I'm out here in the middle of nowhere on business. Where do you say? Well let's put it like this,…read moreif you've ever heard the term "Where GOD left his shoes" I found them around the corner LOL. Oneill is simply a Map Dot. We're here in town delivering components for Wind Energy. We've been here every other day for a week. We'll be here much the same for the next few weeks. Seriously the only food we've ate since coming here is some "Americanized" Mexican. It will do in a pinch when you're hungry and they have very little options. One of the site supervisors from the laydown yard to which we're delivering recommended this little place. This place has a cool little vintage almost steam punk feel. I would go at modern day rustic. It really is a very nice setting. Let me start off by telling you that the service was spectacular . Alyssa who is pictured in the photo with my buddy Brian was an awesome server. She was entertaining and very nice. This young lady had so much energy. The food was really really good . I had a burger called "The Irishman". Essentially it was a nine ounce hamburger, bacon, corned beef, swiss cheese and caramelized onions. It's topped with an over easy fried egg. Let me tell you now. If you have Alyssa as your server, just go ahead and request extra napkins. It's a messy hamburger to eat. I mean it wouldn't be so messy if you had the egg fried hard. I actually liked the over easy egg on it though: The burger was grilled, so it was very juicy and it was not over cooked . My buddy had the bacon bleu burger and it was just as good. I'll be frequenting this place often as we're going to be here for a while . They don't just have burgers on the menu. They actually do have full meals. I highly recommend you check this place out if you're ever here.

This place never fails to disappoint. This last time they didn't have any Chicken Fried Steaks,…read moreeven though it's only served on Friday and Saturday nights. (We were there on a Friday night) Got our order wrong/not prepared as requested. Margaritas served with sugar on the rim and not salt as requested. I just kept going down hill from there. I will say our server was very polite and apologetic, he really felt bad how poorly it all went, so props to him. I'm not a picky person and understand if a restaurant is having a bad night but this is the third time we've had a bad experience. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!

On the exterior, the town of Monowi, Nebraska, is an unremarkable wide spot in the road along Route 12 just south of the state's border with South Dakota. Only one, single resident remains. Upon my arrival, I met the famous mayor Elsie Eiler on the eve of her 90th birthday. She still makes her way down from her trailer to the restaurant every day, the same establishment she and her late husband Rudy have operated for over half a century. It's incredible she has the energy to keep the place running at her age, a spry woman short in stature who does the cooking and bartending all day every day. Being the only business open in town, excluding the free 5,000-book library around the corner, it's the obvious place to gather amidst the abandoned homes, crumbling vacant post office, and dilapidated church. If you're willing to make this worthwhile drive to remote Nebraska, the biggest surprise is that the food is actually very good! The pizzas are wonderful, defying all logic as to how such a delicious pie could be found so far from civilization. The menu offers a stunning selection of foods, all of which Elsie prepares, including two styles of hamburgers, five other sandwiches, and three different cuts of steak among several other options. They have a plethora of side dishes from tater tots and fries to gizzards and cheese balls, all at very reasonable prices!

Quick service and friendly atmosphere! Elsie always has a smile for her customers. They have quite…read morethe menu for a small place but have a limited menu on Holidays.
