The restaurant has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and serves up an American-style BBQ menu. Portion sizes are big and the quality of the meat is never in doubt. On this visit I discovered their chicken wings, which have to be the best chicken wings I've had in the UK, and I'm struggling to remember any wings sampled in the U.S. that would beat them! The secret is definitely in the coating - I'm just gutted I didn't discover them sooner! Their southern fried chicken burger is my favourite burger from here, however unfortunately on this occasion they served it with blue cheese on top rather than the regular cheese I asked for. No problem though, they were more than happy to make a fresh burger which was just as delicious as always. The Surf, Bird & Turf Combo and BBQ Ribs are also great choices. My biggest plus about this place though is their fries; the best fries I've ever eaten. Consistently awesome on every visit, beautifully crispy and well-seasoned. Big 5 stars from me as I've had 5 fantastic meals here, and they have Brahma on tap which is a bonus.

After some browsing for a few blocks, we came across Firehouse Rotisserie and decided to give it a try! First off, the restaurant is in a very beautiful, charming, old building. The building, like this city, seems to ooze wisdom and history! On to the food! I decided to go with the rotisserie chicken with potatoes and other veggies on the side. It was soooo flavorful, tender, and juicy! Seriously! And it was a very filling and hearty meal that fueled our further sightseeing for the day. Service was quick and friendly as well. I highly recommend stopping by and trying the rotisserie chicken!

My sister and I are a bit picky, but I'd had this spot marked for months in preparation for our trip to Bath as one of the few restaurants that had something we'd both eat, and boy did it turn out. We split the margarita pizza and a side of asparagus, which the chef ran all the way upstairs to make sure they had, -- it was so good. Possibly the best asparagus I've ever had, and we were stoked to get some veggies with dinner. The pizza crust was perfectly thin and crispy, but thick enough at the end to really sink your teeth into. Fresh basil and expertly roasted tomatoes (absolutely bursting with flavor) made for an off the charts margarita. It's hard to go wrong here but, this one really knocked it out of the park. Seating was quick, though we were on the earlier side, with water pitcher all to ourselves, which we love to get, and very clean well kept restrooms! -- though not very accessible, you must climb four flights of stairs. Try Mr. B's Emporium of Reading Delights if you have time before or afterwards, which is a beautiful and well stocked bookstore right across the street. Definitely stop by if you're in town, this one was a win! (Try the chocolate ice cream).

The interior was intimate, cozy yet elegant, and made me feel like I was having dinner at someone's vacation home vs a restaurant that's been awarded a Michelin star. I apologize in advance in case the chance to eat the same dishes I've had will be slim to none as I gather the menu changes daily. That said, allow me to rave about some of the new bests I've had starting with the STEAK TARTARE that was so delightfully refreshing. I loved the hint of sweet mustard while the crispy oyster on the side was such a pleasant pairing. The LAMB SHOULDER was a-maaaaazing - harissa spiced and grilled to a perfect char until tender and bloody good. Served with yogurt, flatbread, and smoked cod's roe - just fab! Beautifully pink, the PORK LOIN was another winner featuring melt-in-your-mouth-delicious-meat with the rhubarb sauce sealing the deal so gloriously. There is everyone's least favorite dish which is the PIGEON, not because of how it was prepared but more on meat preference. We also had the CHILLED LOVAGE SOUP with Cornish Crab, MUSSELS w/ SMOKED PANCETTA, and PRAWN TORTELLINI - all we so very much enjoyed. I could still remember the taste of every single one of them in my mouth including the CHOCOLATE MOUSSE for dessert. Offering a pre-fixe menu as well as an a la carte menu, Pony & Trap is sure to please any food lover without breaking the bank. With a stellar service to boot, it paved the way for such a memorable evening with plenty of stories, laughter, and tears of joy shared over a fantastic spread. Easily one of my highlights on this holiday. Review #800

