To his credit, when I first reached out (over Easter weekend), he responded immediately and called me right away. He set the expectation that he would be at my home Monday afternoon. I appreciated that responsiveness and made the decision to stop looking for other providers because I prefer to support local small businesses. Unfortunately, that's where the experience broke down. Monday came and went with no communication. After multiple texts, I finally heard back that he would come the following afternoon. The next day came--again, no communication, no show, and no response to several calls and texts. I didn't hear back until around 9 PM, when he said he was very busy and that I should understand that. I absolutely understand being busy--that's a good thing for any small business. However, being busy does not excuse a lack of communication, especially after committing to specific days and times. A simple message would have gone a long way. What was most frustrating is that after several days of waiting--time I could have used to secure another provider--he ultimately suggested that I find someone else. As a business owner myself, I know how critical it is to honor commitments or, at the very least, communicate clearly when plans change. In this case, I had an urgent need and relied on the commitments made, which caused unnecessary delays. I'm sure he's a capable and hardworking individual, and I genuinely hope he succeeds. My only recommendation is that communication needs to improve significantly. When customers are counting on you, timely updates are just as important as the work itself. I might recommendation him simply because I love small privately owned businesses BUT i'd also share to be cautious of commitments.
