Ice cold egg on McMuffin! Hard as a brick bread. Cheese cold. Horrible and unacceptable! Health dept might want to check out temperatures on their food! Not busy at time I went through (only 2 cars in line, including myself.) Did not think a McDonald's could possible be this bad. Yuck!

After seeing this restaurant pop up on commercials as the best burgers in central Illinois 100…read moretimes on a Cardinal Cub game, I decided to give it a shot and see if there was any validity to their claim. There was not.... Pulled up and ordered a double cheese burger with everything and a French fry and large Coke. Their pricing is way more expensive than any other independent burger joint and they nickel and dime you pretty hard on the items. 70 cents more for lettuce and tomato each, which I understand and that's typical for most restaurants anymore. $4.35 for a French fry that was old and tasted like it had sat under a heat lamp for an hour wasn't worth it. Their large drink was a medium and it was like $4-5 too, but the coke had the worse metallic taste to it like the lines were serious dirty. Was undrinkable. So you are looking at $20 before tax just for a "combo" which they don't offer... Let's get to the sandwich- it wasn't special and for $9.35 for just the meat, cheese and bun wasn't worth it either. They put condiments on the bottom bun which made it a soggy mess and when I went to pick it up, it was like wet dough because how soggy it was. Pretty sure it was one single slice of cheese and the burgers weren't thin and crispy but seemed like they try to make them like that, but I am guessing the size of each patty was 5-6 oz each maybe, so that is more meat than other typical independent restaurants. It almost tasted like charred or burnt and just wasn't special. Would I return? No, it's not worth the drive or the price for their products because everyone of them Had issues and was the most expensive "combo" I've bought at a tiny local burger joint.

I came in looking for dairy free options and was so happy to find out they make their oatmeal with no dairy at all. I ordered it with raisins and brown sugar on the side, and it was simple, warm, and exactly what I wanted. If you do want milk, they'll bring it on the side. I also ordered the grilled peach salad, and wow. Perfectly grilled, sweet, and such a standout. The dressing seemed to contain dairy, but the team was very helpful in guiding me and making sure I had what I needed. It quickly became one of my favorite salads I've had in a long time. My husband sampled some of their pastries and said they were delicious. They also had a massive cinnamon roll on the counter, probably close to ten inches wide. I didn't get it this time, but if you're a cinnamon roll person, this is absolutely the place to indulge. They have regular sized ones too if you're not ready to commit to the giant version. The server was so kind, and I think the manager spoke with us as well. She was just as friendly. I also really liked the decor, which gave the place a comfortable, welcoming vibe. And small detail, but appreciated: they have a baby changing table in the bathroom, which I know is a lifesaver for a lot of families.

I can confirm that the…read morerumors are true, and I suspect that Lost in Time offers one of the better breakfasts around small-town Central Illinois. What you can expect: -meals served on antique china -homemade breakfasts and lunches -grab and go meals and sweets, including cinnamon rolls big and small -friendly servers My dining companion was a big fan of her omelet and home fries, especially the not-so-overwhelming portion size. I enjoyed my cinnamon roll and hash browns. My small critique is that the cinnamon rolls aren't served warm. I asked my server to heat mine up, and while she did, it really didn't impact the roll--only some frosting. If I was to return, I would order one to go and reheat it at home...and would I return? Yes, and I already know I want to try to baked oatmeal.

This is a decent mid-western home town restaurant with a nice full menu. I have eaten here three times over the past two years and was always happy with what I had. This is a place to have things like a hot roast beef sandwich smothered in gravy, or a meatloaf plate or a variety of sandwiches. They also feature a local "thing" that originated in Springfield and the surrounding area, called a Horseshoe. This is Texas Toast, with a meat selection (turkey, ham or hamburger) covered with a huge pile of fries and then drenched in cheese sauce. This thing is HUGE, so on your first try, order the smaller version, the Ponyshoe. I'm sure not everything they make is home made, but the daily specials probably are. When I had a meatloaf platter, it certainly was. On the latest visit, I had a breaded tenderloin sandwich that was well above average. It had one fourth inch thick meat, instead of just being a huge bread Frisbee. The chile was mid-range, typical midwestern style, but OK. They had a very nice beef, vegetable soup that one in our party had that was reported to be very good. Bottom line, it is a decent small town Midwestern restaurant. Certainly above average, with good service and a complete menu. From I-74, take Exit 159 and follow IL-54 into Farmer City. The restaurant is close, located at the junction of IL-54 and US-150.
