It was a convenient option with the ski gear etc. to dine here and I found reviews to be promising. So I went in and was greeted and seated by a very nice staff. The staff promptly took my order but unfortunately when it arrived, the salad was tasteless and the beef was super dry and hard. I was very disappointed by the food there. I'd remember to avoid it next time I am in the area.

As a medical provider, these symptoms are highly consistent with food poisoning. I also noticed the food tasted off and stopped eating early, while the others continued and became ill shortly after. The Scholderer is warm and cozy and we felt at home here. Our server was super nice and warm-- we could tell the other customers felt the same way. We drank the local beer and also enjoyed the local schnapps after dinner. I ordered a US Hamburger which was a-mazing. Probably one of the better hamburgers I have ever had in my life-- sehr lecker! I also fell in the love with the decor-- there are lots of funny signs about drinking. They also had some lovely lit shadowboxes with vintage skiing pins. By the front door was a local man eating dinner with his well-behaved dog at his feet. If we are ever in Garmisch again, we will for sure revisit the Schloderer! Most of the folks (about three couples) were enjoying some beer or beer and brats in the afternoon. As far as bratwursts are concerned, I didn't think they're that special (photo). I believe it was called Werdenfelser meaning it was from the Werdenfels region known for its beef production. Brat had a orangish red color and very fine texture unlike many of the German bratwursts I had before. In that sense, it was very unique. To my surprise, it was deep-fried in oil, but it wasn't overly greasy--you just had to be careful not to bite in too quickly because it was served very hot. Potato salad was very good and tasty with great balance of sweetness and vinegary taste. I dare say it was one of the bests I've eaten before. Now, bratwurst and potato salad for 7,80€ is very reasonable in this tourist-heavy everything is over-priced town of G-P. Service was just fine nothing special to note--server took care of business efficiently.
