The ice-cream shop area is fabulous. I remember one hot day (a rarity I know!) I treated myself to a double-scoop cone, one blackcurrant and one gooseberry scoop. Wow the blackcurrant was so sweet and refreshing, whilst the gooseberry was so gloriously tart I just wanted to bury my face in it. Absolute ice-cream heaven. If you prefer a shower, the rooms located in the courtyard near the pub are the one for you. I enjoyed a classic beef burger which hit the spot and the tasting plate, accompanied by local beer and cider. For breakfast, there is proper cafe quality coffee and tea is by UK brand teapigs. There is a range of hot and continental options. I had the eggs royale, which exceeded my expectation of hotel breakfasts.
