Picking up in general for this store is one of the most horrific disasters I have ever had to take part in. Morning crew does a decent job looks like they have somewhat of pep in step, and know a little of what to do. Night crew on the other hand is the biggest turd in the bowl. I'm not sure why this McDonald's is rated so poorly, as it is probably one of the best ones I have ever been to. I travel a lot, and I am originally from the South. I have been to McDonald's through several different states- and this one is one of the fastest, with the kindest workers, and they have yet to mess up an order beyond repair. The only mess up I've ever had in two years of living in Waukee was them putting cheese when I asked for no cheese. Which, in all honesty, could have been my fault for not confirming they heard my request. I have never been inside, so this experience is only with drive thru. Everybody in there is constantly high, food orders are consistently wrong, everybody moves like a sloth, and acts like they don't wanna be there, and is run by a bunch of kids. Service is poor, the manager is a teenager, early 20s at best, and when your order is messed up, all they say is, " We're sorry, we'll make it again. Have gone in there, and they're throwing ketchup packets at each other. No customer service whatsoever. I get it, it's McDonald's, but if y'all hate your job that much, just quit! Chips were half filled and burgers were cold and salty and the only thing that was good was the fizzy and you don't even have to make it . I love McDonalds food. I eat at this location weekly. I also do Doordash for them daily. I was hoping that I could get someone's attention in Operations to tell them that the morning staff at this location has amazing character. They treat me with respect that the other restaurants don't give me. They communicate well and are accountable. I see them execute AND coach well. They are always on time, and if they aren't, I would wait forever for them because I make sacrifices for those who treat me with as much respect as your morning staff does. Thank you guys so much. Went through the drive thru. It wasn't even busy (no one in line) and they had at least 7 cars waiting for food. Employees were walking around with bags of food going from car to car and couldn't figure out where it went. No one looked like they were over 15 and was not an adult supervising. This has gotten so much worse! January 25, 2023, I went to the drive-through, and it took 40 minutes to get to the microphone to place the order. I asked the manager why it was taking so long, and she suggested I go somewhere else if I wasn't happy. Once I could get out of line (they really lock you in once you get in line), I did and took her suggestion. The last time I could actually get food there, It was cold and soggy. This place is sub-part for a McDonalds. It's extremely convenient for where we live (four blocks away). But, there've been many times I've gone out of my way to drive-through a different McDonalds to avoid this one (on the way to/from home). Often, food is too salty. Very often, the staff gets the order wrong (when I say no ketchup, I mean no ketchup). We've been shorted food multiple times. We've been given the wrong food more than once. We've been charged wrong more than once. Perhaps most disturbing is how rude the staff is. Most of them go through the motions; say what they're trained to say. I agree with Larry P. I've only visited this McDonald's a few times and have had a bad experience twice. First time was when i walked in and stood back from the counter waiting for somebody to show up to wait on me. A young man came from the seating area and walked up to the cash register and instead of asking if I needed help, said nothing. I asked him if he was ready to take my order and still he said nothing. I gave him my order and he finally spoke to me when he told me what the total was. That was the end of our conversation though because once the food arrived and I told him thanks.....twice, he just ignored me. The lady who was next in line had her mouth wide open in disbelief as I turned around to leave. I must say that the McDonald's customer service rep that called me and emailed me a couple times to apologize and reassure that steps were being made to make sure that something like that wouldn't happen again was very commendable. Another time my wife and I went through the drive-thru and as always after getting the food, we check to make sure the order is right. We had ordered medium fries and the fries we got were small. Parked the car....walked in with the whole order and asked the counter guy if I had been given the wrong size fries or if that's what the size of the medium fries were these days. Before I could even get the fries out of the bag one of the mangers said that I had gotten medium fries......until I pulled them out of the bag. She did say she was sorry and fired up another batch of medium fries for us. Yep, it's just fast food but we should still expect to get what we order and be treated with respect and get the orders right if they want our business. read more
