From the beginning, my counselor(?) was methodical and judgmental. With almost no knowledge of my…read morehistory, and despite the fact that I'd never needed them before, she 'suggested' I start on meds. She also had a 'progress checklist' with overly-general questions, the answer to which can vary widely based on various contexts, to make answering (without context) irrelevant. In short it 'pretends' to show 'progress', and in questioning her about it, it became clear that me being on meds, and filling out this form every session were essential- and it was suggested I 'find some other resource' (or some such) if I had a problem with it. Not going into my own needs- but as a general policy, this is pretty tone-deaf (if you want to actually help patients). My second session was my last, as while telling her about my concerns, she interrupted to go bring up the all-important checklist again. I looked at her like she was crazy, because 'what are we here for, if not for me?'- but I was oh, so wrong. my presence and progress was secondary to the 'metrics' that 'prove' 'what a good job they are doing' (despite not actually listening to me). To add insult to injury, when I let her work on the list with me (I didn't have my reading glasses), she asked me questions about my state of mind, etc. I'd literally just gone over! She wasn't even listening! In another moment (while explaining some mistreatment I'd encountered) I used the word 'a$$hole'- and she interrupted me to demand I 'watch my language'.. yes, if there's one thing aggrieved people need, it's to be controlled while honestly expressing themselves while suffering. But wait, it gets better! So I leave, talk to the receptionists at length, try to get some issues, complaint, etc. sorted out. They were super helpful, and directed me to a guy who seemed concerned, and mentioned getting me someone else. I hadn't thought of it- but, yeah- that might be a thing, though for the life of me allowing that woman to affect other people with her 'barely attentive' judgement seemed to me like a bigger concern, but 'what do I know?' Days later, I get a letter from an actual MD. He's apparently been sold on a bunch untrue/barely related of stuff that woman told him, and thinks I refused to do things I never refused, and that I had to fill out the forms and watch my language (as if I cursed like a sailor) because it 'makes them uncomfortable'. Is it just me, or are some people in the wrong jobs? As a nurse would you chastise someone for 'bleeding everywhere'? Apparently, this is a place where 'paperwork is king', and 'judgements about people without evidence' is everyday. If your issues are minimal, maybe you won't care/notice. If you really need help, and people who actually listen, and will do their best on your behalf?... This seems the wrong place for that. The receptionist there were awesome. Everyone else seemed to care about their 'rules', or their paperwork to an inconsiderate degree. Oh, and 'first things first- lets get you on meds' I guess? I left a message with the guy who 'believed what he was told', and maybe he'll contact me with something more 'considerate of my situation' (or even acknowledging I have one)... but I posted this just so people know what to be wary of; 1. Bullshit paperwork to 'track your progress'- despite not even discussing anything with you. 2. A controlling environment where you really can't 'slip up' even if emotionally distraught or stressed, etc. 3. Probably meds. I was threatened with the cessation of sessions if I didn't start- despite the fact I'd never needed them before, weren't comfortable about side-effects- concerns which fell on deaf ears. I wasn't refusing- they may help.. but 'do what I say or else' on the first session is a bit much... 4. Not listening to you. I doubt everyone here does this- but if you have a trauma or disorder at conflict with their 'rules', you're screwed. Hell, according to their policy, Tourette's Syndrome patients are unwelcome there if they spontaneously swear at times. 'Too bad for you, but we don't want to feel 'uncomfortable'...' I'm no expert- but it seems to me like patients are 'just money' to them, and depending on why you need help, their 'style' might not suit you- or at least you'll know what to look for in advance (before they explain it away). So- you are informed. This is my 'in progress' (at this time) experience. Hopefully (in the future) they stop being so rigid as to treat people who have problems as if they were the problem. In the meantime, I regret going there for help. The wait period and paperwork were excessive even to get in- and now I'm more stressed and distraught than before-- not so for myself alone, but wondering 'what the heck they are doing' to others if they treated me the way they have so casually? Anyway, to all of you seeking _proper_ help with life's problems? 'Good Luck' to you wherever you go- but this place... I don't know. Your choice. Take care.

I've been to a few of Lissa's classes, and they're always fantastic. I tend to drop into yoga…read moreclasses vs subscribing to any one studio, so I've taken classes with multiple instructors around Syracuse. Lissa and Thrive In Healing/The Syracuse Yoga Collective are among my favorites. I know that whenever I attend, I'm in for an easy, relaxing, rejuvenating flow. The energy is always good and the mood is always welcoming. I recently enjoyed a candlelight rooftop yoga session on a downtown rooftop on a particularly warm night in October (what a treat!) and it was so restoring and full of community and self-love. Plus, fun - there was a DJ! Lissa tends to end her lessons with a sound bath, which adds an extra element. Looking forward to even more experiences!

Lisa is amazing with leading the way in amazing yoga sessions. Her voice is soothing & the studio is always filled with so much positive vibes that the feeling of the class ending is something I don't want to happen! The stretches incorporated has helped bring ease to my mind body and soul! I would recommend over and over again!!! I appreciate this amazing experience.
