I need to preface this review by saying that I dislike McDonald's so I feel a bit odd writing this review in the first place. But I was driving back home late on Sunday evening and I was struggling to keep my eyes open. With more than an hour left and 30+ miles of construction to drive through I knew I needed something. So I went through McD's drive thru at 9:30 pm and got an iced coffee. Desperate times call for desperate measures. I had to wait a bit at the first window for someone to come take my money. I could see the guy walking around in there but he kept avoiding coming to the window which I thought was weird. He finally took my money and I drove up to the next window to pick up my coffee. I had to wait about a minute at that window to get my coffee. In general, I thought it just seemed way too slow for a fast food place. The iced coffee was okay. I guess they just assume I want a ton of cream and what they call "liquid sugar" in the coffee and so I didn't specify that I only like a small amount of cream (usually I just ask for milk!) so it was overly sweet for my tastes. But like I said, I was desperate and ended up drinking the whole thing. I might consider getting it again because the price wasn't bad, but I would make sure to get it without all the extra added crap. read more

There were 10 other customers inside the store. Door said lobby closes at 11. It is currently 5:20pm. There was a small bus load of us waiting to be let inside and they let people in AFTER us, but refused us service. In fact we SAW the employees run over and lock the door. And after another customer left, the same employee grabbed the door and yanked it closed to make sure we could not come inside. All the while other customers enjoyed their meals inside. We are sitting outside watching as they let other people in but refuse us service, mind you it is negative 5 degrees outside right now. In fact, they allowed our BUS DRIVER to come inside but not us students. This McDonalds does not even meet McDonald's standards... which is quite pathetic considering McDonald's is like the lowest of low fast food restaurant. Rude employees and horrible service. Service is terrible. Never get my order right. Never open on time. Says they open at 5am, went to get a coffee this morning at 615 and still not open. All the workers are sitting in the parking lot but not open. Do better McDonald Winnebago! read more

They might as well hire AI at this point because I don't know what the hell those cooks even do back there??? Food is the same as any other McDonald's, but the bathroom smells worse and has a sticker floor than most college bars. It smells like someone intentionally urinated all over the bathroom. read more

I was ordering and I they kept telling me one second, they wouldn't let me order because my $50 meal was "too much" and had to get the manager. They said go to the parking lot and was waiting for 15 minutes terrible service read more

Wednesday, August 30 - On the way to Chicago we stopped to get a couple drinks. My wife got her glass for the cold drink, but after waiting 5 - 10 minutes for the coffee she gave up and left. We didn't order food, only drinks. Thursday, August 31 - Ordered a large Dr. Pepper. You could read the newspaper through the glass of soda. Almost all carbonated water, very little syrup. 2 strikes in 2 tries. I guess I'll go somewhere else. read more

Just waited 28 minutes curbside for an order that the app said would be ready in 2-5 minutes. Went into lobby to check on order, cashier not friendly, no apology and others were also waiting over 20 minutes for just a hash brown. Bagels were stale, food wasn't even hot. Very clean McD's!! The staff was fast to get the food prepared and on the tray. I even saw an employee pick up a straw wrapper a guest had dropped on the floor. The breakfast items we ordered were hot and fresh. I'm not typically a fan of Mickey D's for much more than salad and my diet coke, but these guys whipped up my fiance's breakfast in a few minutes and because they didn't have hash browns ready, they made a fresh one for him. Albeit, a little greasy, the overall experience was just fine. I mean, it is McDonalds fast food. Attached to a gas station, where you can find the washrooms that were VERY clean and have your regular C-store needs, this place is conveniently located in Winnebago. read more

We always stop at this McDonalds on our way to Rockford I am very sorry to say that my diet coke which I considers McDonalds the best anywhere that my last few orders here and elsewhere have been off taste Some have a root beer taste and today's just didn't taste right. This was a drive through and I went in to replace at the customer service self serve. It also had the bad taste. Unfortunately they were swamped so I couldn't get to speak to a server. Ugh. It was the only food source within 20 miles both ways. My buddy and I were on our way back from a bachelors party and were in dire need of some grub. Since they knew they are the only "food" offering, you could tell they didn't care about the quality. This used to be one of the best McDonalds in the area. The last few times I have stopped, the service has been going down. Tonight in the drive-thru, it took 10 minutes till I got to order. Another 15 minutes went by till I got to pay. By then Im thinking my food will be cold by the time I get my order. Nope, I have to pull into slot one to wait on my food. By the time someone came out with my food, I had spent 40 minutes at McDonalds. Then it gets better as after I get on the highway I see they didnt even give me any fries! 40 minutes and they still couldnt get my order right. I turned around and went back and got my fries. I honestly think this has been the best McDonalds I've been to and that says a lot. The people in the morning are incredibly friendly and helpful. The facilities were very clean throughout the restaurant. I live near Freeport so I pass through here a lot and I know it is a great choice for something quick on my way home. I'm not huge on eating McDonalds, but the staff here make it worthwhile. My food has been hot and the service has always been friendly. read more