Another fantastic experience had at the Pony & Trap…read more I've been to the Pony & Trap a number of times. Once in a large group with friends and a number of times in a smaller group with family. Whether it's a classic Sunday roast, a cheeky weekday lunch or evening dinner it never fails to impress, it hasn't got a Michelin Star for nothing! This visit was for an early Sunday lunch with my wife and grandad as a birthday present for Grandpappy. I'd booked a while back and specifically asked for a table with good light as grandpappy's eyesight isn't quite what it use to be. The guys at the Pony & Trap were more than accommodating and gave us the best table in the house, in front of the large window at the back of the restaurant overlooking Chew Vally, it's quite a view. I usually go for the beef for the P&T Sunday roast but based on the steak meal I'd eaten the night before I thought I'd branch out and try the pork for a change, I wasn't disappointed! The pork came complete with crackling, homemade apple sauce, parsnip purée, AMAZING roasters and a selection of veg that's without a doubt some of the best I've ever had accompanying the Sunday meat! My personal fav was the roast beetroot. The pork didn't come with a Yorkshire but I had a quiet word with our waitress and she arranged for me to have one anyway. Smashing service as always. Alice and Grandpappy went for the beef and as expected the medium rare slab of prime ashdale beef was first class (I managed to pinch a taster from Alice!). It's also worth mentioning the homemade horseradish that accompanied the beef. I sometimes find that you should stick to the stuff that comes out of a pot but this stuff was amazing. It tasted so fresh and a proper nose tingler! I can't speak highly enough of the Pony & Trap. Considering the high quality of ingredients (a summary of which is included on the back of the menu, so you can see where they were sourced from), the first class service and it's shiny Michelin Star it's actually not quite as heavy on the wallet as you might expect. Highly recommended for a special occasion if you fancy venturing out of town. I can also recommend a walk round Chew Valley Lake or Folly Farm Nature Reserve after your meal to burn off your roast on a Sunday. Both are a couple of minutes drive from the pub.

Based in the middle of Gloucester road, it has a fair bit of competition. In fact, over the last few years there have been quite a few burgers restaurants open in Bristol, but Atomic Burger offer a really different, fun experience. First things first; the restaurant is comic book themed. Everything from the walls, floor, menu and windows is covered in marvel-style comic book pictures. That obviously makes it a great place to take kids, but you'll also find lots of couples, groups and students. It's probably not the best place for a business lunch. Me and my girlfriend went for the first time yesterday and it was great to sit outside and make the most of the sun. We sat on the same table as another couple and got chatting to them. They had been to Atomic Burger MANY times and were on a quest to try every burger on the menu. If you do then you get 20% off for 12 months. Just ask for a sticker after your meal and if you collect them all you get the life discount. The couple both had cocktails that had a bottle of Sol larger upside down in the glass - I didn't care what it was, I wanted one! After ordering "whatever they've got" it turned out to be a 'largerita' which was SO good! The Sol slowly tops up your margarita as you drink - genius! I'm a sucker for a gimmick! The menu is big and actually a little bit confusing. I went with the LLAP: beef burger, pulled chicken, blue cheese sauce, Louisiana hot sauce and spring onion. It was amazing! I had the garlic and chilli fries which were also really good. The best thing for me though, was the beavers jalapeño mustard. Mmmm, beavers jalapeño muuuustard!! A must try if you like spicy food. We left, met some friends at another bar, and then went back to Atomic Burger to show them the largeritas. I'm not sure if I'll eat there enough times to get the 20% life discount, but I'll definitely be back!

The food isn't exactly diet friendly, but who goes to a burger joint for salad? There's absolutely loads of choice so you can pretty much have anything you want on top of your burger, and you have the choice of chicken, beef or veggie. All the burgers are named after famous characters and the menu looks great. There's some crazy drinks on there too - from bacon milkshakes to lageritas (a personal fave!) My boyfriend ordered the hot chicken wings recently. He was warned they were extremely hot but he can handle spice so he went for it anyway! What followed was hilarious! One bite and he was sweating, dizzy, couldn't feel his lips and not feeling so clever anymore. We since found out they are made with three of the hottest chillies on earth! They had over a million Scoville units! They do takeaway if you don't want to sit in (or you've got someone you can send to pick it up and bring it to you in bed with a hangover!) They also do a mean hotdog! I had a hotdog with red onions, American cheese sauce and pulled pork the other day and it was yummy! It's quite a lot of money for what it is (£10ish a burger) but you get a naughty, messy meal that's delicious! I took my 12 year old nephew and he loved it because it's something a bit different! My 30 yr old mates also love it for the same reason.
