The visit actually started off fine we saw the MA, saw the doctor, and were told they were putting us in and to wait to be called back for labs. After watching three patients go ahead of us and waiting about 40 minutes, we decided to double check our check in. Turns out we weren't even in the system correctly and had somehow been labeled as a completely different patient. Then two MAs then pulled us from the waiting room and took us back to an exam room. One of them rushed in saying, "I'll just draw you myself! you came in for a TB test, right? Okay, I'll be right back!" She never came back... Instead, we sat there even longer while overhearing them in the back office saying things like, "I have no clue where my doctor is." At that point, my husband went to the front desk because we had already been there nearly two hours for what should've been a simple lab draw. That's when we were finally told: "Oh yeah... so your labs need to be sent off, and we already did our last pickup before lunch, so we can't do them till Tuesday." So after almost two hours of waiting, confusion, and being mislabeled in the system, we left without even getting the test done. Both my husband and I are in the medical field, and I understand that healthcare gets busy and things happen. But the lack of communication and organization here was honestly unbelievable, especially in such a small office. A situation like this could've been communicated to us much earlier and saved everyone a lot of wasted time.

I had an appointment last week and informed the provider that this is a problem I've had a lot and told her what usually fixed it and what I needed. The medical assistant is really a problem. I called for a refill, got a medical assistant who wasn't on-site but forwarded the message to the Mescal medical assistant. She replied with this completely unresponsive message: "I wanted to inform you that we have received a mychart message that you are requesting a refill on cephalexin (KEFLEX) 500 mg capsule. Is there any reason that you are requesting a refill for this medication?" (I HAD EXPLAINED IN DETAIL WHY IN MY REQUEST. NOT LISTENING!) "Please It us know if there is anything else we can do for you." (THIS IS JUST AN INSULT. THEY KNOW PERFECTLY WELL WHAT WAS WRONG AND WHAT THEY COULD DO FOR ME. WHAT A HORRIBLE THING TO SAY TO A PATIENT WHO HAS BEEN BEGGING FOR A REFILL.) That seems to be the philosophy here, based on my own experience. They give you the very bare minimum and I'm not talking about narcotics but antibiotics that cannot be abused. You can see how horrible this place is by this Yelp page. If you ask around the valley, you'll likely find that many physicians select Mayo for their care, and I think that speaks highly of both the medical knowledge and the professionalism of this group. Dr. Patchett is one of those old-school PCPs who spend time with their patients; I've never felt rushed during my visits with him. He also has an additional appointment with the Department of Integrative Medicine and focuses a lot on nutrition and exercise, which is great for preventing disease before it begins. If you have any sort of musculoskeletal pain as well, he practices osteopathic medicine and does manipulations, which my layperson husband described to me as "massage stretching." If you're looking for a new primary care physician and want to focus on wellness, definitely try to get in with Dr. Patchett!
