Frank M. Moody Plumbing & Heating Co.

You will not find a better plumber in the South Shore. Don't bother looking…read more Frank Moody has done work in my home 3 times in the past few years and I am very impressed with his work and his work ethic. He is an expert plumbing and heating contractor and in addition, he is an honorable man. He simply does not give up on even the most insurmountable problems. I would never call any other plumbing contractor now that I have dealt with him and I really hope that he doesn't retire while I'm still a homeowner. The first time I called him was for an emergency in 2019 when there was a flood on my 4 season porch room. The entire heating zone froze and burst the pipes and radiators. He came with a helper and replaced the damaged baseboard radiators quickly and efficiently and installed a much better and more effective product than the one that froze. The porch room has been warm and comfortable all year ever since... at least until recently when the boiler itself began to fail. This year Frank replaced my water heater with a higher quality brand when the 10 year old unit that I had began leaking. The work was done quickly and neatly and he charged a fair price. While he was here replacing the water heater I asked him to take a look at my boiler which had also been giving me problems. It was running almost continuously yet all the radiators in the house were barely getting warm. The boiler is a discontinued Burnham "condensate" type boiler that I got in 2001 through Mass Save and I guess it was discontinued for good reason. Frank warned me that there was almost no chance of getting parts for that model boiler. Burnham had apparently washed their hands of it years ago. It was very possible that, if it failed that it would have to be completely replaced with a new boiler (a 3 day job that would cost an arm and two legs) To bring this review to a conclusion.. over the course of the next couple of weeks, Frank did quite a bit of work while off the clock to track down the necessary parts to fix my problem; eventually locating a pump in California and having it shipped here. He had to actually cut out the old pump because it was totally rusted in place and somehow managed to put in the new one. We thought the problem was solved, but there turned out to be electrical issues with the circuitry on the "mother board" (who knew that boilers had mother boards?? ) Frank returned when I told him that the system was still not right and he spent 4 hours (which he did not charge me for) and he found the short circuit and repaired it. Now for the first time since last winter, my house is nice and warm again.

Recently Frank was hired to replace an oil fired steam boiler due to failure of a previous one at…read moremy elderly grandmothers home. Frank took the job on immediately and was exceedingly helpful and professional. He assisted in swapping over to natural gas while navigating permits and dealing with the gas company. We ended up with a new gas steam boiler and gas water heater. His work speaks for itself. The installation was clean and done correctly. He was prompt with timing and even worked weekends to get the job done. We could not recommend Frank any higher for quality work at a fair price.

Luckily , we noticed it and were able to keep the water out . We knew we had to have a drain company check it out . We chose a local company Boston Drain in Dorchester and were lucky we did . They were very responsive and came out the same day . Kyle and Chris came and tried to snake the drain with no luck . They also put a camera into the drain to help diagnose the problem . Eventually, we chose to replace the dry well with a better system that had been put in previously . Chris came and explained the process , gave his recommendations and then gave us a very fair price . They were able to start the following Monday , The crew came early , worked very hard and completed the job in one day . They left our property clean and neat with very little disruption to the back yard . We've had some rain since the job was completed and the drain seems to be working great . They also have significant warranties on their products and work . I would definitely recommend their company .
