I couldn't help myself when I saw that they were featuring two special wines, and one of them was a Sauvignon Blanc called Sincerite. I had never tasted this particular wine, but it sounded special! And sincere! It was good, but maybe a little too sweet for my palate. Isn't that sometimes the way with those earnest wines? I visited for lunch when I just wanted a little something. So I got the soup of the day -- a bean and beef number in a tomatoey broth. It came with a fennel-seed-studded roll. The soup was amazing and tasted like something a mom or dad or grandma or grandpa would make: just kind of simple and hearty and good. I also got the Hobnob Green Salad, which is mesclun topped with shredded cheese, mushrooms, cubes of turkey and croutons. I'm not a big fan of raw mushroom slices in general, and particularly on a salad, so I picked off the mushrooms like a petulant child and ate the rest of the salad. My soup and salad went really well with my cold glass of Sauv Blanc. Hobnob Corner was very busy when I visited! Nashville is a place that gets lots of visitors, and this restaurant, which is located on the corner of a busy intersection in downtown Nashville, is no exception. But I was able to get a table right away, even though I was a party of one. There is no bar here, by the way. Even though they were busy, the service was quick and friendly. They also have a pastry selection in a display case in the front of the restaurant. You can pop in and grab a cookie or pastry, if you want.

She did notice after she brought my wife's wine to the table that it was incorrect. She left it and promptly got the correct one. Ambiance was fine. It's a large venue and the outdoor campus is pretty cool. We were seated in a booth. The booth itself seemed a tad worn. They also have a lot of glass on the west wall, which allowed the sun to shine in, but also made it a tad blinding when turning that direction. Overall, it was good, but not amazing. It is conveniently located to the music venue that is just a bit south of it across the highway.

Little kids were having a great time running around and dancing, but not many adults came to sit in that area. There's no dance floor space, which was disappointing. We enjoyed a walk around the pretty fall-decorated grounds at dusk, then stopped in the bottle shop, where we purchased cinnamon vodka. Since we hadn't done a tasting (which range in price from $25-$70/person), we didn't buy bourbon or whiskey. I also ordered a chicken salad sandwich and ended up taking half of it to go. It was tasty but it surprisingly had onions in it which I would not have expected with red grapes in it. I have never seen an alpha gal menu, but alpha gal can cause major allergic reactions to beef. They also had gluten free options marked on the special menus. They offer gluten free buns which provides more gluten free options. I asked the waitress about the ribeye sandwich being gluten free and she assured me they didn't put anything with gluten on it and they didn't put anything with gluten on the grill. They also have several appetizers that are GF. We ended up getting queso and chips because they were recommended in someone else's review. I had the ribeye sandwich on a gluten free bun and my husband had a flatbread just the way it comes. We both enjoyed our food and our time. Their prices are reasonable as well especially considering they are located in the downtown of a touristy town. It's not a fancy place, and they serve food without frills, but if that's what you are looking for, this place is for you.

Once you step inside the door and head down the stairs you will see a huge Bobby Knight mural. I've seen the sign for this place over the years but never realized it was Bobby Knight and Indiana Basketball themed. It's awesome!!! Bobby Knight would come here and eat as he didn't live far from here. I never knew Bobby Knight played for Ohio State! They have a picture of him in his OSU jersey. Know that this place isn't that big but it's worth the visit. The food was so good!! Service was good also! Ambiance was what Hoosier Hysteria is all about. After a solid 45 minutes the place emptied out and the tables around us who had came in after us had ordered and received their food. The waitress never acknowledged that it took an unacceptable amount of time. I never even received the potatoes that went with my breakfast, but after waiting for close to an hour, I didn't want to ask for the remainder of my food. At one point, I looked towards the kitchen at our waitress to see if maybe our food was on the counter and I saw the cook in the kitchen, licking her fingers. The food was room temp at best. Nothing seemed fresh and hot. If you like dead bugs in the windows and dirty napkins shoved under the foot of the table keeping them from being wobbly- this is your place. As for me, I'm very disappointed.
