always wanted to know what I thought of the designs, and sent various iterations of the design in order to narrow it down to the perfect one. I am so appreciative of his efforts and open communication throughout the process. We are very fortunate to have worked with him. Our logo is gorgeous! read more

As a renewable energy research and development firm, I needed someone who understood how to package and communicate scientific and engineering concepts with data into a highly organized and efficient way to get funding for our fundamental research. Nervous about working with anyone, Lawrence had great references and quickly accepted our challenge drawing on his experience and background to help make our investor presentations successful. Over the 8 years since we began Marine Power Products, he has consistently responded to our every need by providing creative and conceptual development which has continually attracted financing. Thanks again Lawrence! read more

I had the pleasure to meet with Lawrence for a business consult and I was impressed to understand the breadth of his work, which includes web & graphic design, and continues into business planning, marketing strategy & sales. I manage vacation rental properties and I can say with confidence that Lawrence introduced several innovative business ideas into my plan. I am excited to get down to work on those ideas and they will, of course, take time to come to fruition. However, within 30 minutes, Lawrence introduced me to a world of essential business startup concepts of which I did not understand as well as I may have thought. Given Lawrence's firm grasp of marketing, advertising, and business networking & communications, he was able to help me immediately even without knowing all of the particulars of my vacation properties. He asked sharp questions and often anticipated my answers before following up with fresh & original ideas that I had never thought of. He helped me to connect the dots and I would imagine working with Lawrence on fundamental logo design and even in building a solid business plan would be extremely rewarding given that Lawrence is inquisitive, questions all assumptions and challenges you to bring a convincing story, message and product (or service) to your target audience. I am glad to have gotten a consultation and an indepth page of notes as a result. In the process of putting these ideas into action, I am sure I will be calling on Lawrence for his expertise once again. read more
