All the guys helping us get on our horses were friendly and informative. $40 per person cash only for 1hr. And don't forget to tip your guide. Ours did an amazing job. Levi was our guide that day and he was great! He gave wonderful direction, kept us all together and a good steady pace. If you are a beginner don't worry! You can do this. A young boy was on a horse by himself and he did great and they kept him at the front with the guide. Their horses are well kept, calm, and well trained. This isn't a fast moving horseback ride. You are going up a beautiful trail, that can be steep at certain parts. But don't worry, your guide will stop to let you know about each section and how to prepare for it. For example whether you need to lean back or front, move your legs up to not get scratched by rocks, and more. It made our experience safe and comfortable. These horses are amazing and know the trail. Levi even took pictures for each family at the top. They are amazing! I really loved my horse Cheyenne and trusted her. She was beautiful, sweet and loved snacking here and there on our way up the trail during our stops. Very sweet! Even Levi mentioned that he would trust his 3 year old around any of the horses. I could have added 100 more gorgeous photos than the many I already posted. The setting for the Ranch is very beautiful. You are surrounded by stunning National Forest. Trail rides take you to breath-taking views of vistas, mountains, through forests, flowering meadows, on and on. This is a great place to have a get-away alone because the staff actively socializes with the guests, everyone eats at group tables so you don't eat alone, you take trail rides, fishing trips, etc. with guides so you never feel lonely. If you want to be by yourself, you can take a walk or hike or hang out on your balcony. If you bring kids--they have "kid wranglers" who keep the little ones busy and supervised. Older kids can go on trail rides without you with watchful wranglers, there is even an overnight where younger kids have a "late over" up the mountain (then come back to their cabin to sleep), and teenagers have an overnight camping trip without parents. All meals are included, you only pay for alcohol. Trail rides are included. Many fishing trips can be arranged which are totally guided and all equipment is provided. I fly fished for my first time up a trail that was about a 30 minute drive and 45 minute hike up to a mountain lake where there was only one other person and it was stunning! Families and groups were there who go year after year. The staff is extremely warm and friendly. They work hard to make sure everyone has a good time and gets the vacation they want--be it family bonding, horseback riding, fishing, enjoying nature, etc. They had masseuses come in one day and I had a massage in the side room of the chapel. The chapel is so beautiful, this would be a mind-blowing wedding destination. I flew to a nearby airport and arranged to have the Ranch pick me up and drop me off, so I never needed a car. When we take the family, we will drive there and take a week to go through Yellowstone, etc. on the way home. Wyoming has a special place in my heart--and this trip helped cement it in there!

Such a unique experience and the only time in the season that the cattle are moved from the ranch to their summer grazing spot on the Big Horn National Forest. John and crew (his kids and a wrangler) were so helpful in selecting horses for each of us at the beginning of the week and throughout our adventure. We did some initial trail rides to get us used to the saddle and horse (I had not been on a horse in 40 years!) and then gathered and sorted before our main adventure. Our accommodations both at the ranch and on the trail were great. We had the cabin next to the main house which was three bedroom and one bath with a kitchen and over 100 years old. We loved it! And the meals cooked by Mike were fantastic. I cannot express how amazing spending a week with the Tass Family and crew were, as well as meeting our companions for the week. I highly recommend the Klondike Ranch to anyone wanting a real cattle ranch experience. As stated elsewhere...this is not a spa experience, but a real ranching experience. We booked Monster Lake Ranch for my daughter's wedding. Despite having over four months notice they…read moreweren't ready for us. We weren't able to set up for the wedding until a few hours before and that was because they didn't have anything ready. We had to clean the place before setting up because nothing had been cleaned. They had my deposit for over four months and I paid the entire balance 30 days before the wedding and yet they still did NOT have the place ready even though I was assured it would be. Because we had to do all of the cleaning and then the setting up I missed out on being present while my daughter got ready. I didn't get to help her into her dress. I didn't get to make memories or take pictures. I was robbed out of many things that day. Also, family stayed on the property and paid full price despite dirty rooms that were t even ready to be checked into until late evening and no hot water the next day. The website promises available breakfast and yet there was no breakfast and the restaurant was closed. They were told it was seasonal; the website says NOTHING about being seasonal. For the first 3 months after booking the ranch for the wedding, I could NOT get anyone to communicate with me. Many emails went unanswered as well as voicemails. When the one and I guess only staff member did finally communicate with me it was to tell me that an entire crew was getting the event center ready. Well that turned out to be one of many lies to come!!!! Nothing was ever done to get the place ready until we did it ourselves, the day of the wedding!!!! Also, we booked the "event center " sight unseen and was promised pictures on many occasions. Never once got any pictures. Then when we finally get there and are taken to the "event center," it turns out to be a huge garage, with no heat or running water. The bathroom facilities were several yards away and if turns out they were dirty and didn't have any towels to wipe hands on. We were out and out lied to many times and I will NEVER recommend this place, at least not with the current staff!!!!!!!
